I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

Couple days ago during my round, my final swing thought for every drive and approach was simply "relationship with the ball." You are exactly right. For me this thought somehow eliminates me having to think about all the stuff that I used to: keep face square going back, right wrist not cupped at top, right elbow close to body, etc etc. I haven't hit the ball this crispy in awhile. Didn't even get to try it at the range. Just the thought of "relationship with the ball" has set me on the right track. Thank you again

You're very correct on that cause for topped shots. I play with a couple of golfers that will say they took their "eye off the ball" but actually you can change your spine tilt and still keep your eyes on the ball!

  • @SagutoGolf

Absolutely, Bob! The dynamic - and body-friendly - changing condition of the spine keeps our head in place without any straining. So yes - the vast majority of golfers who say they took there eye off the ball in actuality had the eye taken off the ball as a result of a defect in their spine action. Great point! Tom

Mr. Saguto, your videos have been great for a 4 month beginner like me. I practice and practice a lot. My biggest issue with the shoulder pointing at the ball is consistency. For some reason I will hit 10 great shots at the range following this method. Then I will switch clubs or take a break and then I miss, or top or hit the ground first the next 10. At the driving range you can adjust and get over it. When your on the course it's extremely disappointing. So I guess I am just venting a bit..lol. I will continue to watch your great videos and hopefully one day find something that will click and help me be more consistent.

@Thor 0630 - I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated well with you!! You may also be interested in knowing that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of the online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. The way I see it, we can either simply put the already existing natural laws to work for us, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball! Tom, your videos have been a huge help for my wife and I. I just started playing golf again for the for the first time since my teenage years, its been a 20 year hiatus and my wife had never even swing a club until we started about a month ago. Since starting back up, I was really struggling with consistency but your videos have allowed both my wife and I to progress extremely quickly. So, for that, I thank you sir! I do however need to ask, the song played in this video, is that you playing the actual guitar rift?

@@SagutoGolf Eyyyy paisano! Good to hear from you man. We are planning on starting the online school in about a month, we just need a little more time to polish up the basics we have learned from your KZread lessons. Once we are a little more consistent, we plan to start the class so we can correct any issues we still have. As far as your composition, I love it and I think you should include your music more often. Thanks again man, you and Eric Cogorno, the golf mafia, have been indescribably helpful in getting my wife and I swinging properly. Without you guys, we would still be swaying all over the place like the town drunk and developing other terrible habits.

I love this tip and it has dramatically improved my iron game; I am hitting my irons better at 61 years of age than when I was 31. Shot a 38 for the first time in my life on the front nine of my 'home' course. Still having issues with the driver; I find it hard to transition from the steeper iron swing to the more shallow driver swing. By the way, great guitar jamming during the range session. Hope you survived 'Ian' without too much stress.

  • @SagutoGolf

    @SagutoGolf

    Жыл бұрын

That's awesome, Jeffrey - congrats on your personal best 9-hole score!! You need to keep the hips moving laterally during the downswing all the way through impact - that will keep the path appropriately shallowed. Oftentimes with the driver this lateral action quits prematurely due to the wider stance. There's plenty of instruction in the online school to help you with this. You can also arrange for a V1 swing video analysis if you'd like. This enables me to put my eyes on your swing and offer some very specific observations and corrective action plans if applicable. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf Glad you enjoyed the guitar work, and yes - we got through the storm with minimal issues - thanks for asking!! Tom

We used this video as a starting point - kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6Rlk9OsZKiYhJM.html - and then made some other minor PVC support structure modifications to suit our needs. We did not use PVC cement as this allows us to easily disassemble it if necessary. The netting we used is 10' x 10' golf cage impact net purchased from Amazon, and it differs from the screening material in the video. (By the way, if using a net like we did you probably won’t need the screw hooks that are mentioned in the video - bungees should suffice.) Also, I have a Real Feel 3x5 Country Club Elite® Golf Mat. If you were aiming for that tree with the 3w on the range, nice, very consistent! I have been doing this for awhile now, come to think of it I think you showed a video with Palmer and talked about how he said it was his number one key, shoulder to the ball on the way back and the through. So basically I do 2 swing thoughts, 1st is logo of the glove down to the ground and then shoulder to the ball and that is literally it. The rest is just grip it and rip it, so freeing to only really concentrate on the target!

Two very simple thoughts that allow you to go out there and play golf rather than "golf swing". Very nice, Tommy!! Here's that lesson you referenced on Arnold Palmer's favorite tip: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fKCTltiooNuZqKQ.html Keep up the great work! Tom

@@mmccull9764 thanks so much. I'm 70. The back is in good condition. The instruction I've taken away so far from Saguto golf is the weight forward/head position. Working on the rest. Looking for consistency in crispy KFC strikes. Have a great day!

@Anthony Scarfone - I'd say that @Michael McCullough sums it up quite nicely! This is a very body-friendly motion as supported by the fact that a significant percentage of my students and online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Perhaps you might consider the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. So many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. Here's a link if you would like to know more about the school - saguto.golf - and here's a link to my free mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/ You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing and experience great ball striking. I hope you'll give the school some thought. Tom

Thanks Ken - I appreciate that!! Cheers! Tom

I found this to be the final piece to the puzzle. My aggregious fault is not turning enough and my arms taking over. This makes golf hard. By slowing down my take away and seeing the ball over my left shoulder it keeps my right arm connected and the down swing is automatic. It just unwinds for crisp accurate ball striking. Thankyou

weight forward, arms strait, tilt. that completely changed my game. my only question is for 3/4 swings or just not full swing. do you just not tilt your shoulder quite as in line with the ball? thanks man !

  • @SagutoGolf

I'm glad that helped you! With less than full swings, you're still going to tilt at the same angle that the club shaft length dictates; you'll simply stop your backswing at the appropriate point to fit the shot you are playing. Tom
