What this tells me is that people in the Marvel Universe have terrible taste. 'The Scarlet Spider' is a cool name! How can they not see that?!

I personally prefer Ben as the Scarlet Spider, but mainly because I think it's distinct, love the hoodie look, and that a story of Ben's journey into reclaiming it - taking something about himself he's hated and been shackled with and spinning it into his own - would be incredibly cool. But I also 100% see your point about letting him be Spider-Man. Especially after all this Chasm shit.

It genuinely warms my heart to see somebody make an appreciation video about my favorite Spider-man. Spider-Man has been a part of my life since I was 2 years old, and is my actual hero (as corny as that may sound). Ben himself has always had a special place in my heart. Showed me as a kid that it doesn't take Peter Parker to be Spider-man. To be a hero. ❤

I would certainly be happy, but it would still feel like a regression for him as a character.

I can understand maybe the dismay of writing Ben Riley for some writers as from a bare bones view they only see a clone of Peter but as for Kane he is literally a more violent spiderman. How has not one writer been attracted to a character he can do almost anything with that is spiderman but will and very much can kill?

Because the superior Spider-Man already exists at the same time. So that makes Kaine feel less special, since the things that Otto does usually have a direct impact on Peter and his life. Kaine’s actions are isolated now, so for many writers there’s no appeal to him. Think about it, part of the reason that red hood is so popular is because of the emotional impact he has on Batman and his mission. He’s the son that Bruce always struggles the most to truly help and understand. That’s tragic because Bruce loves him. Peter viewed Ben like a brother, that’s why editorial probably turned him into chasm, because it should shake him up emotionally. Peter’s relationship with Kaine has always been more distant by comparison. So there’s less of a story hook to use Kaine these days. He’s coming back in the mark of Kaine one shot later this year though

@@Dhampir101980 I get that but I disagree in some aspects. 1. As far as I'm aware they made Otto give up being the superior spiderman in a crap story line (like just make someone else be doc ock) so Kane has an opening there if you seem them similar but (on to #2) 2. I don't think Kane and Superior spiderman were that similar. Kane was more violent and brutish in my eyes while having a unique personality from not having a regular family, life, and childhood in a sense (ben has Peter's memories to make up for that) leaving him more cold in emotional smarts. Otto is more cunning and is like a batman but spiderman as he prepares for everything and looks for maximum effectiveness and efficiency but where he falls from batman is in personality as he has a high self esteem and large ego he fuels through proving himself superior from others which leads to his downfall and lack of ability to improve in some scenarios but he can as well come off cold emotional smart wise but that's because he puts others beneath him (so I don't get the similarity point you made and to add Otto would not lobotmize carnage. He ain't gruesome like that but meticulous). 3. While I wish Kane would have some interactions with Peter I think his lack of connection to him makes it easier to write for him as you literally can do anything as it doesn't feel weird for him to not interact with Peter unlike silk, miles, and ben over long periods of time since they have a lot to offer and some were made off those connections. As for Kane you can make him his own thing (ben needs Peter for his best stories imo so) and let him go off doing his own stuff as a rouge spiderman. He has so much to develop as well character wise as the basis is there waiting to be molded into a final product. I always thought his character would fit as a less vicous punisher who has a bit of a rulebook and is not a loose cannon but won't hold himself to the same standards as others (wheather that's because of his ideas or lack of understanding of others). Either ways thanks for letting me yap about a character I need to see get some love.

@@lesliejacoby9137 I understand. Kaine’s scarlet spider solo series by Chris Yost was great. But I can also see why he isn’t used more often. I meant that he and superior Spider-Man both occupy the same “ gritty Spidey “ space, but I’ve read both series and know that there are differences between them. Kaine believes that he’s a bad guy, but ultimately still does good things. Otto wants people to believe that he’s a hero, while he ultimately does whatever suits his purposes. I was saying that since Otto’s time is more popular in the current fandom mindset, Kaine doesn’t really have a place. The fact that there’s a new superior Spider-Man ongoing book right now, and not one for Kaine speaks volumes.

I know its a bad idea to say this on here and specially after finishing the video but i always wanted a mini series with kaine, spider-cide and ben just having some adventures and getting to know (or getting discovering in the case of cide) each other and it could be called scarlet spiders

I remember watching the final episodes to the 90s Spider-Man cartoon and Ben appeared. I instantly feel I love with his design and he’s been one of my fav alt spidys since. Honestly I 100% agree with you. We already are fine with 2 Spider-Men at once. Just slap “sensational” on the comic run title and let us be happy…if not then just let him die in a send off story as spidey one last time…I wish the comic staff would realize that Ben isn’t tainted goods JUST cause of the clone saga. ALSO YA, wtf where’s my boy Kaine!?

