This is one of those songs that feels exactly as it was meant to. It takes you far away, to another world.

This song demonstrates a haunting level of restraint. You can tell there is so much emotion behind the lyrics, but Sameer keeps his delivery airtight. And the melancholy of him crooning at the end is enough to give me chills.

I find the restraint mentioned to be for one, representation of repressed desire and emotion, especially to his love ('I thought you knew that I'd be coming", "I could never hold you"), but also, more importantly, the gentle vocals help allow the song to not just be heard as a song, but also as a poem, which is evidenced by the beautiful lyrics rich in metaphor :)

For the past 10 or so years i have kept coming back to this song. I don't think i would ever forget it. There is something about it, something otherworldly.

13 years of this song, and it still does exactly what I need it to.. eases the suffering, makes me feel when I can no longer, many long nights, many long drives stuck on this song. Forever grateful for this album ❤

I will never have the accurate words to express how this melody and lyrics make me feel nor where it takes me… it’s unexplained. A dream. And these guys nail it every time. In all their songs. All. To Sameer and Band, I’ve been listening to you guys since the first day. Young The Giant is and will always be my favorite Band EVER. A million times, thank you. 🙏🏽🥹♥️✨

Fun fact, Sameer was a creative writing major so that is why their songs have very deep and unique meanings. I love them so much and if you've never seen them live you should go to one, you will not be disappointed.

I don't really listen to Indie music, this was a recommended song by a friend of mine. It was a song on repeat for me two years ago. After 2 years, the melody of this song has been stuck in my head. I couldn't remember the name of the song, or the name of this band. Only the melody, not even any whole lyrics. I searched for 5 minutes, here it is. I almost cried when I found it.

He was in no rush singing this song... reminiscent of holding the woman he was thinking of as he wrote it..

Its such a simple song yet it takes you somewhere...

"Under water..." feels. I have them. Also chills, I have those too.

I remember the first time I listen to this song, I was in lov with someone that did not love me, I remember this song taking me, taking me a place I can only define by tranquility, I feelt floating in the ocean, I felt so huged by this... Damn, that was a long time ago.

The calendar has just flipped to 2023 and I’m still completely haunted by this song. The part you mentioned might be one of the most beautiful few seconds of music I’ve ever heard. Just perfect.

I reamemebr back in 2013 or around then forget what year of highschoo my english teach whonwas also pur theatre teacher gave us a soundtrack project which he did with other assignments where we relate the a song to a real life event or writing and write about its relevancy to said track and why. I chose this track for the book the great gatsby, because there is line about him whishing he could through his love interest up to rest upon a cliud and just look uoon it or whatever. Me relating it to a fading ungraspable thing. One of my favorite YTG songs
