Because it's not a classic Liszt showoff piece... which is sad because here we can see Liszt was actually an artist and not just an entertainer.

So glad he listened to this! I love this work... one of my favorite's for the piano. Glad he said that he would listen to this when he was by himself because that is what Liszt intended! The title roughly translates to "God's Blessing in Solitude." The whole piece is about how we can find peace, joy, and happiness, even when we are by ourselves. Not only was Liszt a great composer, but a great philosopher as well.

Liszt is the greatest composer of all times, for me. This piece actually have 3 voices to be heard in the first part, and it is of tremendous difficulty to both be technically perfect and at the same time hear all voices, with the melody to be more intense. Liszt is a true gift to the world of music.

Glad you chose this work. This was the very first Liszt work I heard, when I was 9 years old and it left an indelible mark on my heart. The recording was made by then 63 year old Claudio Arrau, who was a student of Martin Krause - one of Franz Liszt's last and favorite pupils. I play this work it a little slower (not as slow as Arrau's) because of the sheer beauty of it. Hough's tempos, though beautiful in color, for me misses some of the inner beauty of this work. Do listen to Liszt's Annees de Pelerinage and his Piano Sonata - a masterpiece!

Yesss! I am so excited you have finally dived into the endless beauty of Liszt. The channel you found for that recording is one of my favorite channels for anything classical especially obscure Liszt pieces. I have a playlist of Franz Liszt's more unknown and underrated pieces if anyone would love to hear. Every single piece is a must listen. I suggest looking into his transcriptions as well! Those are absolutely amazing. Bach, Chopin, Liszt and Scriabin are personally my top composers in that order. I highly suggest them for those being introduced to classical. I can just ramble on about music all day so I need to control myself haha. Cheers Classical Family! 🎶

Yes! Liszt is bombastically a show-off! Even in his most calming moments. Rock star / S-tiered DJ of his day, you name it. Though he did have competition. Look up his famous piano duel with his 'nemesis,' Thalberg (also a composer in his own right). A collabo composition from some of the greatest pianists of the time was commissioned for the duel: HEXAMERON.

This is not true. Liszt wrote many versions of the harmonies poetiques et religiouses (hope I wrote it correctly), and some of the earliest ones date from 1846, already containing a version of this piece in particular. The version shown in this video was finished in 1853, which is far from liszt's later years.

franz liszt composed these such magnificent harmonies and melodic feelings of love “ the blessing of god in solitude “ is the original name. growing up from 1845-1852 harmonies poétiques was made and is a series of pieces made by liszt. all of these songs in the harmonies poétiques is refrences of poems with the name “Alphonse De Lamartine “ 1790-1869. and Lamartine waxes rapturous is a divine most heavenly beauty that was created and liszt to be there making. growing up liszt wanted to be a priest in the catholic church becoming religious and wanting to take minor positions in the catholic church at his time. lastly to create this piece franz liszt had a poem of Larmartine’s Bénédiction De Dieu Dans La Solitude and then later created this piece that inspired him. so this means even a hug from ur mom or dad or a love letter or a kiss from a fellow girl u like can inspire anybody to make a song and liszt had this “ D’où me vient, ô mon Dieu, cette paix qui m’inonde? (Whence comes, oh my God, this peace that floods over me?). D’où me vient, ô mon Dieu, cette paix qui m’inonde? (Whence comes, oh my God, this peace that floods over me?). that is what liszt thought and the feeling from the letter ! ❤

You will be surprised, I'm sure of it! Clindat played this piece too, but I honestly prefer Andaloro's. Cheers!
