Important note to Asylees who applied for Adjustment of Status: “Section 209 of the INA, which contains the statutory provisions for adjustment of status for asylees and refugees, does not contain a provision that asylees and refugees abandon their adjustment of status applications by departing the United States without a grant of advance parole. Since asylees and refugees returning to the United States from abroad with valid and unexpired refugee travel documents are readmitted with their asylee or refugee statuses, their adjustment of status applications will not be considered abandoned on account of traveling abroad.”

Is it ok to re enter the USA with just a green card as a recent asylee

My Green Card was approved about 4 months ago while my Advanced Parole was still pending. Late last week, I got a notice that my I-131 case was Denied and Terminated. The details under “Status” said, “We closed your Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, because the applicant or petitioner received a status or benefit through other means.” Is everything all good in this case?

Hi Kseniya, I love your videos. Thanks for sharing. My mother was granted Venezuelan Humanitarian Parole and came to the States a year ago. Her work permit and SSN have been granted to her. Furthermore, I applied for her Adjustment of Status (I-485) and her documents are currently being reviewed by the USCIS. We have high hopes of receiving her green card, but the USCIS has a backlog. My mother must go back to Venezuela due to my sister's illness, so I'm filling out her advanced parole using the I-131 form. But I have some doubts, I'm hoping you can lend a hand. Let's say I applied for July but received it in the middle of the month. Is it valid only for one month I applied for or can it be used in 5 months instead?

Thank you for this informative video. One thing I was expecting you to comment on is what mentioned on USCIS and what some immigration attorneys say that approved valid I-131 is not in itself a guarantee of reentry into the US. What is your take on this point ?

That is true, however that statement applies to most US visas. Most applicants have no issue using advance parole. One must analyze the complexities of their own case to know if it’s safe for them to use AP.

There is a scenario where you can have a approved AP document say till next month and also you could have applied for the extension say last month, what will happen in that case, can the return be done with the approved AP that is valid for next two months

Good Evening, My advance parole is expiring on 24th April. I haven't got my green card so I applied for another AP. Same procedure as last time but I travelled outside USA on my about to expire AP. I recently got an RFE on my current AP application. I am not sure why but should it be a cause of concern?

Asylum seekers (who do not yet have an approved asylum status) may apply for advance parole in rare emergency situations (life or death). Maria Shepelsky made a few short videos about it.

I have one question. When buying tickets, do I use my AP's name, which is my married name, or do I use my passport name, which is my maiden name? Thank you!

Hello ! I filed Form I-130 for my adult son when I was a permanent resident of the US. I recently became a US citizen and I need to change my status. Form I-130 was approved almost a year ago, it says that the case is approved and closed but wasn't transferred to NVC because my Form I-824, which I additionally submitted (because I didn't provide the address on Form I-130), hasn't yet been processed. Please tell me can I change my status now?..if so how?.....or should I wait until my I-130 is sent to NVC? Thanks in advance for your answer!

Is it possible to expedite I130 for disabled dependent sibling? I am about to fill out I130 for my mother but my sister is a disabled person who is dependent on my mother for care, she is ober 21 and unmarried.
