You Won't Be Able To Film From Outside Unless Severn Trent Have Given You Permission 💩🎥🛸❌
Today we take a look at Severn Trent Water Minworth, Minworth, Sutton Coldfield B76 9DJ.
We speak to security on arrival and then return to the public footpath where we speak to a few people and take the drone over this amazing site.
We speak about the new thermal hydrolysis plant which they have on site at a cost of £60m and hear about tours which they do for a future visit. (for more information about the tour, email christopher.harper@severntrent.co.uk )
Enjoy!

Primary and secondary sediment tanks 17:30, 19:39 right hand side is aeriation tanks (fall in and you sink), 20:40 right side looks like the sludge tanks, which they mix with pellets, to make the gas, 20:55 when you zoomed in, that was the THP generators, that make the electricity, looks like they have 3 main and 2 back up (top left of the screen), 24:04 aeriation tanks again, looks like a well kept STW (sewerage treatment works)Great drone video, keep up the good work 👍
A warning needs to be posted that this channel is addictive, especially if one has an interest in industry-community relations. Every episode brings a new set and cast of characters getting the DJ treatment and having it recorded for posterity.. As an American I enjoy the many slices of English life and DJ's considerable social and language skills on display.

Hiiiiii Americaaa. My name is Sloch and I too am addicted to DJ AUDITS. It also only took one view of djs videos for me to became an addict. I try to limit myself. I know there are a finite amount of videos made available by DJ so I've started watching other auditors content so I never run out of the supply of this type of content. Like yourself I always return to my first. He's the best dang drone operating, environmentally conscientious, courteous, unflappable auditor I've yet to see. I'm hooked on watching him verbally eviscerate the unsuspecting. The drone footage is awe inspiring too. Fyi, we refer to pompous employees who project their self-imposed delusional authority upon others whilst at their work as "a jobsworth". Now, let's see what we can see.... from above.😂

Loved this video. Proud to be a Severn Trent employee for the last 6.5 years and not being too involved in the operational areas, I have a basic knowledge of what goes on but love learning a little bit more every day. In one of your first videos I watched I asked if that's what you meant by 'auditing done differently', and you very kindly more-or-less affirmed it. Nice one DJ, you're a good'un!
The gas from that plant is used to run large gas powered generators made by a company based in Austria called Jenbacher Energie they produce over 1,5 megawatts of electricity each and there are several there, The sets run very lean and the emissions are a lot better than just letting the gas go to atmosphere.

Never been to this site. But the Jenbachers look to have Heat recovery Steam Generators on the back of them. They generate steam from exhaust heat which is used in the THP to cook the sludge before it goes for digestion. No sludge comes out of the digesters to go to the farmers fields - as per the name, it gets digested. It's basically pasteurised after the THP anyway, so would be no good for growing.

Many years ago I worked for STW for a relatively brief time, I think that it was a six month contract. The Planning Dept needed some extra help before it was transferred from Leicester to B'ham. It was actually quite interesting, especially finding out that such a big company had a such a small planning dept. This was before electronic mapping systems were common place, and I got paid to draw certain zones on paper maps, basically colouring in all day! 😂
What annoys me is these businesses wont say anything about the inside but its public money that finances it. They seem to forget that and people like dj give us that opportunity to see where our money is going. Unless they have something to hide and they see "DAVID" a threat. 😀

You picked a really good Sewage Works here DJ, it'll be well worth you getting a guided tour of the site its a fascinating process of how they deal with the flow from the sewers ect. The long tanks with the bubbles are aeration lanes where fine bubbles of air are introduced at the bottom of the tank to help 'bugs' eat the organic matter that the flow has in it. If you look up 'Activated Sludge' it'll explain far easier than I can here.
Fantastic video DJ. I couldn't imagine the smell n chemicals in the atmosphere.. We have a tiny one in our industrial estate and they had to cap it due to complaints of bad smells. Great to see how sewage is recycled.. Stay safe matey😊👌♥️🇬🇧

The process is basically the same for both parts of the treatment plant...the regular uses the "bugs" to eat everything and then they use drying ponds or centrifuge to remove moisture...now take the process put a cover, maintain heat to a set temperature for the maximum efficiency without killing the bugs, to collect the methane to be used as a fuel source. Once the "bugs" do their job the sludge is dried ready to mix with mulch or dirt. My ex-husband was an operator at a waste water treatment plant...

Really impressed that sewage works are 'digesting' sludge and producing gas for the national gas grid. Methane is a worse greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide so its very good for that reason but it's also great for the economy. I'd love to know if this is standard practice. There are not many good news stories about UK sewage treatment but this is certainly one.
Oversees everything,Knows Nothing 🤣Cheers Rob

Blue truck at the end was delivering sludge from another works. "Flat thing" was a conveyor belt that takes the sludge to the THP to be blended with the site sludge for cooking before being put into the digestion tanks. Anerobic bacteria digests the sludge giving off methane which is captured and fed to the engines to convert to electricity.
