It's more so if you're not a fan of Harry Potter, the game is pretty boring, especially with other fantasy games out there. The dialogue and voice acting being horrible doesn't make the experience any better either. As someone who has never really liked Harry Potter, this was one of the most painful playthroughs I've ever seen Charlie do, but to someone who loves Harry Potter, this game would seem amazing.

Can you explain? I'm like prolly two hours from seeing the scene you're talking about based on others. It seems more aesthetic than anything else.

A cool detail I noticed was at the beginning after the dragon attacks the carriage the thestrals become visible. Because only people who are surrounded by death or have had close encounters with death can see them.

@@josephibarra943 I think most people recognized that detail, to be honest. Even I was thinking it was a nice touch. People who are playing this game are very likely HP enthusiasts, or at the very least they've seen the films and remember the thestral plot point from OotP. I agree it was a really cool way to show it, but it wasn't exactly an easter egg or hidden detail.

Charlie's reaction to Peeves is surprising, I didn't expect him to be at a loss for words meeting a magical rhyming porta potty poltergeist.

@@SWISS-1337 Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Surprisingly the story and characters have been rather...lackluster so far. The writing seems to be of the mindset where 10 words are enough to convey something, but they wanted 100 words instead. It's like panto, but done really badly and without the humor. Hopefully it picks up, because so far, the story has dragged.

@@Blackemperess yes it's such a shame. Games tend to focus on trying to appeal to as many people as possible. But that comes hand in hand with not offending anyone, and the only way to do that is to make the games so passion-less, so bland and so different or watered down from their original source material, that often completely ruins the experience. Like with this game from a beloved franchise, the FF7 Remake is a perfect example (tifas under shirt, Barrett being a wet noodle of a character compared to his original (I still think he is well done, but the original Barrett was better), materia system etc). You can tell they're prioritising profits in the short term over long term fan retention when you hear statements from the company saying "they're trying to appeal to a new generation of fans". Well, geez thanks, only been asking for this remake for 20 years and supporting the company, making them into the giant they are now, for them to say "yes that's good, but you know what's better than your happiness? Money!". As well as greed, the culture of society has become a massive obstacle for developers now. The Pareto curve principle accurately represents the loudest and most ignorant 20% of society causing 80% of the issues/decisions, because those 20% also likely fall under the Dunning Kruger principle. They ignorantly fight and argue so vehemently that they get their way, despite the fact they have no clue what they're talking about (think antivaxers, flat earthers, people who identify as house plants/dogs/children/different races etc). They moan and ruin the media, and then still moan that it wasn't changed enough to their liking or don't bother to even experience it themselves, because they just wanted to fight and feel special.

The old woman talking about going to wales and living to tell the tale is a normal reaction to getting out of Wales

Just finished it in 51 hours. This game goes hard Frl. I love the world of Harry Potter and a game set in this world where it looks realistic was all I hoped for. The devs should be proud

I'm 30 hours in and starting to get bored. I think it's a good game, but I'm struggling to get the motivation to finish it.

Kind of weird takes on the game that I never once thought, bad voice acting, too much exposition, having an issue with the attack indicator. Tbh it just seems like he went into this game biased against it cause I'm not really understanding the criticism.

i think Tom bombadil was treated by tolkien more as a plot transition rather then a full fledged character. though what he is described, it would be intriguing to have his story a bit more fleshed out

I also think it's good, better than what I expected. I can understand why people like it however I also understand why some find it lackluster. For starters, it's really really really easy and I'm not saying that lightly. Even on the hardest difficulty it's a breeze to plow through. I'm not saying that good games should be hard but c'mon at least up the difficulty a bit, some people enjoy the challenge. I think it would've been great if it required more precision when it comes to the timing of the prego, and the enemy AI aren't great either. The graphics are great, the combat is good (although it gets boring), the story is fine and the environment is packed with details. Bottom line is, it's a good game but I think it could be better. Edit: I just realized the game was also targeted towards harry potter fans who might not play games that much so I guess it makes sense that it's easy. Wouldn't mind having that extra difficulty as an option tho
