I absolutely love your podcast and your colour palette and choice of yarns and wish i could afford the same ones, hopefully one day lol. your choices are great examples to base my own projects on. Im loving the little additions of 'what we say in the South' im obsessed. Your accent is much more interesting to listen to than our very boring New Zealand one. I love your podcast and could listen to you speak all day, a great way to end a busy day at work! Please keep posting😊
Hey I had chickens most of my life and they really love the rain because the worms come up to the surface and they can run around and get the worms anyways love you so much thank you for your podcast

That makes sense!
The floral dress with that slipover are a perfect match!!! If you find the turtleneck bothering your neck, I would suggest using a little silk handkerchief around your neck to have a little barrier between your skin and the yarn! It could look so cute! I ave the Tuft Woolens Honey Lavender hand balm and it smells sooooo good - reminds me of warm summer days. Your quilt block project bag is so beautiful. I love listening to your "farm talk" section. Your chickens have so much personality. Thanks for sharing your makes and thought process Kaci. Take care~Stephanie

That is a wonderful tip about the handkerchief! I must share that from you on the next episode!
Oh my goodness. I saw that 9” of twisted rib for the neck on that slipover, and I said “nope” !

Ice is no fun!!
I think what you're doing is a tubular bind off too! Andrea Mowry has a tutorial video that comes with her pattern of the DRK Everyday Sweater and it's specifically a tubular bind off on 1 needle. I'm sure it's just the same yarn direction, but just not seperate out your stitches to 2 needles. Also, your dedication to fix the brioche in your bandana shawl is awesome!

Thank you!
I think a regular bind off in pattern looks really neat. I tend to think, no one is looking that closely at the hem of my sweater and they are definitely not going to think it looks bad even if it could have looked a tiny bit nicer if I'd taken the time to do a more complex bind off 😆
Winter weather in the south is no joke! I used to make fun of the south freaking out over snow. Then I moved to south and experienced a southern snow, its no joke! You have a greater threat for freezing rain and ice so it just makes it deadly, no one can deal with ice! The lack of infrastructure in the south for winter weather is what makes it so hazardous and y'all know it so I totally respect the shutting everything down when winter strikes now. The south knows all too well how deadly the weather can be.

Yeah- having lived in Alaska and Norway, I love the snow. It just doesn’t t make sense for our municipalities and counties to spend too much money on equipment and materials for it, because it doesn’t happen often. I don’t mind driving in the snow, and I think it’s funny that snow makes everyone freak out. We jokingly call it the white death because the stores are picked clean if there’s even a flake projected. Lol. And a 4 wheel drive will get you killed on ice if you think it’s invincible!
It will feel prickly until your body warms up. I knit a cardigan in the alpaca lite.

I’m liking it so far!
Hello from Mounds Illinois. We got lots of ice here. More ice than snow haven’t been out yet it’s 13 degrees here and very cold. I have two nieces that live in Arkansas, so I know what it’s like with the ice.

Ice is no fun! A pretty snow is a different story.
I would call what you are doing a seen tubular bind off. I love her tutorials and that method is my preferred bind off. I think it looks better than when I have transferred to two needles.

I'm really, really digging the low contrast of your colorwork mittens. And that Birch Creek Bandanna! Your palette is amazing!

NC weather is just like AR weather. We shut down for the slightest thing...freezing rain, snow flurries...🌨 The Teddy Bear sweater is so cute! Wow, I did not know that bees "kick out" the dead ones.🐝The Terrazzo Slipover looks great with your dress.

I really enjoy your channel! As far as bind offs, I find a video tutorial by Suzanne Bryan helpful. She compares (and demonstrates ) Italian bind off and tubular bind off. I’ve found that Italian works well for me, and it has fewer steps than Tubular. The tutorial is called Invisible Bind Offs for K1P1 Ribbing, Italian vs Tubular.

Cannot wait to hear the next edition of what southern people say when they're mad. 😂 Berroco Alpaca is one of my kid's favorite yarn! I've knit him a few sweaters in it and he loves them, says they're the warmest and softest, and I have enjoyed knitting with the yarn so much too! I love your caramel colorway and am feeling heavily influenced to cast on a terrazzo slipover too!!

As someone who lives in a place with serious winter, I will never ever drive on ice either. It's just not worth it. Snow is fine. Ice is another story altogether, so I support your town just shutting down for a few days. I always just bind off in pattern. For baby things I'll use the Elastic Bind Off on the sleeves. Your outfit with the dress and the slipover is going to be so pretty!

Here in Northern Ireland we have lots of funny phrases too. I love hearing phrases from other parts of the world. The colour of the slipover is beautiful and will go perfectly with your lovely dress. Thanks for another wonderful podcast.

Yay! Love your Terrazzo! Such a great pattern! I have been wearing mine so much since it came off the needles! I loved seeing your project bag ☺️ I have been really wanting to make one but have never done much quilt sewing so I am definitely going to check out the pattern you recommended and give it a go!

Hi Kaci 😊 I'm just tuning into your podcast for the first time and I really enjoyed it! I love your aesthetic and colour choices. Your low contrast mittens are just beautiful 😍 It was wonderful to learn about how your farm critters are dealing with the colder weather. Thanks so much for sharing 🥰

Thank you so much Nikki!! That means so much coming from you!!!
I love your dress. The sweater will be perfect with it. I hope you try it on so I can see it. I love that look. Most of my friends don’t wear dresses and I think a loose fitting dress looks so nice on anybody and a sweater with it is even nicer. I also love the square scarf. I want to make it and I probably will.

That pullover will be perfect with your dress! And I love those mittens! I’ve been eyeing that book, Knits About Winter. Have you made many projects from it? We do that 4-wheeler sledding here too!

I haven’t made any yet but I have several I’d like to!!
Look up the episode of Fruity Knitting that is the second part of their Kaffe Fasset interview. In that episode is a great tubular bindoff tutorial. So clear and easy!

I will do that!
I love your episodes Kaci, it’s been a real joy to discover your channel! I’d really like to know the difference between all those bind offs too...it’s confusing!!! I use the same tubular bind off technique as you, the effect is beautiful and it’s less faff. I’ve tried the method that has you splitting the stitches between 2 needles (I think it was an Andrea Mowry video I followed) but I couldn’t see much difference. Then I recently worked my first Petite Knit pattern and followed her instructions for an ‘Italian bind off’, which seemed to be pretty much the same thing but with more set up rows. I didn’t like the finished bind off at all though, it was quite bulky. I have a feeling they’re all the same thing, just with different names 🤨

My father in law says “it’s colder than a witch’s t*t”…what?!?!?! Now it know witches need sweaters😂😂😂😂
Do you have a favorite Suri that you use? I have a hard time when I am on the search for Suri. Seems everyone has mohair instead.
I think maybe a bind off in pattern was a good choice for a child’s sweater that’s going to get every day rough use. Maybe tubular bind off for an adult sweater or a sweater that you want to have a very finished look. Just my 2 cents worth.

Very true!! I agree
I've seen a pattern say "do a tubular / sewn bind off" so I suspect that those are the same! idk about italian, though
