You Should Be Building These... My Planter Arsenal.
In this video I go over the 4 wood planters i have created on this channel. These woodworking projects sell great in the spring, summer, and fall time. They are all made with cheap fence pickets and produce a high profit when selling these project. The best part is the demand for these is always through the roof! People love them.

Use a $25 pin nailer from harbor freight for a cleaner look (less noticeable holes), and use cedar fence pickets with Titebond III
I’ve sold probably 30 of your 2 picket planter boxes. By far the easiest planter on KZread. And he literally tells you the exact dimensions in the video. It’s doesn’t get any easier than that

Always enjoy the videos. I like to lay out my top trim upside down and glue the corners and put about 3 staples in each corner. Makes it very easy to attach it to the planter all in one piece.

Damn! That is a phenomenal way to do it. Honestly getting the trim centered is the hardest part of this planter haha. This tip solves that with ease! I will be moving forward using your technique. So simple yet easily overlooked. Thanks so much for sharing that.

i just got hip to your channel and I like what you are doing.I wanna start making furniture of my own. To make a long story I was hoping you would consider making a video dedicated to the tools a newbie would need to make things- I don't have any tools that i see you have in your videos besides a couple drills i got from home depot. Well, thanks for the videos, they're pretty good and easy to follow so don't change your recipe and youll have one devoted sub in me.
These were all great 'walk-through-videos' Brother. I really like all of them. I'm looking forward to adding them to the arsenal of planter designs I currently make. Great inspiration whether you choose to make any of these exact designs or not.

Hey brother great videos! I'm curious though about the moisture content of the pickets. In my area you can not find dry pickets at all. They are usually sitting outside in the garden center SOAKING wet. Are you buying them dry or letting them dry indoors first? Being as wet as they come, I think they would warp pretty bad.
It is crazy how different prices are. $5.79 for that picket in Alaska. Still a reasonable build. I just get jealous when I see that. lol

Really appreciate your videos So much detail and free info Definitely going to get a few of your plans for the other planters. Thank you Where do you advertise the planters for sale please?
@BradyHommel
Ай бұрын
Awesome. Glad to hear that thank you for the comment! I always had the best luck on Facebook marketplace honestly. That is where I sold the majority of my planters and custom furniture. Then once you sell some word of mouth starts to work and people reach out to you saying "so and so told me about you"
One of my side hustles is selling plants. I propagate them, grow them to a high value size and pot them. Then I have a couple big plant sales every spring. It would be a perfect opportunity to sell some planters to increase my profits. One thing I would do that you don't is make them from cedar pickets instead of pressure treated. Cedar fence pickets cost about $4.50 each if I buy a pallet of 560. Anything made of cedar sells for 25% more than the same item made of PT.
@BradyHommel

Someone from my hometown actually opened up a store front doing what your doing! Yes Cedar is a great way to make a more quality planter definitely! The last one I made I was trying to find cedar pickets and after 2 lowes trips and a home depot trip I could only find PT. I was surprised. Also would not have to stain with cedar as it is beautiful as is.
@dropndeal
Ай бұрын
The cedar pickets from Lowe’s are typically warped, checked, and cupped. The Lowe’s here in coastal Alabama store them out in the garden area, whereas HD stores them inside with other lumber. I haven’t found where the cedar outsells PT planters, but it’s still a good strategy to offer them side by side.
@zone4garlicfarm
Ай бұрын
@@dropndeal Around here cedar is the most popular wood for most outdoor furniture from adirondack chairs to picnic tables. Also for trellises, window box planters and some styles of fences. I haven't looked closely at free standing planters to know if it's true for them. What I do know is people who prefer cedar will pay a premium for it.
@dropndeal
Ай бұрын
@@zone4garlicfarm Aside from a couple of heavy PT timber benches, I haven’t ventured into outdoor furniture, but agree cedar is favorable and offers timeless beauty. I also make window boxes and a variety of planters. Some are sold through consignment with local markets with a lot of pass-through traffic. I’ve experienced about 50/50 sales on PT vs Cedar and the occasional cypress (plenty of that in the Mobile delta region). In those cases, I’ll only offer one or the other so as not to compete with myself, plus inventory is simpler.

With the first planter, how long have you found they last with the PT pine? I only ever seem to see these made from cedar but can’t find the cedar pickets. Hoping to build these but worried about the PT. Thanks!

I have had trouble finding cedar as well. With the PT ones if you seal them good enough and reseal as needed they will last a very long time.
@bradyhommel Hi! I sent you a message on your site about some plans I just purchased. I was unable to read some of the numbers on the cutlist for the 3 - 2x4 nightstand build.

Yes! Reminiscing haha. I miss having a shop but that time will come again! Yes that tent is awesome!
How much are people getting for then 2 picket planter? I’d hate to only get $40 for a couple or few hours of work.
What hose do you use for your festool sander? Doesnt seem like one from a festool dust extractor. Plugged into shop vac?
@BradyHommel
Ай бұрын
It is the one that came with it. It is the cheapest festool dust extractor you can buy and it came with a gray hose when I bought it. I think the bigger more expensive ones come with green ones.
Standard wood glue, even Titebond III for outdoor use, won't hold well long term on treated lumber. You need to use a urethane glue like Gorilla Glue

The key is to use creativity. Take what you see and put an added touch on it to stand out from the rest. It could be as simple as just the way you finish it.
I swear you could not be more complicated . Your instructions are so all over the place. Maybe slow down and explain it slowly and not so all over the damn place . This is supposed to be for beginners? It’s obvious you do woodworking for a living . Maybe consider slowing down and try to remember that not everyone does this and , yes if I made a bunch of these especially the 2 nd one I would be able to slap them together easy as well but I gave up trying to follow you and write down notes. So annoying I didn’t even watch the assembly of second video much less the last 2.
