I had an endoscopy today and when i was wheeled back to my ward afterward four players from a national rugby team came in and surprised me! They gave me free tickets to their game. I wasn't even nervous before i went in. I was actually really excited

Thank you so much for making this video. My 9 year old son is TERRIFIED to have an endoscopy and this video is EXACTLY what we needed to help him hopefully be more comfortable with having it. It was done for a child’s Perspective and shows exactly what’s done. I hope this will help calm his nerves.

I was 7 when I got my surgery done (many years ago) I was tired after the procedure. I was put on anestishia then when I woke up I kept falling asleep on the bed after my whole family was telling me to get up. Thank God I got a wheel chair ride because I fell asleep on the last wheel chair ride too.

I wish they had a program like that 50 years ago. I was just phobic of hospitals and knew what the letter "H" was before I started kindergarten. My parents couldn't drive on any streets where a hospital was located. Keep up the fantastic work.

I'll tell you my experience. I asked for numbing cream,they gave me the IV and to be honest it just hurt a little,then I went to the operation room and they gave me the sedation,they only thing I remember is the tube getting shoved down my throat and I puked a little and I felt like I couldn't breathe,wasn't a very pleasant experience for me. I hope you don't suffer like I did

I had a endoscopy when i was 10 and i was surprisingly not scared until the last second. But if course i had Anastasia so i fell asleep. I woke up and felt fine. But to those who will get an endescopy, dont b scared because you’ll wake up and u are in an hospital. U r safe. ❤️

I had endoscopy when I was about 8 years old I'm now 10 years old and don't worry cuz as long as you're not afraid everything will be okay it's okay to be a little scared but everything will go fine just listen to the doctors and I'll tell you what to do and how to use the mask if you don't know how cuz I didn't really know how and after you wake up it's a little strange at first because like you feel really really too tired and you feel really sore but my mom took me out to eat and my dad whenever I got done

I had an endoscopy, but they cut one of my organs and I started bleeding on the inside, and I got a hematoma. I had to stay in the hospital for 3 weeks and I wasn’t allowed to eat or drink anything. I was 9. It was awful. But it doesn’t happen to a lot of people, and my doctor was just being lazy.

I had my endoscopy yesterday! It’s totally fine- nothing is sore not even the needles... I had my sleep medicine through A needle like in my arm which felt weird but was fine and soon as I fell asleep! Good luck! x (Edit I have lost my voice tho since my throat hurts but that’s it)

Actually I went to the doctor today and I told him that I am belching and he was like the only way to see what you have in you stimatch is to make a gastroscopy... and it costs $400.. and I am very scared.. but he told me that I will feel nothing and it will take about 3 minutes... but still I cannot relax after my appointment..😢 (edit: btw thank you❤)

did you get to pick? i’m terrified of needles and getting this done😭i’m only 16 but needles scare me sm to where they have to give me a few minutes to try to breathe before i get my blood taken, shots or an iv😭

I had one of these done... twice, and after they did it, my throat felt real funny. Most of the time, you are awake for these things, especially if you're an adult.

I’ve had several (and will have an endoscopic ultrasound in 2.5 weeks) and I was under MAC each time. With MAC (monitored anesthesia care), you’re asleep but still breathing on your own

what if you’re 16? i’m around 130ish and 5’5 if that helps. a few years ago i watched a story time where this girl was awake the whole time and she was trying to scream and tell them but she couldn’t move at all and she had to feel everything the whole 8 hour surgery. and i know that’s not always common but i’m terrified i’m not actually gonna be asleep or i’m gonna be able to feel a lot of pain. i’ve had laughing gas when i was around 5-6 and then some liquid that put me to sleep around 6-7 so i’m not sure if it also helps i’ve never had much or maybe any anesthesia

This helped me soooooo much😍 I was 100% scared, but now I am 10%😁 I am getting it tomorrow so hopefully it goes well🙂THANK YOU

my name is kylie. i have GURD and live in boston and have had to have many endoscopes at mass gen. my favorite part was always getting to flavor my own mask. and it’s not scary at all. i’ve been doing it since i was 7 months old

She did so good and she was very brave👏🏻👍🏻

So idk if someone who needs it will see it but for these there’s nothing to worry about procedure wise. Soar throats often happen, I know that some hospitals give iVs with the mask or just and iV. For a general endo this is correct

I have endoscopy in 30min I’ll tell u my experience once it’s finished I’m 13yrs old btw Well I finished and there was nothing to worry about they put a numbing spray into my throat that was a bit bad then they put a tube in my nose to breathe from and then gave me a circle shaped thing for my mouth. I could hear my heart rate decreasing then I just realized it had finished lol There is nothing to be worried about if you are taking anesthesia.

I had a surgery to get some weird thing in my mouth. I had a surgery to get it on when I was younger, because of a cavity. After getting that thing out, well... it was an easy surgery. I had taken some medicine that made my legs shaky and I couldn’t walk until after my surgery. It was still a bit shaky so I got to ride in a wheelchair and my mom, who was with me, pushed it to her car, and when I was walking down the wooden steps to the back door of my house, I kind of stumbled.

I am scared having my first one I am almost 50 years old

I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy, it doesn’t hurt at all, when I woke up I asked “when are they gonna do it?” also the anesthesia knocked me out right away. When I was able to eat my tongue was tingling alittle, but that’s it.

This girl is so cute and very brave

If you are going to have a surgery don't be scared I've had 6 surgery they don't hurt one was for my tonsils removed and that was my first surgery it was scary at first but then it was not scary at all next i broke a bone and I was still nerves but it was fine it does not hurt it really helps you most of the time you don't want a surgery but something you want it cuz you need it i had a surgery on my ears that helped me then I had a surgery on my mouth after it did hurt for like 2min when they had to put the needle in but the straw does not hurt u don't have to get needles it was just something I needed because I'm alerject to the sleepy mask medicine and I'm alerject to the numbing cream

So I am going in for my 5th one and it has been nothing like this. Though I do get a stuffed animal or blanket to keep every time

I had a operation and I wasn’t even scared except from everybody

I went to a hospital to get eye surgery! I had something called a chalazion, it’s a bump underneath your eyelid cause from stuff getting in your eye and getting into there. It got pretty big to the point where I could see Only 50% on my right eye. Here’s the story: So on a Friday in 5:00 in the morning, we went to the hospital and sat in a waiting room, when they called me in, she checked how tall I was, how much I weigh, and my age and birth. I got dressed in my hospital gown and sat on the bed waiting for the doctor to come. When the doctor came, she got me into the room and laid me down on a bed, I had a nice warm blanket. The nurses and doctors complimented my earrings and put the anesthesia mask on me and soon I felt numb and fell asleep. The surgery was about 30 minutes to 1 hour long. When we were done, the doctor rolled me on my bed into the room with my parents. A couple minutes after that, my mom carried me into the car. WARNING! Don’t read if u get sick easily!!! So when we got in the car I was super nauseous and I threw up all over the car floor. We stopped at a gas station to clean up and we went home and that’s my story!

I’ve been through a surgery.... and my mom was more worried then I was....

I actually had to get one done but for a serious reason, when i was 3 i would only eat cheese and drink milk, because of that it clogs my intestines and i can’t poop, but i’m all good now, except i had to stay in the hospital for 3 days and had a tube in my nose to my throat and they had to make me drink water from it so 😅 oof memories are flooding back, i don’t remember having to sleep with a sleep mask thing tho, i slept just fine somehow ;-;
