    Unfortunately, the game isn't very good. Never mind the highly unbalanced equipment and the fact that backstab crits break the game entirely, but the game takes a nosedive in quality after beating Tetcha. After her, all the enemies pretty much play out the same way, with very little variance the entire way through. Speccing in attack and using the double blades (specifically the one you get from the first goblin assassin boss) is pretty much the way to go. And the bosses after Tetcha are pretty much trash, even the final boss. For some reason they either become incredibly susceptible to easy parries or you can just keep running behind them and they'll keep using the same ineffective attack (looking at you kao-khon). And the Story? Massive trash. Aside from the intro, you never get a feeling that the kids 'don't belong'. And then there's mayor Walden, which for no reason whatsoever, is treated like utter trash in the ending for zero reasons. If my may go into spoilers. The kids pretty much go on to decide he's wrong and he should be incarcerated. I'm pretty Sure Walden wasn't the one who initially attacked the goblin society. In fact, what he did as mayor is. -take in a bunch of goblin refugees. -build a machine to protect the town -gave the kids access to get deeper into the gates -never exploited the professor or anyone really -save the teens from Dwarvengobben -agrees to the compromise In other words, the writing is utter and complete trash, with the only interesting tidbits was the interaction of the goblins before you slay them one by one.

    Did you play on the recommended difficulty or did you choose balanced? Im guessing you chose the second one from the top? The intended vision is the challenging difficulty. Enemy's do 100% of their damage if they strike you and you only get 1 life. The game is decently difficult right from the start but I do agree the enemy patterns are way to easy to predict and dodge and they can all be stunlocked at times. I don't think the games bad imo. I went in knowing I'm not gonna give a f about the story so I just fast forward. I think I just listened at the start to get an idea. Some guy that isn't their dad goes missing blah blah. It's just a mindless hack and slash rpg I don't know why you were expecting a deep game.

    Also I hope you never bought it? It was on gamepass day 1 and you can get gamepass for a dollar when you first sign up. On pc, xbox, and mobile. But if you did buy it I definitely understand being let down. I didn't so my thoughts are just whatever I'll stop playing it. Guardians of the galaxy was also just added to gpass the same day. That's a game I would have never bought and it really surprised me. It's fun as hell.

  • @LuizPrower

    @LuizPrower

    @@HonkeyKong54 I did challenging first as I am a vet to these type of games. Its the fact the mechanics and most of the bosses are braindead easy, and Back crit quite literally breaks most of the game, while other bosses are just mindlessly easy period. And since I specced in STR only, the ghost area wasn't any real challenge as well due to killing the enemies before they can really do anything. My main issue is that since the gameplay was subpar, the story should have made up for it, which it didn't. I put the game on some footing with Dragon's Crown, and DC is a much better RPG beat em up than Young Souls.

  • @sacta

    @@LuizPrower That is a shame to hear, but I was interested in the game just from the beautiful visuals and character design. I'd have put up with mediocre gameplay and even a sub par story if it was creative enough, but from your summary, I do feel it'd go beyond just sub par, straight into leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Well, hey, I already beat Odin Sphere, and I haven't played my copy of Dragon's Crown yet. Might as well follow your suggestion and get around to that instead

    Thanks for the review! Initially I thought it looked like a great game to play with my young daughter...but wait...rated M? Foul language? Unfortunate move from the developers. Even if it can be "turned off" its unneeded. I am so tired of "edgy" swearing in games. Sure, many will not mind it...but for those of us that do...1P2P games just lost potential customers. And for what? Does the swearing add to the game in any meaningful way?

    In this type of game it seems utterly unnecessary. Adults who like the genre would buy it anyway if the gameplay is good - all they are doing is missing out on younger players.

    Teenagers swear a lot. It's kind of their thing. Part of rebelling against the constraints adults put on them plus when you're a teenager you're starting to push boundaries. Plus they're twin redheads. I dunno if you've ever been around redheads but there's a reason they have a reputation for being fiery lol. Honestly, if you don't want your kids exposed to it that's fine there's an option to turn it off but just because you don't like swearing doesn't mean it isn't a fact people swear, and that it really shouldn't be as big a deal as some folks make it out to be. They're just words.

  • @antiquecardboard

    @antiquecardboard

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@ZiddersRooFurry Putting aside the fact that swearing may be offensive, the more important point is that swearing is an incredibly annoying and uncreative way of talking. Probably why teenagers swear a lot. They are immature. It is just unpleasant to listen to. I loose faith in a artist's ability to make good art when they use unneeded vulgarity as a crutch for character development. It's just bad form. And its especially apparent in the above example because Young Soul's great art style contrasts so garishly with the juvenile dialogue.
