Great video. So many black women expect that they can spend 0 time on their hair everyday and are indignant when they learn that they have to spend SOME time on their hair each day, each week or each month. We spend 8 hours on a wash "day" every 2 months and expect that is enough. We complain that women of other races don't have to spend as much time. Well, I have observed women of other races spending up to 1.5 hours on their hair every single day. Now multiply 1.5 hours by 30 days and you get way more time spent on hair than an 8 hour wash day once every two months. ALL hair requires daily care if you want it to look good. Folks (of any race) who just wake up and do nothing to their hair LOOK like they did nothing to their hair.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve always grown up around a diverse group of women and the amount of time and care that other woman women put into their appearance would truly shock a lot of black women. I have Dominican friends who don’t even know who to wash their own hair because they weekly get it down at the salon and that was the key to them growing it down to their butt.

I agree 100%!
It is true. Caring for your hair should be therapeutic and a way to connect with yourself.

true! I agree!
Your point of view is so true. Consistency, learn what's working for your hair, take the time to do your haircare routine and be patient. Bonus : Don't compare yourself. To grow your hair you need a new mindset! 🎯

Thank-you for your lovely comment
I can relate. I was raised by a single dad and I had to learn a lot of things on my own. I had a similar realization with a college friend of mine. I watched her go from chin length to waist length hair. I always thought she had such beautiful fast growing “good” hair. Years later I happened to be staying with her on a day she was doing her wash day. It was literally an all day process to wash her hair…and it was relaxed. I used to think she was making excuses when she said she couldn’t make it somewhere because she was washing her hair. Boy was I wrong. So when people say natural hair is hard I usually interpret that to mean they probably don’t have great haircare practices in general whether straight or natural. I’ve thought about making an e-book because every time someone asks me about my hair they expect me to be able to give them THE answer in a 2 minute conversation. I don’t think natural hair is hard but I don’t think it’s a 2 minute conversation either 😅.
Yeah and til this day some peoples 👀 thinks, peoples with straight hair just wake up an go ! When somes of them have the same STEP (wash, condition, style, etc) etc of people with texture hair, if it's not more (straitenning, brushing everyday etc!

Exactly!
Check Mate-Light Bulb moment for me. I grew up the same way, with little make up or stylish hair as my mom was a working mom and wasn't so girlee, so I too was sort of a tom-boy. Now older, I'm more girlee and care for my hair more now than ever! Thank you for your wisdom on hair care! HUGZ

Aww no problem, Sherry!
I love this video! People also need to realize that when you talk badly about your own hair it will stunt it’s growth. It’s important to speak love and prayers to God into your hair so it can flourish. I pray for my hair and speak love into it. I’m happy with the growth of my hair and how healthy it is. 😊 My goal is to reach booty length, but with time, patience, and consistency I know I will get there.❤

Yes, this is so true! I am currently trying to transition from relaxed to natural. I was taught to hate my natural hair, and I still speak negatively about my hair and I notice that this is really stunting its growth! I'm trying to speak and think positive thoughts over it now, but it will take practice

Wow, God sent you to my list right on time. So, about those difficult hair types. I have that wavy frizzy not curly but not straight blond hair driving me nuts!!! 😂 Got to put time in learning I guess.
Thank you! You truly blessed me. I'm 51 with salt and pepper hair. This video was confirmation that I am on the right track with my hair journey. If I want it to stay beautiful, I have to continue to put the time in. Loving on my hair daily! Your crown is absolutely gorgeous. Keep up the great work ❤

Wow, so glad I have locs. Her hair is simply AMAZING! I mean truly beautiful, I’m good with my locs though and wash my hair more often than 98% of black women and that, to me, is the first step to healthy hair that flourishes and grows

I'm new to your channel. Do you ever blow-dry your hair? I have 4c hair (with 4b hair in the back). I some times get my hair blow dried and then two strand twisted. However, I find I have more shedding and knots during the take down compared to if I just twist damp hair. 🥺
