This is so helpful. I kinda know subconsciously that even though I can hit those 10s, the consistency is affected by my posture and you confirmed it. Now my resolve to put in more work into the physical training has been reinforced. Your other vids are also super helpful, thank you.

Another good video 👍 It's good to see the comparison of the before / after in your own technical development, and a really important point about treating the cause, not the side affect...

I'm not sure where to begin as it's such a large subject. I'll avoid one of my favourite rants but I blame ArcheryGB for most people's lack of technique/posture and the simple fact that I can learn more watching your videos (& others) than I can learn from coaches. That aside, I've had a few months off for various reasons and just started back doing some indoor. I found it interesting to note that a part of me thinks the break may have even improved my technique by taking me back to basics, but the main point I wanted to make, was in relation to being over-bowed. Last night I was still hitting golds but within about half an hour I knew I was struggling due to being over-bowed. It's something where it's easy to allow ego to take over and keep shooting (this is my bow! I can handle it!) but the reality that struck me is that if you aren't shooting regularly, dropping to a lighter bow until you recover fitness, makes sense. The same goes for people just shooting once a week in general. A lot of field archers can get away with it because they only half draw, but for target archers where technique is king, backing off seems the only way.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm happy you find the videos useful :) You're absolutely right about being over-bowed, it's extremely easy to plough on regardless, but as you say the right thing is to drop to a lighter bow and work back up. Although it doesn't feel like it in the moment, it will actually save you time too!

Is pepper posture as important for shooting compounds?

Hello, since I have been trying to put this method in place (points of the feet turned outwards with tension in the legs to the buttocks, tilted pelvis and tight abdominals) I have pain in my lower back as I go. during my training session. It is surely a lack of muscle and a compensation but which muscle group?

Well, I bought a bow a couple of weeks ago and have been having real fun learning and shooting. I've also really enjoyed your videos and working on the things you point out. But now, particularly with this video, I'm wondering if this is for me at all. I honestly cannot see the "obvious" problems you point out. I can't see that the elbow is going down during the drawing of the string. And as I diagnose some of my issues I must come to the conclusion that I need a stronger core and a whole bunch of other fixes--most of which I don't understand and cannot see (I haven't seen an expansion yet)--to be competent at this. It's looking like a massive hill to climb! Didn't think I'd be spending hours and hours in the gym working through a couple dozen exercises for many months just to be a competent archer. I don''t mind exercising, training, etc., but it's becoming quite daunting. Nevertheless, I sincerely appreciate the effort you put into these videos and your genuine efforts to help your viewers learn. I am picking up this sport at 67 with hopes of finding a sport I can enjoy into my later years. But it's seeming somewhat impossible. (Sorry for the long narrative...)
