Sweet doesn't protect couples from outside and inner forces that destroy relationships. Sadly, people today are MORE unaware of the work a relationship takes, and there's even more outside forces threatening it. Hook up culture has completely crushed traditional marriage culture. Family law is corrupt. Media rarely promotes wholesome anything. Most sweet couples don't stand a chance.

@@Niveous23 or, people just start a relationship to soon. Settle for somebody that isnt an actual match, and down the line pay the price. In the past people stayed married longer, but that does not equal happy families. I know plenty of boomer and older couples who are still married, and miserable whilst doing so. And plenty of younger gen people who married twice, got divorced again, and are still living their best lives today. I prefer seeing happy people over people who stay together because they where once happy. Both in the past and today, people get married or hook up with the wrong people. The difference is in the past you where stuck with your poor choices or else would face social stigma. Especialy as a women. This day and age it's easier to walk away when the relationship is no longer working, which is good. Divorce is not a bad thing. People divorce as friends all the time as well. Being stuck in a loveless or unhappy marriage is 100 times worse then divorce. My parents divorced when I was 4. Best choice either ever made. I would have grown up in a house of constand fights if they had not done so. Instead I had a fantastic childhood with 2 parents that where happy, and 2 birthday parties, and 2 times our version of christmas, more friends (kids living in the same street as dad, kids living in the same flat as mom) etc. Divorce is not a problem. However hooking up and/or marrying somebody to quickly is. You need to find somebody who shares your values and ideas for the future. If one wants a child and one not, thats doomed to fail. if one wants to travel and one doesnt, thats going to create tension. If one wants a dog and the other doesnt, that could lead to resentment. If one smokes and one doesnt and doesnt want smoke in the house, thats a ticking time bomb. Love and sexual atraction are NOT enough. You need to be able to be a team on important choices in life. You need to be on the same page. if your not, no matter how much fun you have together, dont start a romantic relationship. There is nothing wrong with a society that stopped glorifying marriage, which has often been a cage to many people in life. There is something wrong however with just casualy hooking up, and breaking up after 1 fight, asuming a relationship must always be fun and giggles. A relationship should NOT be a constand struggle. It should NOT make you depressed. But it does require work and efford from time to time. There is a balance there. And people often neglect this. They give up to quickly, or stick around to long.
