    Great video. A suggestion: You could also use a plastic or silicone ice cube tray stuffed with play dough to make those stand up. Or a bit of hot glue on a piece of foam board. That way you wouldn’t risk sand going everywhere if it spilled and just bag up the play dough for later use. If I were doing multiples for mass production, I would just make a mold of the base and then store it with the jewelry molds. Just a few thoughts, hope they are helpful to someone!😊

    Have been looking at those, but have begged off since I don't use those molds all that much. I think I am going to rethink this and get those, as well as a couple more molds to use with the tops. Some of the pieces I have made with those gemstone sticks/crystal molds have been absolutely stunning, but again, having to do the screw eyes into the top doesn't always work like it should. Thank you for doing this, this is going to help expand my items further than what I have them now. 💜

    I love those molds, my favs. I also rinse with soapy water, easy to demold a trick from you on that old video I saved. I also have the six sided pendant pieces but not the other shapes. You just helped me yet again, Steve. You're my inspiration 😊. I really like the mixture of 2 colors. I made one more interesting piece compared to my others, I slanted my piece after each partial cure with different colors. Mind you, I used UV resin, and I absolutely loved it purple, clear , then silver. I'd love to show you it. Well, thank you again for making my resin crafting easier Steve, you're the best 👌 👍 😍 hugs from Québec Canada 🫂😊

    Hi, will these toppers tarnish?

  • @TheMurlocKeeper

    @TheMurlocKeeper

    7 ай бұрын

    Depends very much on what they're made of. Stainless steel? No, they'll be fine, as you'd expect. There's craft copper wire that you can get that has a plastic covering over it. It's often in many different colours. These too will not tarnish, as long as the plastic film is not scratched. Other cheaper wires can often dull quickly, so always check what it's made of. You can always clean the wire, dry it thoroughly (to remove all fingerprints) and then give it a light coat of protective lacquer or something. That will absolutely stop it from tarnishing for a long time. This is what is done with a lot of silver jewellery, to stop it going dull. The lacquer in question is often thinned, ( you don't want any thick globs forming on your piece) and then the piece is dipped, shaken off and allowed to dry. This is what jewellery makers and silversmiths do with their wire pieces to keep them looking shiny and perfect. Hope this helps! :D

    Strange. This Wednesday I got a suggestion from YT to watch a four years old video of yours. I never get info of your older videos. Ever. Only new ones, from both channels. This old video had a red background and you had that kind of moulds in your hands. And now this new video comes up with the moulds and a blue background. - and I even checked if this was a new one before I went ahead and watched it. And then in this new video you mention the video from years ago, and it getting lost in time and being buried. So, well, I can tell you No, it isn't lost. It's here. And I'm trying to understand why this happened. Either you pranked us or this is spookey business.

    Why don’t you make a cement mold that holds the other molds. THAT WAY, you won’t have to buy those styrofoam or green things that pollute your lungs. People worry about the resin, but not those things.

  • @TheMurlocKeeper

    Lol! Kinda a good point, but working with cement has it's own risks when it is dry and powdery. At that stage, it's kinda to the point of merely choosing a poison. :P Cement is certainly more robust and permanent though. Another quicker, easier substitute would be plaster...but dust-wise, it's no different than cement. It's easier to get, can get it in smaller quantities, and it sets faster, overall. :D
