YOUNG FAMILY Builds Amazing Off Grid WOODEN HOUSE
Hello!
We are 25 - years young married couple from Slovenia, and with help from our parents we managed to build this beautiful OFF GRID CABIN.
We started started with our project in April 2021 and finished it in October 2022 but I have to say that we were working only in our free time and for weekends, because we all have a full time job.
This log cabin is a part of our future camping area and we are planing to rent it in the future, but for now it serves as our cozy home.
I tried as hard as possible to make this video shorter, but it is hard to put more thousands of hours of work in less than 2 hours.
Nevertheless, I really hope you will enjoy the video!
If you want more detailed building, please check my steb by step video series here: / playlistlist=plyigcgg_...

Don't be embarrassed. You just discovered what consumer psychology is all about. Marketing 101.
I can't believe I just sat for two hours and 20 minutes and still haven’t finished your video. Absolutely fascinating what are your construction techniques being from the US it’s exciting to see skills of people in other countries the extra steps they take while building. At my age 79 I live vicariously through you younger folks and I am absolutely fascinated buy the things some of you do. So I'm gonna watch the rest of this video and I have signed up to see what else you guys are gonna be up to in the future. Be well stay safe and I have a bunch of questions but the one most important to me is did you design us build yourself. Almost time for my bedtime.

Do not be discouraged by people’s negative comments. They are sitting in armchairs & complaining about you-they are jealous that they cannot accomplish the beautiful home you have made!!
Beautiful home you made-you should be so proud of this!
Beautiful! ALL wood and BIG, simple windows = is just so beautiful with all the lush green forest! I grew up on 5 acres in beautiful Colorado, in a home my parents built. I’ll always TREASURE EVERY memory of growing up surrounded by such natural beauty!

What strikes me most, is the work ethic! That's a lot of work and a lot of manhours all in side of 6 months! Great video. I got here via Nik's videos, but this is my favourite log cabin build on KZread so far. The style of build is similar to the "flatpacked" log cabins that we buy from Holland which we slot together without screws. I think it is fine to screw the wall logs together if you are cladding the building.
What a beautiful build. Doing it together made it even more special. I hope you have many blessings living in your lovely cabin.

Like you I built a small cabin (450 sq feet or 42 sq meter). I live in it near the Canadian border in northern Minnesota USA. I enjoyed watching you build your cabin and I say well done. I noticed a small building you have that looks like a sauna. Perhaps that will be my next project. I know my 70-year-old bones will appreciate the heat. Thanks for sharing your video.

I love the Ikea Kit-like feel of the house. It's so logical and stepwise... truly as if someone had designed the entire build around simplicity and function and placed it at a level of novice DIY'ers. It is truly inspiring and confidence building. I love the construction materials and techniques for assembly. It really speaks to an emphasis of quality that you just don't see in typical American construction. It has opened my eyes to a whole new world of options. Thank you for sharing.

Spectacular! Lego's is what I kept calling Your tongue & groove milled lumber! Loved that no finish work needed, no drywall, no insulation, no outside siding, etc. I' intend on doing the same as you, with a uniquely added twist.. NO trees or wood...Waste plastic for a completely plastic house! I'll be extruding [into molds] plastic lumber in the same shape/size with same tongue & groove. Thanks for the great innovative style!

Greetings from Central Pennsylvania, USA. I watched the entire video and loved it all. Very interesting to see the differences in building practices in the US and Europe. My family built log houses in the NorthWest US over 40 years ago. We did not cover the interior and exterior walls as you did so that was interesting. Though we did the roof similar to what you did. Tongue and groove boards on the ceiling for the interior finish and foam insulation on the exterior covered with purlins and metal roofing. You possibly got more thermal break with your layers of purlins and your insulation was thicker. I like those metal tiles but ours was long sheet metal. It was easier to wire the house with your interior wall method. We had to drill for wiring as each layer of log was laid and no room for error. I loved all your finishes --T&G walls and tile in the bathroom. The mountain scene in the loft was beautifully done Sasha. I never made it on the roof so kudos to you. I always stayed firmly on the ground and handed up supplies. I do remember one terrifying day when I had to go up on the walls and mark the location of all the 2nd floor joists for the crew I had that day. Never got me to do that again!! Thank you so much for sharing your project.

Something else you can use to fill in wood cracks, is mixing saw dust with wood glue. You can also use that mixture to fill in holes from brad nails, finishing nails, wood screws. You can even stain those areas with wood stains.

Interesting build but right off the start the rebar installation in the concrete installation is totally wrong. The rebar should be imbedded in the concrete at least 3 inches otherwise moisture will cause it to rust and weaken the concrete. For longevity I would think about adding more concrete and rebar around those areas.

That's pretty amazing! Will be nice to see how ur bedrooms and living room is going to be set up. I have to admit that having a kitchen and living room combined on top floor would be amazing. Having a deck off the kitchen for BBQ would be quite the view. Being that a kitchen would be high up, less chances of certain wildlife being a problem.
