One of the signature ballads from renowned horn band Tower of Power, this tune includes the famous trumpet solo introduction that is one of those magical moments that trumpet players dream about! The rest of the chart is outstanding as well. Includes solo for tenor sax.

You're still a young man Baby, Oo oo, don't waste your time. You're still a young man Baby, Oo oo, don't waste your time. Down on my knees Oh, heart in hand I was accused of being too young But I'm not so young I could make you happy I'm not a bad man You're too young to love (If you and I could be together) You're too young to love (I'll never never leave you alone baby) You're too young Ooo Ooo (No I won't sweet lady) Don't waste your time The damage is done You see that you were wrong You wake up wondering just How well I've done Well I've done alright Yes there are some girls but you know I dropped them on sight Just for you Because I love you. You're still a young man Baby, Oo oo, don't waste your time. (Someday you'll understand just what it means when a man Comes to you with his little heart in his hands Just to love you) Don't waste your time You better listen to me Sayin that I'm loving you yeah hey now baby tryin to tell You that it's you you you you you you you you talkin to you Baby, I'll never never never never I'll never never do you No wrong no no lady if you would check my stuff out one time haha Just to hold you, just to squeeze you and all I wanna do is to Get next to you and please please please you baby See where I'm comin from!

Suggestion for any band that struggles with the D.S. (as does the band I play this with): Transitioning from the rock-waltz-ish feel back to the 12/8 ballad feel is awkward because the drums and bass are written tacet during the last two bars before the D.S. If the rhythm section plays the transition (tastefully, of course), instead of laying out, the implied metric shift can still happen but it can be made smoother. Odd choice of time signatures to write this in. The way it’s written, each measure sounds like a quarter of a measure. It makes counting bars difficult because what sounds like one bar at a slow tempo is written like 4 bars and a medium tempo. I suppose that’s fine so the tempo and time signatures won’t have to change for the waltz section. Still, I think I’d rather have that change than have to keep calculating how many bars have gone by the whole time. (I know, I’m whining about having to use what should be a standard skill: counting bars. I can suck it up and deal with it. Just saying it could be easier for the player with this adjustment.) The chart sounds great though!

Is it me, or does this sound like the drummer was listening to a click that the band wasn’t hearing? The whole band is so far ahead of the drums the whole time. Anyone else hear that?
