The old game also had the problem of "Lowest G-Power total wins" cards that made the earlier released Bakugan just as strong without needing to use any support. In addition to the several Copper Gate Cards released over time with this effect, there was a Gold Gate Card released during Season 1 (Crushing Blow) that not only had this effect, but also disabled Ability Cards from being played. Since sets were never rotated, it was possible to build an entire deck around this strategy and there was little to no counterplay other than hoping your opponent couldn't roll. That made it so there was little reason to buy the new product if the same old strategy still worked fine.

Shh, you can't just post the forbidden knowledge like that. Hopefully they won't introduce any similar game-breaking mechanics in Battle Planet, but that tends to happen with long running TCGs. They can always ban problematic cards from official play, though.

Yeah that was my strat too! I had this subterra g power switching elfin in which I could set the dile to whatever I wanted and it would usually land on that g power. I meant I could use it for both high and low g power combos. I would also occasionally use my preyas 2 or translucent b2 preyas for that. Coupled with a 890 and a 1000 g powered bakugan, my deck was amazing. Until I missed all of my roles and landed on the wrong cards...

My strat was to go for 1 Bakugan with naturally high G-Power to win using mainly the gate, 1 Bakugan that would be souped up using ability cards, and 1 that went for lowest G-Power.

Bakugan is Fun for me because of the Little Plastic Balls that spring into monsters that do battle and it's now finally a fully fledged TCG which is what I wanted when I first got into Bakugan around Gundalian Invaders... Thankfully Spin Master took the time (And got a Pro Circuit MTG player to help) to make the game the best it could be... I'm gonna be making a video on my thoughts and feelings about the game so hopefully when I finish that you'll check it out.

I remember when I saw a Bakugan for the first time. A friend of mine had brought this curious little white and gold marble onto the bus one day and was showing it to me. When I saw it latch onto the metal surface and pop open into this little dragon-like creature, I was blown away and just had to have it for myself. That was my first Bakugan, a Haos Dragonoid with 400 GP. And when I learned that there was a card game involved with the toys, I dedicated most of my time to learning how to play and building up an arsenal with the rest of my friends, who got into it the same way I did. That was our pastime in middle school, and I remember the game fondly, despite its many shortcomings. I never went to any tournaments or any kind of conventions, but I was one of the best brawlers in my school, me and my stereotypical Dan Kuso team, since I was a sucker for Pyrus. When it finally died, I was a little heartbroken. I wanted to keep playing, because I loved those little creatures. I loved the feeling of controlling the battle with skill and precision. And when I heard that Spin Master was gearing up for an all new line of Bakugan...I knew I had to get involved. And I want to get more involved than I did in the past and get more people to play a game that I enjoy so much. Bakugan has come a long way, and I think a little hiatus is what Spin Master needed to get the game back up on its feet. The new game keeps the same old excitement while seeming more like an actual TCG, and I love that. But if I'm being honest, even if the game sucked, I would probably still play it. Because in the end, it all leads back to the day I met that Haos Dragonoid, and why I became a brawler in the first place.

I had no idea Bakugan lore went so deep. All jokes aside, this is a very valid argument. It's just saying "It's a fun game" over and over, there is history, there is info about toy lines as years progress. This has been done very well. I'm definitely watching more videos from you. I want to get into it however I don't have too much money at the moment. After college and a job is settled, this will be a hobby.

I really don't like the new show and the new Bakugan designs, so it kind of steered me away from the actual game. I love the classic game and the classic show. But you're right. The classic game definitely has problems that the new one improves on. And I'm really glad that's the case. I still don't like the way these Bakugan look, especially compared to the originals from 7 to 10 years ago, and I think the concept of Gate Cards was still pretty cool and looks more appealing, though I agree that the new Cores look much more strategic and fun in a game that demands strategy, which is good. I like Battle Gear, but anything past that is too much and I think it was smart of them to get rid of all that unnecessary stuff. And I personally don't mind the added tedium of having to manually open some parts of Bakugan, but if you're not allowed to actually open them in a real game, then I'm glad the new Bakugan made every opening part automatic. I'm getting off track. Point is, I love the old Bakugan and see a few gaping flaws with the new stuff, but I'm willing to give it the same chance I gave the original.

When I was 9 or something, Bakugan: New Vestroia(the series I was introduced to the game with) came out. On my birthday, my Grandma bought me a case of old Bakugan from a garage sale. The very first one I opened was a B2 Darkus Dragonoid. Coincidentally, he is my longest-lasting Bakugan to this day. I'm 19 years old now and I have a coffee tin of legacy Bakugan, and a small box full of New Line Bakugan. This game and series has always meant so much to me, and I am baffled to see how it's evolved. I remember when all the other kids at school played the game with me. I won and lost many. I never played my Drago, so I would never lose him in an HSP battle. He currently sits on display beside my monitor on my desk. My Grandma has since passed on, but she will live on in all the memories she sparked by giving me just one little Dragonoid.

But you could only have one bronze card per deck good luck getting 2 more gate cards. Not to mention most decks would run a 250 b1 because how common that effect was or a 500 - 650 if they were going to trick the opponent into thinking it was their character card so the opponent doesn’t use their 250 on your lowest G-power wins/power swap card and instead you force a useful bakugan to the used pile.

