It's okay to do some mixing during the production phase so it doesn't sound really bad during it. Just don't "complete" the entire mix just yet.
Thanks for talking to me like i’m stupid, it actually helps.
It's actually insane how informative and well thought out these videos are. Every single one I learn something new or see something in a way I hadn't before. Subscribed

My favorite part of mixing nightmares its when the host Gordon Ramsey says “ok so check it” and then when he says “finally, some good fucking music”
please postpone YSAP until you're a few episodes into YSAM. i speak for myself and a lot of producers when i say we direly need these tutorials.
Been struggling with the unknowns of mixing that nobody seems to cover, like the stuff at the very start. You're the goat man
Great idea to do videos on mixing my man! This’ll be very helpful to people. Keep up the good work, appreciate ya.
If anyone's having problems regarding track length when importing all your rendered tracks, be sure to disable autowarp long samples in preferences.

Hey underbelly! Question for ya - how do you keep the audio track's arrangement and when they start playing in the exported individual tracks? When I try to export it, the tracks do not line up with how they were in the original ableton file. Thanks!

Love your videos man, keep it up :)
I knew where you were going when you normalized the bounce down but when you said "Do it better the second time ya dingus ok?" I lost it.
Normalizing your tracks may not be so cool for quiet or subtle elements. You're fishing around at the bottom of your faders, which aren't very accurate. To each his own. Every technique has pros and cons.
@THEdavidschockett

Great point here! Is there any tangible difference between (a) normalizing a particular track and (b) just adding a gain utility to it later? It seems like it's safer to NOT normalize, and then just add gain to individual tracks as needed if they're too soft. Am I missing something?

A whole new seriees about mixing an asstrack? wow u amazing belly :D
Very useful tutorial. Thank you :)
i love this
thank you so much for teaching and entertaining. Probs
It's not only helpful, but also hilarious, I laughed every maybe 3 seconds.
How much EQ work would you recommend before this? I've always just done stuff without exporting each stem before mix down but now would be trying this way out.
Hi got a question. always have lots of reverb return tracks coming from drums from early on in track creation. should I get rid of those too before mixing??
I'm not sure if I should die of laughter or die of sadness when I watch these videos
new series? yurrrrp! let’s get it started in here, let’s get it started in ahh
Beast! Thanks Cap!
Aye Underbelly, regarding the extracting of drums elements from the drum racks, how do you keep the drum choking effects then? if you're using drum choking, then should you keep the drum rack and mix it as is?
This is good!
Good shit underbelly

Hi, whats's up! Underbelly, thank you so much for these Tutorials, they are very helpful and especially fun. I would like to ask a question to you and to everyone else if you'v got some advice! How do you handle layers when coming to the Mixdown stage? I am referring to those instruments which might be composed by different layers, as it could be a bass sound for example (separated into Low/Mids/High)... do you bounce the 3 different layers into a single track and mix the resulting bass sound with the other instrument or do you keep the layers separated and bounce them to 3 different tracks in order to mix them more properly afterwards. Thank for the help. Wish everyone a good time!
Thanks for the tip with extract chains on the drum rack, that will save me a shitload of time for my next shit song!
When i create hte new project, the files that i drop are extremely fast, what should I do to remedy this?
hey when i import stems should they be all of same length?
This is helpful, thx. Just two questions though. 1. Isn't normalising affecting the dynamics? I have tracks where I play soft harmonics with my guitar. Normalisation feels wrong for these sounds. Thoughts? 2. I noticed you had hi-hats, snares and individual drum hits exported as stereo. Surely these would be better off as mono?
Thank you!
Is it better for the audio quality to export everything into individual stems? I just freeze and flatten my tracks. That basically works the same correct?
I love your smile before intro
My man teaching us how to mix while roasting us every other minute but couldn't be bothered to edit out the loud sound he makes with each breath he takes
Does anybody know why when I drag and drop all my individual tracks into a new set all the tracks are out of order and sound like a big jumble of sound? Also when I set the tempo to the original tracks tempo, not all the tracks fit it.
Hey Dingus.. Can you help me please ? I wanna bounce all my tracks to audio. I did exactly what you did but i can't move all the files in Ableton. I have a desktop and it doesn't work. Ableton just cant read the files and see them. What i'm i missing ??
"now i dont really wear hats but i might have to because my bald spot is growing" HAHAHA. Why haven't i found this channel before. Informative yet comedy gold
Hey bros. What about return tracks? Should they be included in stems or should they be disabled like something that be better done once again during mixing phase? Cheers
this is amazing
i dont get the part which you take all sounds into individual channels... what about the automations? they arent rendered? (im using FL studio so i guess it works diffreently?)
im new to this and curious what software you're using and reccomend for people relatively inexperienced.
Awesome vid!
thank you shoenice of music production
Should I export the vocals and normalize them, or should I record vocals once the instrumentals are all mixed and mastered?
Wowsers! Good stuff! But I suck so much at mixing, that I actually forgot to turn the auto warp option off before importing the audio files. So everything was just messed up. It took me a while to deal with that. Just like you after you're parents broke up! :) I'm such a Dingus...

Can you just freeze/flatten each individual track for mixdown?
I tried exporting the tracks twice now and both times it isn't exporting the entire length of the song (just a short snippet of each track). I'm selecting all before going to the export menu, so not sure why it won't export the entire song?
do more of these please
Impresionante.
