My art teacher at Kent State would just leave us all and go drinking. Learned absolutely nothing. I have learned a lot from Chris. He’s very intelligent and articulate, but down to earth. I just applied for Paint Week. I love his paintings, too.
Thank you, learnt a lot. Your sincerity to teach is very evident in every video. 👍👍👍
Don't only rely on cropping. Dont be afraid to move things. Excellent advice!!
Pearls of wisdom thank you for sharing when I follow along, I feel grounded, peaceful,. happy and content. I am present thanks for the gift dear Chris

Happy to help!
Thank you. This helps me in my landscape painting journey.
Such a warm speech, as always )
You've made a lot of videos. You probably think about what you can do to make your videos better. Well this one was one of your best! Thank you!
Brilliant and helpful. Simplifying is sooo tricky, but you've simplified the whole principle and made it easy to understand and apply. I loved the key point. I don't paint in oils but I often watch your tutorials. Thanks Chris- Paint Coach
i love the idea of the paint week!!!! didnt know u were doing this!!!!
Very helpful, thank you! I'm looking forward to Paint Week.
Totally right Chris , with so much in a scene its definitely hard not to give the same attention to everything of interest, I heard it said once in an art book ,never try to tell 2 stories on the one canvas.
Thanks Chris! I wish I saw this video 2 years sooner. I learned it the hard way - pretty much the same way you described: I painted a scene 3 times before I finally figured it out. Very useful advice that I need to keep reminding myself from now on.
I like the houses in the old painting. I signed up for Paint Week. Previous one was fun and helpful.
Thank you. Great advice.
You are the best teacher. Thank you so much
Thank you! Great advice!
This is SO important and one of the lessons I finally learned a couple of years ago.
Great tip video on landscapes❤ Hey Chris no coffee in the video. Plz get coffee in your next video it adds something to your video. 😊
As always thank you Coach you are my go to instructional video when I need instructions or motivation
This is so helpful! Now I will not spend years not knowing this, thank you!!
and that’s where art classes failed me…”always paint what you see”🙃

as far as my understanding goes that point is in reference to avoiding “painting what we think we see” where we end up painting the characteristics that we understand about the object. so an apple is a circle with a stem so we draw a circle with a stem. But this is what we think but not what we see.

@@darshanrbg I said this exact thing to my dad who 'thinks he can't draw' I said.. you're probably overthinking it and drawing what you think the object should look like... just copy what you see.
good advice! thanks
You just uploaded this at the right time! I started landscape painting yesterday and this helped me out a lot :D
Well done Chris! Excellent advice... You are a fantastic teacher & artist.
your a great coach- thanks
this channel is awesome
Such a great lesson, I'm going to replay and take notes!
amazing video, thank you very much!! i've been struggling with landscape drawings for a while now and your advice really helped me out of that pit :)
Great advice!
Grazie x questi preziosi consigli 😃💪💪
I just signed up for my first paint week and I’ll be ordering some of the brushes you recommended along with a 12x9 linen canvas. I can’t wait!

Awesome! Thank you!
I complain all the time about pictures I take not capturing what I'm actually seeing. I'm glad the cooler season is coming up so I can get outside with my paint kit. I live in AZ, so the weather is too unbearable in the summer for plein air.
Good
I found your videos helpful. Please do a video on colour scheme selection. There are lots of videos but confusing. They select 3 analogues colours and then use more than 12 in the same painting 😢😢😢
So sorry to say this but I like BOTH paintings, both are beautiful.
👌👌👌

I prefer the first. There is your soul and your feeling. In the second there is you rational mind. Choose yourself.
st what time are u going to post the video/lesson??
I dont know what its called but i have a certain phobia to greenery scenes when its mostly green and i cant really tell whats there how do i combat this
Hey, i have a question. Been thinking / struggeling w this for a while. Do you use a seperate Brush to mix your colours? Do you use seperate brushes for seperate colours, and seperate medium (containers) to wash your brushes and to use for the diffrent paints? i feel like im missing out on something my colours and medium always end up very dirty
Thanks Chris, I think you make some great points here, but how does someone like Andrew Tischler make such impactful paintings with an abundance of detail throughout the entire painting?
Will the content of paint week be available after it ends?
Was that a bull on the beach?
I am unable to log into the Fundamentals course, or to change my password. Would really like to continue in the course Thanks!
Great tutorial Chris. Common sense prevails. 😎🇦🇺🦘