One of, if not THE most irritating thing about the Scarlet Spider…was Ultimate Spider-man, both the show and comics. They literally just named Kaine “Ben Riley” just so they could make Ben fans happy, when it was just a slap in the face and don’t even get me started on how they did Kaine in this show. And don’t even get me started on the comics because they made Ben black (not racist, I’m black) who’s a scientist who creates the clones: Scorpion, Spider Women, Tarantula and…Kaine, who was basically just himself before his redemption arc, we don’t get to see ultimate comic Kaine’s redemption because he dies. My bro’s can not catch a break.

What? I need more information because that sounds ridiculous in all the wrong ways.

From watching your videos and reading a little of the comics, made me really prefer and appreciate Ben more as Spidey. A Spider-Man that actually LIKES and WANTS to be Spider-Man is such a breath of freash air. I feel like most heroes in media treat the whole superhero thing as a burden or curse, in some cases an atonement, but Spider-Man never felt that way to me. Nor ever should he. I mean come on dude, he goes fucking "woohoo" when he flings himself across a skyscraper at 300 miles per hour, don't tell me he's not having fun. And the fact Ben was ecstatic when he got to be Spider-Man again with his brand new suit was just so heartwarming! So yeah, I just wanted to gush for a little bit because I've been with this dude since the PS1 Spider-Man game and I've always picked his hood outfit whenever it was an option in other games but I never took the time to learn about him. So thank you for your videos and I also hope Ben Reilly gets what he truly deserves later down the line. One more thing, this 0:05 That middle pic... The tank top, the pose... I just can't man, I'm too gay for this kind of crap

Ben Reilly DESERVES JUSTICE!! He flipping does! As much as Peter Parker. They're just being chucked on, written incorrectly, you are write Ben deserves to be Spider-Man as much as Peter. Despite me at first not appreciating Ben Reilly as a character when I was younger, I was only getting into comics at the time and I just wanted to read my boy Peter Parker. But, as I have gotten older and learn about the scumbags that people in Marvel Editorial like Nick Lowe are now, and how they're just destroying every that everyone loves about these characters. Thanks to this channel, I really grew to love Ben as much as Peter, hopefully one day Peter, Ben and Kaine can be free. Hopefully they can just be free to be the Spider-brothers. Your not alone syn Scarlet Spider was and still my favorite Spiderman costume I first had access to it in the PS1 Spiderman Duolugy games I would work my butt off to unlock it,and for marvel to disrespect it and the character who brought this costume in Existence is appalling to me

Well you never know, Nick Lowe and Zeb Wells confirmed that they have no plans on EVER using the character again - chasm or not. Currently, the X-Men writers have total control over Ben, and from what we've seen of him from them, they're not planning on delegating him to just a villain role.

Let’s just get this out of the way. We are all suffering from L’s all around the Spidey Fan Community. Peter is getting terribly written stories from Zeb Wells. MJ is stuck with Paul, a character I refuse to trust. Ben has been character assassinated to hell. And Kaine has been forgotten. At least fans of Kaine can breathe a sigh of relief that the writers haven’t screwed him up yet.

I’ve been saying this for awhile now but I stand by it. We need an animated movie or show about the Spidey brothers Peter, Ben, and Kaine. Also, I love the passion you focus into all your videos. They make me feel better about being a Spidey fan in this dark time.

As a Kaine fan thank you we don't eat much. But I think with Miles and Peter are Spider-Men and Kaine and ben are the Scarlet spiders but that's me growing up reading Kaine's book and just hearing never read the clone saga (they are lieres and I'm reading now). Now I for what might get me flamed but chasam's suit is good juju really bad colors. Change it to the classic red(scarlet) and blue. And any time Peter is out of NYC or dead or whatever weird thing comics do he can have a beyond and sensational mixed style suit. Now I'm not saying Ben is just a replacement. He just respects his brother and Millies alot. Also just Kaine and Ben there awesome together like Peter and Millies

I'd say for people who enjoy Ben Riley spider-man (myself included) have him as a spider-man in a different state like L.A. or Texas like they did with Kain, so that he's his own spider-man, that way you can not have him in the story while not killing him.

Literally barely read the Clone Saga (cus all I could get my hands on were the Amazing comics, so barely got any of it) and yet I love ben reiley. Mostly because of Spider-Man TAS and it's version of the clone saga

What's your opinion on the Chasm and Scarlet Spider comic coming up? I personally don't have high hopes for it, but it is being written by Steve Foxe, and he wrote Ben competently in his Dark Xmen series for the brief times he showed up.

I think that no matter how well it's written, it's just going to be a rehash of the Peter David's Scarlet Spider run - which I hated.

Work is a strong word. Kaines scarlet spider solo runs were good, but they didn't seem to keep him in the spotlight unfortunately. And doc ock still sauntered around with the "superior" spider title till they roped him back into villainhood.
