As a massive thanks for over 8 million views on Octo Expands, I present a musical tribute to Splatoon, and of course that heavenly melody.
Where I've been:
Naturally, after the success of Octo Expands, I started working on a sequel. It was going to be called Octo Expand Dong and would be a Smash Bros video, and I used a clip from the start of it for an April Fools video a while ago. Unfortunately, over 3 years ago now, I injured myself, and for various reasons this has impacted how often I animated, eventually leading to a standstill. University and work also took up a chunk of time. I'm hopeful to creating stuff properly one day, but for now I really hope that this whets any appetites. This song, after all, though I never finished it until recently, was to be set in the finale of Octo Expand Dong.

This most overambitious part was imagining I could arrange music at all. That was HARD
If there was a loop version of this, I would LOVE to use this for a fight in my DND campaign!
After 2 years of cooking, it was worth it.

@@lillypad1615Until 1:28 its calamari inkantation, after we can hear a little fly octo fly leitmotif before coming back into calamari inkantation 1:41 its ebb and flow leitmotif then 1:53 come back on it 2:07 we have the transition between fly octo fly and ebb and flow from oe 3:01 look like into the light leitmotif And 3:14 look like shark byte leitmotif but not sure I coudn't do a proprer analysis because of work but don t bother give a try ahah

Oh ok thanks! I was confused where you heard the spectrum obligato part since it’s a bit different than ebb and flow, but I see what you mean!
If there was a splatoon movie, no doubt this would be in it. Also, imagine this plays in the final fest. I get chills listening to this lol.

Welcome back! I clicked on this video having no idea that you were the same person that made Octo Expands, so you could imagine the shock when I realized lol. I was definitely not expecting this banger of a song! I could never piece together enough words to describe how amazing I think this piece of music is. This, to me, feels like the perfect tribute to the Splatoon series, and with Splatoon 3 nearing the end of its (major) update lifespan, I feel this was the perfect song to sort of Wave Goodbye to the previous games in the series, while also making way for a Fresh Start for what's to come. Thank you for making this, and thank you for making Octo Expands! I can't wait to see what else you have planned for the future! P.s. I love the background art showing in the video, (did you make it? it's awesome!) and how it shows every single agent, I'm glad Agent 4 is getting some love! Even if they are in the very back lol.

Nothing fancy. Most of this was done with the BBC Symphony Orchestra plugin and Shreddage, with default Reaper stuff for the rest
