Thank you for all your content and effort. My wife is physically disabled and her mobility has drastically decreased in the last year. A few months ago I started looking into work that would allow me more time home, but also afford us a vehicle (I bike everywhere currently). I dove deep into this reselling niche, and the ins and outs. I just have to order a printer soon, but my scale and shipping materials arrived today. I picked up 40 Ralph Lauren\LL Bean\\Nike clothing lot at a garage sale for 20 dollars, a bunch of sealed movies, cds, and cassettes (about 80 total for 30 dollars) and a handful of other goodies. Once the printer comes I will begin my new journey. Thank you again, Justin. You’ve been illuminating the path for me. Appreciate you 🤝

@Six3Cyclist If you want to get started before your printer arrives, you can purchase labels on eBay and request a QR code instead of printing a label. The code comes to your email & can be scanned by the post office. They print the label at the counter, or you can do it on the self-service machine. I don't have a printer. I've been using the QR code for over a year. Works great until maybe you are mailing 10 plus items a day.

Justin is great. I, too, sell full-time because I care for my elderly mother, who has dementia. I also help with my sister, who has a lung disease. It's hard taking care of a loved one, and I will be praying for your wife and you as well. Definitely consider the QR codes and let the USPS print the postage at the post office until you get your printer. It takes time, but with combination of hard work and learning will help your business grow. I sold my first item on ebay in 2004. For years I only sold here and there, and I actually got into selling cars for people. Life happens and I stopped selling for a long time. Installed back part time 18 months ago while I did another job from home. My sales during Q4 convinced me to take the plunge and do this full-time. June was my best month yet. My niece is helping me build up a draft bank over the summer while she isn't teaching. Try to think long term and don't get tied down worrying if sales slack temporary. That happens sometimes, and it isnt always because you did or did not do something. Consistent listing seems to be the main key.

Can you make a video going over you accounting method. How you prepare for tax season, or smart ways to pre plan. Also when I sell an item on Facebook market place, I input it as a credit on Flipwise. I am assuming that's what you do too. It would be cool if you could add a ledger allowing us to input data from selling on other platforms. I appreciate you and everything you are doing for the community. You have taught me so much and I have avoided so many mistakes because of you.

On STR, while it’s a good metric to check, as long as it’s not zero (or close to 0), I think this question is more important: Would you be happy to sell the item at the lowest price listed? If the answer is yes (and you’ll make enough money to be worth your time), I’d go for it.

As a hobby seller I agree. I love selling vintage clothing. Some of it takes a while and sell through rates can be nonexistent but some of the pieces are so cool and I love knowing they’re getting a new life:)

I would personally disagree, I find it to be a very important metric. I use it in deciding whether or not to purchase an item to begin with. An item with 100 listed and 10 sold indicates it may take up to 10- 90 day cycles for your item to sell, even if you are good with the lowest price that is potentially a long time to wait. I might still buy it if it has significant value, but I am better off buying a less valuable item that sells quicker. Many digital cameras right now have 1000+% sell through rates, so I can base my purchase decision on that (ie a no brainer).

10:40 I started using blaze which I think is a chrome extension and I love it for very quickly typing out things that don't change like my basic condition description I just type /cond and it automatically fills in what I normally put there if there's nothing wrong with the item. For my description template I type /desc and my template pops in. I can create different templates and you can create just about anything with it to auto fill with just a few strokes on the keyboard. I love it. 😅

Probably the smartest answer I have heard on STR yet on YT. STR is only one part of the reselling equation. Too many new resellers get caught up in striving for a 200% sell through rate (not a real thing) and walk by money every day. Actually, Justin is the only reseller I have ever seen that has a 300% STR. He has literally sold the same soccer jersey 3 flipping times!!!

Awesome video Justin! I thank you for teaching so much valuable information! I agree on the sell through rate. Today I picked up a Nordstrom sue wong hand beaded silk nwt dress for $7.99, retail tag $368. Not the greatest sell through rate, high profit though, so i am willing to sit on it it! Question: i feel like i spend too much time researching. Do you have a method? I use Google lens first, because in my opinion, ebay throws me off the wall things. I find the description and then go to ebay. It's tedious. Is there a more streamlined option?

Hi Justin, Thanks for answering all of these questions! In this video someone asked a tax question. Before you developed Flipwise, how did you keep up with all of the expenses eBay charged to report taxes? Does eBay offer monthly or annual report that separates purchase price from the fees, taxes and shipping label expenses to help with taxes at the end of each month, or year? Thanks again for all of your knowledge and help!

Random and odd tip here for people who are buying bubble wrap for shipping: If you know someone who has a swimming pool and they're buying a new solar cover, usually those covers have to be trimmed. Solar covers are literally giant sheets of industrial bubble wrap. The trimmed sections can be HUGE and they'll just be thrown away. Get em'! Bit of a strange and specific tip but free bubble wrap!

I didn’t think they were supposed to change address after shipping? Thanks for all your very helpful videos.

I dunno about interacting with the site, I have accepted offers while on vacation and ebay expects me to be able to ship those. So i'd be afraid to do anything, Got dinged with 5 late shipments once and they said there was nothing they could do. Back at the time they told me you cant accept offers while on vacation dont know if that has changed that was a couple of years ago. Items can sell regularly just fine but yeah you could get complaints however doing interaction makes ebay think youre at home even though you're just on the app.

If I list an item for say $60 with free shipping or $45 with $15 shipping, is one of these options more likely to be purchased? I’m not sure how much people are paying attention to the free shipping aspect. Also, if someone does a search for an item at a particular price range, would offering free shipping but at a higher item price possibly keep my item out of the search results when my item would have showed up with the lower list price and shipping fee? I hope I explained this well

Hey, new reseller here. Just missed the flipwise discount code by a day or two haha. I love the content and have been binging a good amount of it over the past few weeks. I got a couple of questions if you had the time. 1. Do auctions that ended up with the buyer not paying still pop up when searching for comps? I feel like that could mess up my feeling for how much an items sold market value actually is. 2. The thrift store in mainly getting a lot of my high net return items likes to wrap the boxes in enormous of amounts of tape, any way in specific you have of getting tape off without damaging vintage boxes? Also shipping policies have been a difficult thing to set up and some tips on them would be appreciated. thanks 👍👍

wow! I felt good about my 373.00 sales in the last 7 days until i saw Jody's total (lol) I am still new (getting close to starting the 4th month) and working with the inventory my husband left when he passed. Due to trying to figure out the taxes (his computer is pw protected and he didn't tell anyone or write it anywhere and all his records are..on that computer!) so I'm not sourcing at the moment. Question, The first month of my store I put a baseball style hat that is from the VANS corp. I only put one picture (i don't do just one anymore) up and even though it has the vans logo in the back of the cap, ebay removed the listing as a fake. Can I relist this item with better pictures, or will I get into a problem with ebay for relisting an item they removed?

Good job of saying you don’t give tax advice while you’re giving, however minor, tax advice. There are numbers on the amount of income you must pay income taxes on and sales taxes are handled on the state level. At small amounts I wouldn’t worry, but if you start making decent money you better consult a tax advisor (NOT uncle Joe who has never owned a business in his life). I could go on, but just be careful. The government’s position is that it’s their money and you can’t keep it. lol. seriously.
