Sometimes the answer to optimizing your own setup... is to simplify. It's certainly not for everyone, but worth a shot to boil things down to what's important. 😊

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve had setups with three or more monitors, dedicated speakers, a huge custom build desktop, and various other things. None of them made me as happy as just having my iMac and only my iMac.

Non gonna lie, the distance from yourself and the laptop screen is driving me nuts.

I'll give it a couple of months, then you'll have an external display again 😉

i get ditching the oled tv but that laptop display being that far away is going to be bad for your eyes probably ideal with some kind of monitor

I can understand going from 42 inch to a smaller monitor, but 42 inch to 14 inch is too great a leap for my old eyes. Ken, take care of your eyes while you still can. lol

Definitely needs a monitor of some sort. 27" would be perfect for this setup

More simple than a screen and pc there isnt, this thing is more complicated and not confortable at all lmao

That laptop screen far back like that might be a bit challenging on the eye sight bro but the Vision Pro solves it haha

Maybe something like a 24-inch or 27-inch monitor would be a good medium? smaller than the tv but larger than the laptop display! :)

DUDE this is exactly what I did (except I had a big external monitor but got rid of it) to use just the MacBook Pro 14" display. The difference is that I also have my iPad Pro 11" on the right as an external monitor via Sidecar. I don't feel as crazy for doing this set up now that I have seen you do it. Keep it up! Add an iPad as an external monitor via USB cable if you need extra real estate.

I would need at least 27inch screen...vision isn't good enough for this setup.

1:16 - Me being more jealous of the Mika PikaZo art book than anything... Of course, I've been existing on a no-budget 'setup' for 15 years, the last 4 years of that being on a used ebay HP Pavilion 2017 laptop that I couldn't even update beyond the first Win10 install. I've used a Samsung A71 (& any of the NekoCake MoonDrop wireless earbuds I've gotten) as my main media consumption & only my old laptop as my 'work space'. What tech influencers usually never get is that the majority of their audience simply cannot afford the vast majority of the tech they review or show off. If I was an influencer, it would be for those of us who aren't considered in the vast majority of these videos. While I would NEVER in a million years say that ANYONE on a low budget should EVER buy an Apple product, I do appreciate Ken's attempts here!

As a dual monitor guy I can't imagine trying to use a laptop screen so far away 75 percent of the time. Just got an OLED monitor for $800 which is the most I have ever spent on something for my setup but I love how good it looks. As for saving desk space putting the monitor on a good swivel arm solves the issue.

This desk setup feels like utter chaos with all the trinkets and gadgets, while working on only a 14" display at 3-4" feet away from your eyesight seems excruciating! No screen real-estate also would drive me nuts for work, multi tasking, or gaming needs. To each their own i guess. Yikes. But i still enjoy your content and production value! cheers

Got rid of the big screen but added a bunch of little knick knacks on your desk seems anti-simplifying. I guess it's content for future if/when you add external monitors again.

Editing on a MacBook is super common. They come with Good processors and have very color accurate displays. Its the one Situation where apple is the best bang for the buck option.

I would be a little concerned by the distance eyes/14" screen.

Yeah, blud is definitely not using the vision pro for more than 6 months. It just seems to uncomfortable having to have that huge, bulky, heavy thing on your head for more than an hour or two when you're working. No way you're using this long term.

I’m sorry but this makes no sense unless it was only an excuse to try and justify the AVP. Not only is it more cluttered but you have a small 14” screen sitting way too far back. At least get a 16”. I’m all for simplifying but this isn’t simpler in any sense of the word.

so leading in with "going minimalist" but then later showing the vision pro is the equivalent to "cleaning your room" by just shoving everything under your bed. why not just own the fact that you swopped out a 42" tv with a virtual screen that's a big screen for your mac, plus even more screens. so there's even more clutter, it's just accessed via the vision pro instead of a tv
