I think I had to read that book three times in three separate grades in school, and I never liked it. I tried, but I could never get into it.

They are STILL reading this book in schools! My son is in 7th grade this year and they just finished reading The Outsiders in his English class. It's crazy to me that schools haven't discovered any new books to add to their curriculum.

it's not that they haven found new books, it's that it's a pretty timeless, damn good book. a lot of classes that cover this also make sure to cover how s.e. hinton wrote it in high school, which encourages a lot of young writers.

The book and movie are both good in their own ways. The book was obviously more detailed and like emotional i guess (pony is a sensitive boi and we love him)plus has all the stuff the movie just didn't have time for, the movie was easier for me to connect to though, something about seeing them, especially dally, and i feel like i got it a lot more. The movie also had young matt dillon tho so.... Dallas is mine
