Smoky and the Miracles really brought it to the Apollo! A lot of record sales, not just from the audience but word of mouth, if you can crush it on that stage. Pressure's on because there were other acts on the bill trying to do the exact same thing.

This is my favorite out of every Miracles performance I've seen, Smokey put all of his heart and all of his soul into this, I'm not used to seeing him this animated but I love it! The way he went into Bring It On Home to me and switched back was perfect 🎶💖 just wow

Jamerson was the road bassist for Miracles until 1964 when Motown realised he was too valuable and kept him in the studio with a few exceptions for the remainder of his career with Motown.

Good Lord, I've never seen this! What a powerful performance....just blown away! The choreography is restrained, but evocative, and such lovely well-tailored clothing. A treat to the ears and eyes. Excellent musicians, vocal arrangements and powerful vocals by Smokey. No vulgar twerking, oh the good days when people had class.

It is amazing what this man put into this performance - the definitive one of "You Really Got A Hold On Me" i might add, which, besides his Sam Cooke-Lou Rawls inspired duet with fellow Miracle Bobby Rogers includes the actual song which inspired it ("Bring It On Home To Me") and some nice choreography on the part of The Miracles!

Pete was in the Army at the time. He didn't return back to The Miracles until early 1964.

@@NathanAHogan Wow! So, Claudette kinda sorta was filling in although she’s technically a member! And if I remember, she stopped performing in ‘64-‘65 when Pete must’ve reunited with the group.

@@horizontoday7874 She was a full member until several miscarriages forced her to retire in 1964. From then on, it was just Smokey, Ronnie, Bobby and Pete until Smokey left to go solo in 1972. Marv Tarplin went on with Smokey in 72.

I've always heard that the patrons at the Apollo were very demanding. If you did not perform to their expectations, you were booed off of the stage. The Miracles certainly gave them more than their money's worth.

Smokey sounded hoarse, but I actually liked his voice cracking. Strange, but to me it adds a soulful flavor.
