Wonderful voices to hear them singing where I am thousands of miles away from where I was born. I live in the Pacific Northwest. Vancouver, Canada. I really appreciate this Irishness from far away, thank you E.D.

assalam alaikum - peace be upon you. For all their differences, each religion has something uplifting to give to the world. Christianity has the singing of spiritually uplifting, and often enlightening, hymns and psalms with which all can sign the praises of God. This choir, Voices of Ireland, have recorded another hymn that expresses this desire to sing and fill one's heart with praise - it is called, How Can I Stop From Singing - its also on KZread. This choir's singing has a haunting, mystical quality and it is the best version of this hymn that I have ever heard. Enjoy.

What a gorgeous rendition of this song. Previously I had enjoyed only the Josh Grobin version. Beautiful as it is, this choir adds extra beauty to it with their gorgeous harmonies... such an important message in this troubled world! Yes, let Him lift you to His shoulders... and let's BEE more than we can ever BEE without him!

This Hymn was composed by an Irish man it was actually about his father but can be taken as a hymn. He the composer had his leg amputated and his dad supported him fully.

@janettedavis It is beautiful, but, to be strictly correct and to give due credit, it was composed by Rolf Lovland, a Norwegian. The words were written by probably Ireland's best poet, composer and writer (currently) Brendan Graham.

The Irish have abandoned the Church in droves in recent years. Churches across the country stand near-empty at mass time. Attendance has collapsed and continues to fall, especially among young people. This in the one European country that had continued to embrace its religion and to live under the edicts of its priests for generations after Christianity had faded in other nations. And a good thing. The Catholic Church in Ireland was shot through with horrible abuse, corruption and lies. Even those were not abusers - including child molesters and serial rapists - were often complicit in covering up the abuse and corruption. The Church had to be brought kicking and whining to a reckoning with the law and with its surviving victims. The pretty hymn is almost meaningless. The faithful will not be returning.

@@philipbrennan4214 - Religious music is often quite pretty. Fine, but what of it when the church it glorifies has proven to be so corrupt? Ask the children raped by priests in their thousands, and the damaged adults they grew up to be, and the hundreds of thousands of indigenous children in church boarding schools molested and abused over generations if a pretty hymn somehow makes everything better. Highly f*cking doubtful.
