Hi Jennifer. Thanks for tackling this and sharing your story. I was married when diagnosed so it's difficult for me to understand what it must be like to be diagnosed and single. I have to say though, the prospect of being alone at this point in my life scares me.

Thank you David!! I do understand the fear and scary thought of being alone with Parkinson's...being alone at any point in life is never easy, but we can do it. I've promised myself that if that were to happen, I'd cry when I needed to cry, but would do all I could to make the best of it. Write a book...read as many books as I could...get creative and paint some squiggly abstract paintings to let out my frustrations and do my best to focus on what I have. As much in life, some things are easier said than done.

I’m so happy that you found your Prince Charming! If something happened to my lady, I would probably just curl up in a ball for the rest of my life. However, I’m sure your story will inspire anyone who hears it!

You’re the first person I know who found love and got married with Parkinson’s. My now husband noticed my tremor and made me go to the doctor. We married just 2 months after the diagnosis - he’d proposed 6 months earlier. I am not technically young onset at 56, but all the other people are dealing with kids and grandchildren. I’m still getting used to being married for the first time.

It's amazing really! This is also my first marriage, and I especially feel for those who have young kids along with Parkinson's. Those are know with kids and PD rock it....it's also amazing what we are capable of despite having PD! 🥰

Hi, i'm about to be diagnosed after many years with YOPD at 37. I'm very tepid about the road ahead.. I've read all I can and wondering about personal experience. Does your levodopa still work after these 8 years (I believe in another video you said you were diagnosed 38 and now 46). And had you considered DBS? I hope you're doing well. Keep up the great videos!

Hi! My Levodopa does still work thankfully! But I have more off times and even so I am happy and making the most of it. Personally I try not to look too far ahead in terms of where I will be at with my progress, I find it overwhelming, and when it comes down to it, it's only speculation. Even if I did know where exactly I'd be in 5 years I would have to think hard about how that knowledge would benefit me today? The truth is I could get cancer next year, or have a stroke, there are so many other bad things that are out there as well. Parkinson's has truly made me understand what living for today means and has also given me a level of appreciation for the little things that I wasn't capable of previously. Regarding DBS....I have considered it but it scares me. For me it's something I leave as a last resort option, meaning things would need to be really bad. I am holding out for a new option hopefully and would mostly likely look into the Duopa pump and see what would be best for me. This is where decisions like getting DBS are so personal because what I consider really bad may be quite different from how you define really bad. Your question has inspired me to do a video today, thank you for reaching out and asking your questions! You can also email me jennifer@thewigglesproject.com : ) I hope my response helps and wish you the best!!

Not at all. I was single when I was diagnosed, and we started dating about a month after my diagnosis. I waited a couple of weeks before telling him and when I did he couldn't have been kinder about it....Truly met and years later married an amazing human being! They are out there :)
