Tbh I still feel as though, when you move to the side you will have this weird grey brown patch visible to the eye, contour colour analysis and selection is far more complex than people realise, to find the EXACT shade that mimics the shadows of your face is not easy but that is the only thing that will actually create the illusion that people desire. Otherwise you can look forward and convince yourself your face looks slimmer, but the minute you look to the side theres just a weird patch on your face. It doesn’t matter how much you blend it, and ngl same goes for bronzer.
@krisdiane

@jessicalin831

well, its not like shes saying this is how you should apply contour and thats it. she says that this is a way to do it, using wonyoung as an example. i dont deny it, wonyoung has stronger features than what she was describing, but the purpose was to show a way to apply contour more naturally. trends are trends, they dont imply anything about how people should look or what they should do. it just so happens that it appealed to a large population and more people want in on the action. this makeup isnt trying to fight any facial structures but to enhance the desired parts of the face and diminish the visually undesired. in the end, it isnt permanent and can be washed off. it isnt harmful content, promoting permanent change like plastic surgery. makeup is still just makeup and there is nothing wrong with transforming yourself into what you want to be. i dont think you would be saying this if the creator did a makeup look that is extremely niche.
@pleaseno4348

@@jessicalin831 I wouldn’t be saying it no matter what makeup the creator says. It’s not about the makeup, it’s about her dialogue, and convincing herself that she naturally has a “softer” face when its obvious that she has strong cheekbones and jaw structure, and arguably that is genuinely harmful for her audience. You can see her edit her filtered face in pictures, as well as putting on makeup that inherently shuts down her natural features(such as jawline and sharp cheekbones) just so she can tell herself that she has “soft, flat” like Wonyoung. If a creator was doing a more artistic, niche makeup look that was genuinely about the makeup and not facial dysmorphia, then yea I wouldn’t say anything
