Colombia is a wonderful country I am from the United States have been living here for the last six years. Currently Living in Medellin So I recommend that city to you another beautiful place is what they call the White city of Colombia (Popayan) The seven colors of the ocean in San Andreas Island (The currency is Colombian pesos and most the natives Can speak English on the island I highly Recommend the island. Another is Santa Marta there’s different spots where the ocean is more clean and there’s parts where the water has more of a coal in it so you’ll have to look and see if that’s an area you’d want to go the list can go on

I visited Cartagena in September and I agree, definitely a city to add to you list. You didn't mention what I consider to be very important. The exchange rate. The USD ( and CAD) goes a very long way.

Cartagena looks and sounds delicious. I bet the food 🥗 tastes delicious as well. It is on my wish list to visit this beautiful South American city 😉 Thank you Alina. Greetings from Germany...🍺🖐

Alina, very nice. The first time I was in Cartagena about 20 years ago, stayed in the Hilton hotel which was outstanding. I was surprised by hospitality of the people, also felt quite safe over there. A lot changed since then, the city expanded over the north coast, the airport is at least 2x larger and they paved the road to it .. :)))) ... but the old town is the same, it feels like being in some different world and culture, it is hard to describe. There is also nice view from the top of the main fortress.

The old town is a special place, when you walk over there ,inside the castle you can realise a feeling of nostalgia and sadness because 200 years ago the Spanish had their slaves in chains.

THIS COMMENT! I'm an American who lives part time in Mexico and I hear it all the time..."Omg aren't you scared/Mexico is so dangerous/The cartel will kill-rape-kidnap you/You're a woman alone in Mexico omg" and I tell them to stop watching TV and go get their passport. I ask them how many countries they've been to and they usually shut up b/c most Americans don't have a passport which is sad. Anyway, there are very few places I consider dangerous. The ones that I wouldn't travel to are only because of my passport as American, not that I"m scared to actually go there. Russia for example -- I'd love to go but right now it's not a good place for an American to travel b/c of world politics. Anyway, didn't mean to write a book as a reply LOL.

exactly they need tax dollars and cheap workers so they want people coming to America. Crime in and around cities is so bad now. So I am guessing they are selling some kind of "dream" to get people to leave there nice countries to flee to USA . I am sure it is a big shock. cost of living is skyrocketing so bad here. The smart Americans have already left.

Cartagena is definitely on my bucket list after watching this! Also kudos for extensively covering the Walled city, something that other creators (and few friends who have been there) don't talk about. Congrats on 140k subs! I'm from Cartagena and I'm glad you enjoyed my city. Also here we have a bunch of beutiful islands that you can visit and the beaches in the islands are way better than the Bocagrande one. I recommend you to visit Medellin!

@@AlinaMcleod In Bocagrande the sand is dark so the water looks cloudy, but you can buy a boat tour to the Rosario Islands that includes a time at Playa Blanca beach. There the sand is white and the sea is turquoise. This territory is to the south of the city and is not yet well developed in terms of hotel infrastructure.

​@@sef9512 well, Medellin is a big beautiful city, but is another type of turism, when you travelled to Cartagena, you go to the beach, and do that type of things you know. Medellin is my favorite City but maybe in your birthday you prefeer Cartagena. Sorry for my bad english.

We could see some sky-scrapers on the horizon at the end of the live, so it was good to see a bit more of that part of town. But yes the walled city and Getsemani look beautiful, really nice to see them in high def.

I was in Cartagena the last week of november. We stayed on the 41st floor of the Morriscity building behind you on the Bocagrande beach. For the first week of december we moved further down the coast to Santa Marta, which was also great. In two days, I return to frozen Saskatoon.🥲

Cartagena is one of those places that can really take your breath away. Do stay in the walled city or just outside in Getsemani to live the real colonial era vibe that makes this city so special.

Suggestions: Medellin, a really amazing beautiful, full of culture, landscapes, flowers, food. Quindío, at the hart of the coffee region of Colombia, place of the national tree, the wax palm. It's the second place to be visited in Colombia Others spots: Cali, the salsa music capital of Colombia Barranquilla: if you will stay for a couple of months, you have to know the carnival city. Santa Marta, close to Cartagena, with Tayrona Park in the coastline, some hiking areas, beautiful beaches. Santander: Chicamocha canyon with amazing landscapes.

There are other places of wax palm in Colombia, with bigger forests.

Great history break down on Cartagena Alina, very beautiful city with a lot of history behind it by the sounds of it. As for the street vendors, I always do my best to support them, that's their livelihood and I'm very fortunate to be in a position to help them when I can. Learn something new everyday. :) NC

It’s great that you have the opportunity to enjoy our lovely country and show it as it is. Thank you for the good word and promotion of the different cities. So, you you have been in Bogotá, Cartagena and there are some many other to go. Also, one recommendation is to visit small towns or how we call them “pueblitos” en Santander, Antioquia, Boyar, as other departments. And thanks again for what you.

Amazing the way you are traveling in my country and the way you are exploring, it´s really excited. In every place you can find a local that can help you with a smile. I highly recommend travel and stay in the rosario islands, explore that zone, because is full of amazing nature and amazing views and you can relax, in Cartagena the best beaches are in Morros. Colombia have amazing places, all depend of what you want, in my opinion, a good next destination is San Andrés Island, you can take a cheap plane ticket from Cartagena. Additional in the Carribbean you can visit Santa Marta, (close to Cartagena) the you can found Tayrona National Park, with amazing views, and if you want something more wild you can go to Palomino at Guajira wtih one of the more beautiful beaches in America. Medellin, Bucaramanga and near towns of Bogotá is gonna be a good experience too.

Recommendation: you better go to Salento and Valle de cocora (same región) it's amazing, the food, the people, the view, everything is pretty much like being in a movie, being in Jurassic park. I must say your video on getting a Russian visa was great because it highlighted just how hard they make it for anyone who was born in the Russian states before late 1991. There’s also another isssue the hotel were a tourist stays must be registered by the hotel staff with the local police. I would say this is one of the hardest and most complicated visas to get in the world. Eye opening 👍

Alina, I used to be the No. 1 private island broker in the World, and two of my favourite places are off the coast of Cartagena. Try visiting Isla San Andres and Isla Providencia, once known as Providence Island and St Andrews island because they were settled by English speaking West Indians. One of the great tropical islands in the World, but almost unknown, I guarantee you will love it.

That braised pork belly looked amazing. I need to make some now. Cartagena is beautiful.
