A month ago, I had to RMA my Steam Deck due to audio issues. I was 2 months outside the warranty period, so I was kind of hesitant to contact them as money is tight right now, but I figured maybe try and see what they say. Valve replaced my Deck with a brand new unit for free! All I had to do was send in my old one. Even better, the new unit they sent me is the revised version! It has the black heat shield inside, along with better button haptics, and the better/quieter fan. Their customer service quality can’t be beat! :D

Yes really frankly I think 12 months is way too small for warranties. You're talking about electronic devices that cost 500 bucks or more sometimes.. I know a lot of countries like Australia and possibly in Europe require at least two full years. The fact that people buy s*** and they break 15 months afterwards and they have no recourse. Thankfully the steam deck is a nice outlier in that repairs and upgrades are relatively easy m
It is worth it, if you use it a lot. Don’t buy it if you just use it a few times per month. As a local semi truck driver, some of these places take 2-3 hrs to unload our trailers. So I use it a lot. It’s also good to pass the time.

Trying to decide between this and the ally. Steam deck seems like it has a better interface but I’m also wanting to play my Xbox games portable on it so it seems like the ally might have a better set up for that. Thoughts?
I was sold on pc handheld that’s not windows based. And to be honest this thing pushes the boundaries of what I thought it would be capable of. I’m playing Tekken 7 & 8 for hours with an external battery. Not some dummy version made for a handheld device, the real deal. I kept my lcd version just for emulation purposes when I got the upgrade. I bought my brother one because it is just that amazing. If you are PC savvy it can almost do anything. I hope Steam develops a phone to really nail down how great this thing could be with true portable chat and WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity. Game changing would be an understatement!
Hello. I have a question about the battery lifespan,Do you need to charge the battery pack every few years or not at all. Also can you upgrade the (Steam Deck) with higher graphic card,Because some games in (Steam) required it.??? Please reply as soon as possible thank you.

I got my Steam Deck OLED this week, is the Battery still good after so many hours? Can I get a powerbank and use it with the Steam Deck? Is that a good idea or will the Battery suffer from charging and gaming at the same time many times?
@smidlee7747
Ай бұрын
You can charge it and play the deck at the same time. It is design to limit the total wattage so the more wattage the deck is using to run the game the less will go charging the battery. Playing demanding games will take much longer to charge the battery. You want to get a power bank that at least put out 45watts. I'm using Baseus 65w for the Deck , phones, Switch ,etc.

Seconding the other use, yes. No issues using a power bank. You can use Powertools to limit max charge level on the deck and run the deck off the power bank. I have a baseus blade 100w battery bank and I can run the deck exclusively off of it and it runs for ever.

So I figured Id go for a preowned lcd Deck that was according to seller "very sparingly used" and in "supernice condition". Its the 256GB variation. Pictures looked fine. Some sweat residue on joysticks and parts of plastic where hand palms rest but no scratches. Seller had over thousand sales and 100% positive feedback. How are Steam Decks preowned, anyway? Im basically losing the warranty safety net in exchange for a lower price. Are they sturdy and can handle several owners? Is there something I should specifically ask seller before buying such as (for example): is it aduIt owned, has it been refurbished etc. Are they worth taking a gamble on? It went for 250 dollars, is that reasonable? Whats the red line for how much you should pay for one as used? Thanks in advance!

@V1CT1MIZED

I had both, but I sold the Ally because the battery is so bad that you end up being plugged in all the time. You need to be plugged in or at 20W+ to get better than deck performance. I might as well just go on my PC if I'm going to be plugged in. Plus, it was only a matter of time before the SD card slot died. ASUS has recently dodged questions from The Verge about the SD card slot, which is worrying. A broken SD card slot kills the resale value.
@MBTCxGrouP

@@V1CT1MIZED I have both and I play almost every game on the Ally at 15W. With that the batterylife is almost the same. If there is a game that needs the power I have to sacrifice the batterylife, but can play the game. The SD on the other hand starts to struggle. That’s the point why I’m selling the SD and keep the Ally. I mean if I’m on the plane or train I take my powerbank with me and just play for 4 -5 hours with 15W and 3 hours with 25W 🤷♂️

The Steam deck has been able to fill in an absurdly giant hole that the 3DS left in my heart, I had been primarily a handheld gamer for almost all of my life yet I made the transition to PC when I couldn’t keep up with the Switch when it launched, and even after getting one second hand, I simply couldn’t get into it as much as I loved playing Kirby Forgotten Land or Pikmin 4. But now I simply can’t get away from my Steam Deck, it’s everything I wanted and more.
Genuine Question I completely understand the point that paying for online can be a sore spot, but does the benefit of having a library of games that are included not make this point moot? I really do see that there are significant benefits to PC gaming over console, but this one doesn’t seem to fit.
