Awesome. My portable compressor came off the side of the road too. I've been using it now for 24yrs! Only problem it had when l found it was the exact opposite issue. The air filter assembly had been snapped off. The plastic threaded part was still screwed in the cylinder head. I ended up just making one out of PVC pipe odds n ends l had laying around. Stufffed it with part of a foam sponge l cut to fit. I give the sponge a light squirt of WD40 once or twice a year to help trap dust.

@Fixologist1 not sure where in the south you live but judging what your area trashes, you must be in a wealthier area. You never see this stuff on the curb in rural Oklahoma where I live. We use shit till bitter end

Air has a lot of moisture in it. Never leave a tank with air in it or you will rust the tank from the inside and contaminate what you are painting or even putting air ( and thus water ) in a tire . Got a pancake compressor and it has no air in it right now. You should do so as well. They also make a moisture trap you could add to the outflow connector to the tank but make sure the relief valve points down on it like mine. Very necessary for painting small plastic models as you want the dryest air possible. Great job going over it Brad to find the real problem in the air filter.

My biggest concern is one rusting to the point where the walls become thin and it explodes under pressure. It's extremely important to drain the air after every use and not let it sit full of moisture.

On that note, I make sure to blast the water out under full pressure with the release valve positioned at the lowest point on the tank. This removes more water than just leaning it over and letting it flow out from its own weight. For this reason, I prefer tanks with the release valve in the bottom, but some tanks you may have to tilt over while the air blasts out. It may seem trivial but it's a real safety concern as tanks have been known to explode from prolonged rust erosion.

For small model painting, it's almost more efficient to buy bottled nitrogen to power airbrushes, since it's nice and dry, and non-toxic. A high pressure nitrogen cylinder lasts a LONG time in this scenario.😉

These videos and this channel have become the highlight of my Saturday nights. Along with Shango066 and Usagi Electric (vintage computers and vacuum tube electronics), and Mustie1 (similar wrenching) on Sundays, and some similar others, it’s a great weekend of DIY video watching and learning. Just please don’t stop doing amps also, and I’m going to keep saying this, only because I care about your longevity with this stuff; please, get/build a work bench, and/or lift, and also, I will continue to “harass” you about doing a motorcycle or mini-bike, because I know when you eventually do, it will be amazing… 😊😊😊

I have a compressor just like that, but mine had goop for oil. Changed oil, replaced burned up pressure switch, and it's been working for 5 or 6 years now.😉 I have 2 extra 10 gallon tanks hooked to mine for more capacity, and it keeps up with my air tools a lot better. I actually have a 2 stage Curtis compressor with a 60 gallon tank, but the motor is burned up and it's like $300 for a new one, so this is/was a temporary replacement that never got replaced yet.😄

I have this exact model, it sat for about five years, the oil looked/looks good and at proper level. The last time I plugged it in and turned it on it sounded like it was struggling and then it just stopped. Is there a resettable Breaker or fuse hidden somewhere? Or do I have to purchase a whole new pressure sensor? Thank you 👍

I’ve got another idea for you. See if you can acquire and figure out how to fix a dehumidifier (which is basically a small air conditioner on wheels, without the cooling aspect). I go through dehumidifiers like crazy (out buildings and such; extremely high humidity in Southwest Georgia), and I know whatever kills them has to be minor. They still run, but just don’t dry air any more (or very inefficiently). So I literally have a COLLECTION of old non-dehumidifying dehumidifiers. Maybe I should send you one to figure out, and then I’ll know how to fix the rest of mine. Almost no one is making videos about these repairs. It’s like a “Dark Art” or something… LOL!

True. I did pull the trigger on this a little soon, but when I ordered I was pretty confident it would solve the probem, and reasoned that if it wasn't the problem, I'd still be out little money on a part I might need at some point anyway. But you're right. I'd send this back if I could.

Them little buggers mudded over my key slot on my mower and the gas feed tubes on my grill.(anything left outside is fair game)! They'll even clog the drain hoses on your vehicles a/c system. I try to cover everything up that's left outside.

I’ve had that same compressor over 10 years. You can usually adjust the cut in and cut out pressures on the pressure switch. Mine cut in at 90 psi and cuts out at 130.

Wow nice pick man! Those little compressors are bad@$$! They push about twice as many CFM that many other compressors of that size!

Reminds me of sling blade. It out gas… 🤦‍♂️ There are a lot of time when the simplest problem is just that, simple. Is it plugged up, did you put gas in it…😂😂😂

being in construction most all my life I knew that was a rolair when I saw the color, that's their color, rolair makes TOL compressors, most your union jobs will use them, made in USA or were.. great pickup compressor . . . Emgo and Rolair are tops

water won't hurt the insides of the tank, they get that way why they have the clear out valve, you can get a water trap and put it in between the pump and tanks that will eliminate water from entering the tanks.. if you need dry air

see that brass valve with the ring right next to the gauge? tats the "pop off" valve, it will pop before anything bad happens to the compressor, basically opens up the airway and bleeds air, let it go till it shuts off or the valve pops off... yea 125-135 lbs is the proper range for a hitachi nail gun so 105 is low, too low for tools, I bet its a 160lb pump, don't let its size fool ya those are very nice compressors, very rugged as well

DOWN HERE WE CALL THEM "MUD WASPS" IN NEW YORK & NEW JERSEY ! IN CENTRAL NEW JERSEY YOU COULD FIND SO MANY TOOLS, THAT WERE THROWN AWAY EACH YEAR PEOPLE MADE SMALL BUSINESSES OUT OF IT.

Off topic but, down here in south Alabama our Dirt Daubers build different kinda nests than the ones you showed. Ours build little mud pots. They're shaped like a bottle of good tequila. They even have little bottkenecks at the top. You'll see the kind you showed occasionally. But the little mudpot builders are more common. Like 100/1...

Yeah but if it’s only leaking when it’s running it’s kind of hard to spray it with soapy water. Especially when air is blowing on it