I didn’t know Bakugan had even come back until a few days ago. I was a toy shop and saw that there were multiple singles, starter packs and battle arenas being sold. Needless to say, I was shocked and overjoyed all at once! Bakugan was one of my favourite things growing up (I’m 16 now) and to see it back again after so long was brilliant for me

The original bakugan game is more than support pieces you can win brawls and tournaments even with just using season 1 bakugan! That's what I do, I play with my season ones and get the game for sure just to make people believe they also can do it without some robots.

One thing too I feel is that the anime stopped being about the actual game after the first series. I’d like to see a bakugan anime that stays true to the game kind of like how bakutech does.

I know this is a bit late but I'm back home from uni for the summer and my little sister has the new bakugan, and one thing I love about the new game is that which bakugan you use has a direct effect on which gate cards (Are they still called that?) When I played with her at first one of the bakugan I used was aquos hydorous, and my first impression was, "Wow, this is absolutely useless. It's a 200 power bakugan when every other one we're playing with is at least 500!". In the old game there would be no reason to use it, but now you have to consider which bakugan you're going to use not just on raw power but also how they directly change the field just from being used

I think one of the problem is it's very hard to build a full deck for a casual player. Bakugan packs do not contain a lot of cards, and packs of cards are not found in ordinary stores. So it's hard to build an entire deck, even inconsistent, without having to buy a bunch of unwanted bakugan packs

There is another thing that gets me excited about Bakugan right now(just in case, I am 14 years old, I watched old Bakugan when I was 6-11 years old). Because I live in Russia, every toy or item that is related to Bakugan, Sonic, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Power Rangers is almost a treasure to me. When I will buy my first Bakutech, I think this is going to be my greatest treasure. Also I am currently a bit s ad that Bakugan BO haven't released in my country yet. Because new Bakugan BP game is really good. Your video about rolling techniques showed hole potential of Bakugan BP game.(Thank you for that). But I can wait(the second quarter of the year isn going to start very soon) The problem that I actually scared about is how much Bakugan will be accepted in Russia. I can't say for sure why I am scared, but it seems that Brawl Stars could be much successfull in Russia that Bakugan will ever be. Basically, I'm sure that no one from my surroundings will be interested in new Bakugan at all.

So, I'm a Yu-Gi-Oh! Player through and through. When my mate was talking about this new Tcg (Bakugan) I was like, yeah alright I'll give it a shot when it comes to Aus. Spent my $70+ dollar's on a deck and some boosters. First time I actually got to play, I was hooked. It has the best parts of so many current TCGs and it's own charm with the Bakugan it's self. At our locals for Yu-Gi-Oh I actually stop playing for a month. Just so I could play Bakuagn. Th3 game has such potential and I really hope it doesn't die before it gets started. It has something that current TCGs don't have and that is simply it's fun.

I was actually trying to avoid saying that, because I don't think it's accurate in reality... Unpredictability is present in every card game, but the rolling in Bakugan is quite the opposite. It's ONLY limited by your skill, practice, and patience.

Cool video, Jett I have to disagree with you on your stance on the Battlegear and Traps. I think they had strategic potential but SM lacked insight in developing mechanics. What I would do instead was this for a Bakugan TCG [I am still fleshing out the mechanics]. Keep the double/triple/consecutive/fusion ability system but have a new rule that goes as follows. For every single ability played in each round, allocate +2 to stack allocation from 3-1=2. Then for the second round if a player played for example 2 abilities they get +1 for that round with +2 from the first to yield, thus the stack allocation would be +3. Then for +X lets say for example 5, they can either activate quadruple abilities OR activate the battlegear. As for traps go, they need to be activated in a specific turn lets say for example in a specific turn in a turn queue. Thus from a mathematical standpoint, this would force the player to strategically think about whether or not they want to activate a quadruple ability in that round or activate their BG [Battlegear]. Similar line of reasoning could be used for Mechtogan. Further, I think the standard 40 card deck makes the game WAY too simple, I do not know what culture you grew up in but in mine something like that is fairly abusable.

  • @JettKuso

    @JettKuso

    5 жыл бұрын

Oh no don't get my wrong, I think they COULD be made to work, and I think they're really cool as toys. I just think the focus should be on a solid TCG with enough complexity and simplicity that anyone can enjoy it, rather than gimmicks and power-creep. It's really easy for a game like this to become bloated and suffocated by add-ons, rather than a focus on improving the core mechanics. In the same vein, I think things like Maximus Dragonoid and Deka Bakugan are really fun, since they aren't game pieces. The fun merging of toyline and game is a part of it that can't be ignored. But the TCG business model may be way better for the long-term (MTG has been around for 22 years after all). You have to admit a streamlined TCG direction has a way better possibility of grabbing new hardcore competitive players.

@@JettKuso Nice reply, yeah I was thinking the same thing. Personally if I had to play a game I don't like situations where I have a surefire way of winning everytime nor games that are too "hard" either. I think SM's challenge further down the road is balancing that complexity factor, imho a game thats a tad bit too hard is better than a game thats a tad bit too easy. I also agree that they could have focused on core mechanics and added bit more stuff to the game i.e take core mechanics and build on top of them.
