I noticed in analytics a good chunk of people like to watch using subtitles, so I took some time today to figure out how to properly create subtitles which are fully accurate rather than relying on auto captions. Hope this helps those who like captions, and moving forward videos will have proper captions uploaded by default at release.

Nope, just self taught over a few years, both with general research (primarily content by other creators here on KZread covering basics of lighting, camera, and audio) and just playing with stuff over time to figure out what works and what doesn't.

I can't believe your channel isn't bigger, the production value, editing, and humor here is absolutely incredible! Keep up the amazing work! Also I absolutely agree that everyone should mod their 3ds. Even if you're not into emulation or 🏴‍☠️ having access to features like custom menu themes, the ability to back up your save games, being able to dump your physical carts to your SD card, and having a robust library of homebrew software at your fingertips makes it worth it alone. But I personally use it mainly for the emulation. With my 100% legally obtained roms that I definitely dumped myself and didn't download from a convenient rom distribution website, of course.

I already have been blessed by the algo so far, I was at 193 subs when I uploaded this a little over a week ago, and this is the first video that's seen anything close to this amount of views. I just hope I can keep this train moving along with future uploads. Honestly, when I uploaded I was hoping I would be able to get to 200 subs after maybe a few weeks, so I'm very pleasantly surprised with how the algo picked this one up.

I got my first 3DS ('New' 3DS XL) around five years ago and modded it immediately (the process too nearly an hour back then, as there were many steps), as my main reason for buying was to install Vice3DS so I had a handheld Commodore 64. The dual-screen form-factor works so well for that, with the C64 screen on top, and a virtual keyboard and other controls always available on the lower screen. I later bought a Galaxy 'New' 3DS XL as you have in your video. Rare to see in the UK, as it was only available in the US I believe. Naturally I modded that so I could use my UK games in it. I was surprised how the process had been speeded up by then! I started exploring the 3DS game lineup soon after getting my first device and now have 101 physical games, a fair few legitimate purchases from the eShop, and around 50 physical DS games. I have dumped all of the carts to the micro-SD card for convenience, along with a load of less-legitimately obtained roms. I do keep an eye on the local used game store (and eBay of course) to try and get a proper copy of the games I downloaded, but the supply of 3DS games has really dried up since I first started collecting, and what there is can be highly-priced. Other than the C64 other emulators I have installed are uae3DS (Amiga), Vex3DS (a Vectrex emulator!), and Picodrive for the Sega Megadrive. I haven't really tested these much, so I can't comment on their quality. I tried RetroArch and DaedalusX64 and found both too painful to persist with. As far as other homebrew goes I tried Thirdtube but it fails to play a lot of videos. Anemone is nice for themes. FTPD is useful for transferring stuff to the micro-SD card without having to keep unscrewing the back of the 3DS and transferring the card to my laptop. Twilight Menu++ of course for running DS games from micro-SD, although I also have an R4 card. Also the hShop app so I have access to PictoChat.... yes, definitely just for that. I never really expected to love this little handheld as much as I do, and certainly never thought I'd have built such a decent physical game collection for it! Nice video by the way! Liked the humour.

Thanks! I started modding my 3DS in 2015, and shortly after that Arm9LoaderHax came out as the best (at the time) mod to do. That took around 2 hours due to the amount of time it took to downgrade the system to a very low firmware version, not to mention on the n3ds system if you accidentally put it to sleep during the process you became the proud owner of a brick. Luckily nowadays it's pretty fast and easy. The latest update that came out after this video puts a slight wrench into things, but not much and the community is fixing stuff to keep everything going.

Probably l doesn't help that up till recently I didn't upload very often, and this video was the first one to carve out a slightly new style for my videos

I originally had an Ambassador Teal 3DS, then upgraded to the New 3DS XL. Without knowing any better, I transferred the old to the new. Now looking at the ebay market for ambassador consoles I realize I've made a huge mistake. Does anyone have experience transferring it back before modding the XL?

In theory you should just be able to transfer back in the same way you transferred to the XL, then from there I would probably factory reset the XL before modding it to clear your account from it, just in case. Though I'm unsure if anything about that process has changed since the eShop closure.

You are completely correct. I forgot about that quirk. I'm pretty sure there is a way that you could likely do it with homebrew tools, but I'm not certain at the moment of the exact process. I would need to do some research to see what the process is.

Underrated KZreadr! I’ve just recently hacked my old 2ds right before going out of state the other day and it kept me entertained for a while. It’s so fun to mess around on my 2ds with the countless of things I could do with it. Might mod my main N3DSXL in the future. Just dropped a sub and like.

I was able to hop into the scene in late 2015. Like most scenes, i usually hop in and out as my interest cycles through various systems, but in general if a system can be modded I'm generally one to do so.

i know this 7 months later but that sub button and like button is lonely up there this is quality content great editing and all this deserves way more then 883 subs keep it up.

Honestly, because before the past two videos I've never been consistent with uploads. It's why I had to take time to figure out multiple different factors to help greatly improve the speed of the process. Along with that I've moved to my own place so I don't have to work around other people's schedules. Here's hoping as I push forward now with much more regular uploads, the algo will pick up my content a bit more.

