@@aprilkatie6752 Internal Discrimination to mean is when you discriminate against others based on things you don't like about yourself because people have made fun of you or made you feel bad about things like your complexion, hair, figure, etc. Example, some black people vehemently desire to have light skin children, with hopes that they also have "good hair", because they feel that looks better and prettier than dark skin, with tight coils. Just my opinion 🤷🏽

When I was to told you have PCOS we can do something about it, I started following any infertility story I never knew I will diagnosed with adenomyosis which has made it impossible for me to conceive. The point Falcon was making was you didn't see brown-brown girls on the cover of fashion magazines, commercials, newspapers, mainstream movies etc. Thank goodness for Ebony, Jet, and Essence for constantly celebrating ALL aspects of Black culture. There were plenty of brown-skinned girls but they werent getting the checks or opportunities they are today. Ask Viola Davis, Alfre Woodard, or Angela Bassett about their struggles. As Oprah often says when you are excellent you cannot be denied --eventually those doors will open. Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby had more opportunities back in the day then their female counterparts. That is what made Diahnn Carroll in "Julia" so groundbreaking and Nichelle Nichols as Lt. Uhura in Star Trek. They kicked it off for sisters in prime time with non-traditional roles. Hollywood used to love to keep an apron on us or have us playing some chick on the corner. I celebrate and cherish the pioneers, especially Ms. Cicely! All Hail the Queen!

First off, I love Gab and Tam... and I'm glad they are touching on the topic of colorism...BUT let's take the conversation further... We live in a society where some people just don't appreciate beautiful brown skin.. People in general don't realize that there's some dark Asians and South east Indian people out there. My dad is very chocolate like Tamron (yes, that dark) and my mom is fair skin and you get this caramel ( me! lol) and I definitely don't see people like me on television, let alone an Asian person (if we really wanna talk about diversity) It's VERY triggering when I hear the topic of colorism (but the discussion is needed) cause it affects an Asian person like me too!

Yep people actually check babies ears and knuckles to say what their true colour shade would be. This happens in 2021 within families

Black folks still do that. I had a family member pinch my son's nose and my aunt permed my daughter's hair without my permission while I was at work. 😤

I actually had a doctor argue with me, but it's real. The back or tip of the ears and the color of the skin before the nail bed. He was shocked... He was also white.

Not to down play her experience by all means however in the black community we always check the the fingers and the tip of the ears.. really doesn’t matter either way but we do it🥰😊so I’m not sure how that should be taken.
