I loved how you explained the olden days without Internet. Therefore magazine and interviews were real important for getting inside information.

They really were. Here in the UK it was the only way I found out what was going on with TV and books. There was a little on the radio for TV, but nothing for books. There were no podcasts, so I relied in magazines. It was the primary source of info, when a journalist spoke to a popular author in the SFF space.

First played DnD in 1982 with TSR. The Dragon Lance Chronicles were fabulous both for table top and the novels - who can forget the Test of the Twins? I wrote many of my own fantasy stories as a youngster due to these. I still have the novels and the cartoon film. It was also put out as a radio chronicle at some point though I've never found it. Raistlin - I miss you! Everything you have said is true!!

Right!!! They deserve more acclaim and awareness in the fantasy genre outside those who play DnD because there are many fans who don't play DnD and so may not be aware of this pair of fantastic writers

Raistlin was one of my favourite characters as a kid. classic anti-hero. I also loved Terry Brooks and David Eddings. The Shannara Books (now 34 of them) were a staple of mine. the Belgariad had some awesome larger than life characters like Silk, Barak and Mandorallan. It was a happy time. Another great video Mr Aryan and a wonderful trip down nostalgia lane , thank you.

Death Gate Cycle was a great series that is slow building but snowballs quickly ...it took me 3 years to read the first book...I just had a hard time wrapping my head around it... took another year for book 2...almost gave up...the next 4 books I read in a span of 4 months...and it was amazing. sometimes I have a hard time focusing because of ADHD...but when my brain finally latches on... it's like a superpower... I read the chronicles, all 3 books in 1 day...

Death Gate looks fantastic. Thank you for bringing us along. The name 'DragonLance' has always rung in my ear as a thing to be respected, but I assumed it was an early video game or a long cancelled cartoon . Clearly a lot of passion from those two writers, (and whoever illustrated! )

Dragonlance kicked off a huge world essentially that fed into D and D, but at the time, I had no clue. I just had some amazing books full of colourful characters going on an adventure. The Death Gate Cycle is fantastic.

Fantastic video. I'd completely forgotten about Rose of the Prophet. I know I read those back in the day, but don't know that I could tell you the plot now. Another one that really stuck with me was the Star of the Guardians series by Margaret Weis. I particularly remember this one since I'd always been more into fantasy than Sci Fi, but it really resonated with me. I'm actually curious to know what I'd think of it almost 30 years later.

Thank you for stating the obvious. Dragonlance is a world that is either loved or hated but i always loved it. I own every novel and the new trilogy is great as well. The 3rd book comes out in August 2024 and i highly recommend them. Side note. Margaret is a great person in general. Always great to the fans and if you ever get the chance to meet her i highly recommend doing so. She (and I hope Tracy as well) will be at GenCon 2024 in Indianapolis for the release of the last novel in the trilogy. Side note 2. I also thought Tracy was a woman for years and i didn't get into Dragonlance until the 90's 😂

I will get to the new DragonLance books eventually. At some point! My TBR is always quite huge. Sadly, GenCon and a trip to America is a bit too expensive, but I have been hearing good things about GenCon for years!