Hacked my 3ds couple weeks ago, been enjoying it ever since. However I was on the mii plaza and there some of those mini games that were free to download and I was like why not? So I was in the process of downloading it and right before it finished my game crashed and an error popped up “Arms 11” I think that’s what it said ? I don’t remember but I turned off my 3ds and powered it back on and everything seemed normal? At least I hope so. Does anybody have a clue as to what this was?

sounds like the luma 3ds crash screen. When running custom firmware (running a hacked 3ds) when the device crashes, a custom crash screen is shown which gives more info about this crash that is useful mostly for devs. Should be perfectly fine, just happens sometimes.

I recently modded my 3DS but i need more storage to download games. Can i just swap out the mini card and insert another with higher storage without losing any game saved progress?

You would want to first format the larger card as fat32. If using windows, you'll want to download guiformat and use that as windows doesn't give fat32 as an option on larger cards. Then you'll want to copy all files and folders from your original SD to the new SD, making sure you turn the 3ds off before ejecting the old SD. Once all your files and folders are copied from the old SD to the new, you can just insert the new SD and power on your 3ds. Everything should be intact. I would also use checkpoint homebrew before starting this process to back up any important saves just in case

Currently only way to mod the Switch is using an older model that works with the "paperclip trick", or to hardmod. The security on the Switch is otherwise much stronger. It is possible that someone in the scene is sitting on something for later on when the switch is closer to death, but as of right now the general consensus is we won't get exploits that are at the same level of what we have on 3DS. Here's hoping though.

I've been experiencing input issues and feel I need to a factory reset the console before I open it up. Would doing so require me to jailbreak it again? It feels more like something that requires a reset button rather than a physical dpad issue

No. You should be running boot9strap, which is persistent coldboot exploit. Unless you spicing specifically go out of your way to uninstall, you should be able to factory reset. The only thing you'll lose is save data, which you can use jksm or checkpoint to back those up.

Do you mean the installed games and the homebrew icon on the home menu? Those don't persist after a system restore. If you mean the actual Cia files you used to install those games, AFAIK the SD card isn't wiped during system restore. I'm not gonna atm but once I get back to my computer I'll grab links for how to get the homebrew launcher and fbi reinstalled

This video was somewhat of a tester for both a modified style as well as using a different video editor. Main problem was videos frequently died in the editing stage due to just taking too long. New way of doing things has prevented this issue, so uploads will start to be much more frequent moving forward. Thanks for the feedback!

Gonna need more info.What exactly is the process of what you are doing before you see communication error. What are you using to launch the game (Is it directly on your home menu, or are you using something like TwilightMenu++ to launch it)?

I am able to find some details about this issue. Based on your reply, it seems you are using a forwarder. I'll look into this later today when I get home from work, but for now my recommendation would be to try setting up TwilightMenu++ to launch your games instead of using a forwarder to launch them straight from the home menu, since I have tested that and it works on my end.

Looked into it during a work break. Looks like atm everything that was used software-side was patched. Only exploits known to work atm are ntrboot (which requires a DS flashcart) or hardmod.

In theory no. If they are tied to the same account, they do have the ability to account ban, which would affect the whole account. However, I can't recall any time since the 3DS scene picked up years ago that an account ban happened. At worst we've seen a console ban, which means that specific 3DS will no longer be able to connect to Nintendo servers, but it won't affect the account or other devices. That doesn't mean they can't/won't, so if you want to play it safe it may be optimal to remove your current account and attach a different account instead.

Best option would be something local like a ma and pop shop or Facebook marketplace. You'll probably need to search a bit to find a real good deal, but in local will let you be able to see the condition in person before finalizing the purchase

Thanks! I've tried to really dial in several things to dial in the quality of the audio and video, and have over time gotten better with scripting and being on camera. Though I am going to keep looking into what I can do to improve and enhance my content in all aspects, so if you or anyone ever has suggestions definitely throw it in the comments!

READ THIS: Do not download games from hShop or any app like that. I've been searching about and that apps ruin your 3ds if you use them very often. The thing here is you need to install your games by PC. Games installed by QR aslo ruins your console. Using hShop or any app page ok, just don't install games directly by your console like it is Nintendo's eShop, your are forcing your 3DS. Look for YT tutorials of how to download games from PC and SD memories. FBI aswell, doing that it's OK. I mean... piracy is ilegal, but if you want to, nobody is stoping you, free soul. Just that, if I'm wrong, my comment needs more info or the video already warned all of this lol, feel free to reply about.

I've looked into it, but can't find anything that shows hShop breaks anything. The only possibility I can think of is hShop causing a system ban, but it is just as likely to get banned using hShop as using FBI to install content. In the past, apps like freeShop were more likely to cause a ban due to downloading titles straight from eShop official servers, but hShop uses it's own servers that's not an issue. Would you be able to send me a link or two of what you've seen saying it can break your 3DS so I can look into this further?
