...I really feel bad for Shen jui,. His brother made him believe that he isn't worth saving so he can only save himself but his too broken for saving.

I haven’t read the novel but have heard of spoilers, which honestly I don’t care. If anyone is willing to give me the cannon past of Shen Jiu & Yue Qingyuan would appreciate it.

Alright, spoilers: Shen Jiu was once a slave, and so was Yue Qingyuan, or Yue Qi. One day, Yue Qi told Shen Jiu that he was leaving, and he promised he would come back to save him, but Shen Jiu waited and waited, and he never did, so he burnt down the Qiu Household around the age of 16 because he was tortured badly. At some point, he finds Yue Qi again, and he’s really angry because he broke the promise. Later on around the last chapters, from Shen Yuan, we find out that Yue Qi couldn’t go back to save him because of some qi deviation, but it’s too late, because Shen Jiu was long gone.

if you want the longer version here: Shen Jiu (Slave 9) and Yue Qi (Slave 7) are child slaves. Yue Qi found Shen Jiu in a ditch and decided "Yes you're now my xiao jiu" Anyways with that the two have a bond aka Qi-ge & Xiao Jiu. Xiao Jiu is viscous and self-preserving (him before others) slave and Qi-ge is the generous kind soul of the slaves. Yeah, basically the other slaves look up to Qi-ge because he's sweet and kind, some dislike Xiao Jiu because well, he only cares mostly about himself and Yue Qi. Leading to Xiao Jiu getting into fights and Qi-ge being the stopper of said fights. (Correct me but i'm pretty sure Qi-ge always took the side of the other kids and not Xiao Jiu & basically everytime Xiao Jiu gets in a fight, Qi-ge attempts to placate Xiao Jiu instead of yk figuring out the situation- I may be wrong it's been a while since I read the extras) One day, Qiu Jianluo was going through the city in his big old carriage, and basically one of the other slaves (that i do not remember the name of so we'll call them 'Shi') ran in front of the carriage for some reason and was about to get ran over. (I do not remember if someone called for Yue Qi to help Shi or Yue Qi & Shen Jiu were in the area but anyways) Yue Qi runs in front of the damn carriage as well in an effort to save Shi. Shen Jiu who was already cursing Yue Qi's stupidity in his head had to do something, so if I'm correct he uses his qi (naturally gifted moment) to bend a piece of metal into a sharp blade & shoots it at Qiu Jianluo's horse. Point is he shoots the horse resulting with both Shi & Yue Qi able to live for another day. But that's all in vain because Shi sold them out to Qiu Jianluo when the man was angrily demanding who shot his horse. Great, right? Ok moving on Yue Qi & Shen Jiu are bought by Qiu Jianluo. Then one day, Yue Qi found a chance to escape while Shen Jiu is locked in a room. So Yue Qi starts trying to break and/or pick the locks while Shen Jiu urges him to hurry, but then Yue Qi bitterly remarks that there are too many locks and he can't break them all. With that revelation Shen Jiu urges Yue Qi to escape and just come back from him when he's stronger, because besides Shen Jiu's legs were broken so he won't be able to run with Yue Qi (This is a lie btw, just Shen Jiu trying to make Yue Qi leave already). A lot of persuasion later Yue Qi agrees, and some parting words, promis of coming back, and Shen Jiu telling the other not to be reckless, Yue Qi leaves off to learn how to cultivate/get stronger. (The entire last paragraph is soley based on what I remember and some fics, so it may be slightly in correct. Point is Shen Jiu lies abt his legs, Yue Qi makes a promise, and Yue qi leaves) So anyways the Qiu Manor is hell for Shen Jiu. Qiu Jianluo 'teaches' (let's be honest it's 70% abuse and 30% teaching) Shen Jiu how to read and write. Funfact when Shen Jiu was asked to write the characters he knew he wrote 7 (Qi, number of Yue Qi) then 9 (Jiu, number of himself), implying he cares more about Yue Qi than himself. *Ok Im going to put a content warning here: Desire of Incest & Implied Sexual Assault for the next paragraph go to the next reply for the rest of the story.* I'm going to skip towards the plot about Qiu Haitang. So Qiu Jianluo is the older brother of Qiu Haitang, and Qiu Jianluo spoils her rotten. But eventually it's implied that Qiu Jianluo has _feelings_ for Qiu Haitang. Spoiler it's not brotherly love. And that he wants to aha, marry his sister. But he can't tell her that who knows how QIu Haitang will react, but he doesn't want her to marry off. So his compromise? Qiu Haitang marries Shen Jiu, therefore keeping both of them in the Qiu Household. Ok moving on from that, Shen Jiu is pretty. Like canonly pretty. And Qiu Jianluo notices that, so it's very much implied that he has tried to well r*pe Shen Jiu. Forgive me, but I don't necessarily remember the fine details. Point is Qiu Jianluo abuses Shen Jiu when Qiu Haitang isn't looking, eventually he arranges a marriage between Qiu Haitang & Shen Jiu to keep both of them in the Qiu Household and it's very much implied that he has feeling for his sister like "I want to bed her" feelings and that he at least sexually assaulted Shen Jiu.

@@honey1585 Damn, I wish the scummy older brother a horrible death and hopes he always feels like shit and is shit. This makes me now understand why people always try to defend and favor Shen Jiu (the fandom) because he’s been through hell, but do you have any idea why he abused Bingehe? (The og protagonist) I’ve read fics saying that he was jealous of how strong Bingehe was and how he too was like that at once, But I don’t know if that justifies his abuse as well? Idk I try to be neutral when it comes to hero’s and villains(?) But I am truly curious as too why Shen Jiu abused the og protagonist when he went through the same thing. Thank you for helping me understand Shen Jiu more! And too everyone else!

i honestly haven't understand SJ's past yet bc i literally can't get my hands on svsss book 2 even tho idk if that's where it'll get explained, but probably not, i just prefer reading on a physical book than a computer since my eyes are sensitive and i get eye strains if i stare at a computer screen for too long 💀😭, i only this part of SJ's past but clearly can't understand it yet😞 (idk why i get myself spoiled 🧍‍♀️)
