No, it was a necessary consequence. Spanking, taking objects away or putting her in time out wouldn’t have done anything. She got what she deserved.

Furthermore, teaching a child a lesson or giving them a taste of their own medicine is not scarring. It is healthy to set boundaries and punish bad behavior. Punishments should be proportionate to the crime. That Ghandi quote is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, if anything retribution is the most equitable and humane way of dealing with bad behavior. If you steal from someone, you give them something of yours, buy something new or give them the money to replace it. If you break something, replace it. If you physically harm or bully someone else, you get a spanking. If you insult someone for being impoverished or the way they dress, all of your nice things (which are earned and a gift) are taken away for a week. Simple and effective.

Everyone in the classroom was against me. Soooo after a few years later they picked on me for having a broken arm saying "it isn't broken", teachers never did anything. Then of course I started the most evil way. Even to the point I exposed them on their lies. I guess u can say I went too far. I mean it far too late for them to say sorry.

+caycug1 Proverbs 13:24. They were following that verse and you are so blind to the simplest of God's Words that you couldn't even see it. They have insight to their daughter that you couldn't possibly have. You haven't any idea what would really work with that particular child. They were quite creative and I'll bet it made a permanent and lasting impression on her that simply a good, loving talking-to would never have had. Matthew 7:1 - 3. That's what you did with your very first comment; you made an insane judgement that was way off in the stratosphere it was so ridiculous. Get to work on that beam in your own eye before you start looking at the motes in others' eyes. And nobody was bullying you. From the looks of it everyone was being much kinder to you than you deserved.

Don't forget to drink your Cyanide agreed! First thing my mom did when she caught me picking on another girl was to call my brother and cousins and have them tease me. Then she said, you're upset that people that love you are picking on you. She may not be as lucky to have somebody that loves her. You don't have to be her friend if you don't get along but I expect you to apologize and at least be polite. Well. I thought about it, and I asked. The girl had been mean to me before I picked on her, but I learned that her mom and dad were divorcing and she had been sent to school in Texas and was actually very jealous of all the nice things I had. So I helped her make friends in our class, gave her a few things I wasn't using, and we got along fine. We're not ”best friends” or even that close but I learned that day that hurt people hurt others, and reacting badly just makes them hurt more.

There is a line between abuse and discipline and I believe the mother took the appropriate course of action. She gave her daughter the opportunity to walk in someone else's shoes. It's very clear some people these days do not have the money to buy brand clothes and to be honest, I don't see why thrift shop clothing is bad either... kids these days are too spoiled to understand the struggle that is economy... Besides, this mother prevented her daughter from doing any future bullying, I call that a win in my book.

My sister-in-law was one of 17 children who grew up in West Virginia under the most poor conditions you can never imagine. But my sister-in-law was extremely brilliant and mine because she read constantly. But her family moved from the hills of West Virginia to Orlando Florida. Her mother took her to the thrift store to buy school clothes for her, and because she didn't know any better she bought all prom gowns and wore them to school and she was known as the girl with the prom dresses. She was bullied and made fun of. Some girls in the school went to the guidance counselor and asked for intervention to help my sister-in-law. All the girls got together and they wardrobe to her with some of their own clothing and the guidance counselor explained what was appropriate for school and she was dressed to the hilt. The girls that defended my sister-in-law, or what we really need more of in the world we live in with the bully mentality and what you wear you're all ugly anyway if you no matter how much you spend on your clothing if you're ugly in your soul and someday you'll look in the mirror and you will see the very ugly person you are that came out of your person. Be kind and beautiful and you will be beautiful no matter what you wear. The ugly and bullish and it will show up on your face like warts on a witch.

There was no way that girl could sympathize with her classmate that she bullied until she walked a day in her shoes. Bravo bonus mom and dad (I hate the word step LOL)! I probably would've reverted back to what I knew worked on me and spanked her, and that's only because I don't have that creative process in my brain. The thing is that is relative you know. You gotta know your child, in this case it was great and she learned the lesson. But the same treatment on other child could have gone really bad, a child with social anxiety could have focused way too much on what others say about them and instead of (just?) learning the lesson it could be worsening her/his anxiety and even traumatize the kid. You know, it’s not drama if it’s real and people should respect the differences on people, there’s not a formula for everyone.

It's like...yes, it DOES make them feel "less than." That is the point. This girl thought she was MORE THAN someone else, and "talking to her" (who is, indeed, a CHILD) is NOT as likely to reach the same impact. Children don't have the depth of awareness adults do, or the ability to understand, empathize, or rationalize things they don't understand, and SOME kids bully because they don't actually KNOW what it's like to feel "less than," and would think twice if they actually, truly KNEW how horrible their words make others feel. We don't know EXACTLY what was said, but I'd bet in the 2 days she had to wear them, she eventually heard things that were very similar to the things she was saying. A lot of bullies end up eating their own words later in life, but to so quickly be forced to have them cast unto you...no wonder she's now friends with the girl. And she's at a young enough age where that would have been enough to make her rethink her attitude. Hopefully everyone who watches this story has ignored the "doctor's" warning LOL.
