@@otakugamer616 Nah, overall it wasn't bad. Just overprotecting is all...the internet was chock-a-block full of weirdos and creeps in its infancy, and I came from a household that banned both Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network until I was almost ten.

The fact that Double Whammy was part of your first reaction to Happy Tree Friends is amazing, Flippy is an absolute fan-favorite for his story, struggle with his PTSD and evil Fliqpy persona (There's even a backstory special episode that shows what war event exactly broke him to create this super-murderous Fliqpy alter ego, it's called "Operation Tiger Bomb" and part of their "Ka-Pow!" specials)

I love Flippy too I think it's funny you explained it as a flip switching inside him since his name is Flippy lmaoo

the interesting thing with htf is it seems like the time is in a loop due to splendid turning earth around, + sniffles using a time machine. But flaky seems to emember that flippy kills people so she may remember the deaths previously which explains why shes so anxious

When i was young, my dad discovered this show without knowing what it was about. So he assumed that it was a friendly kids show that I could watch. As soon as the chaos happens, my dad turned off the tv so fast. I just remember the first episode involving the theme park haha 😭

my dad knew what it was about and encouraged me and my brother to watch it when i was like 7 and my brother was 10 and we enjoyed it not realising it was violent cuz i deadass tohught the blood was jam

flippy is pretty much the character with the most depth in the series, the others are mostly just dolls made to be killed lol

What about Lammy being schizophrenic? Flaky having anxiety and remembering her deaths? Cuddles also remembering his deaths? (confirmed in a line from Blast From The Past, he says "NOT THIS OLD DEATH AGAIN!") Petunia having an extreme level of OCD? Handy having the possibility of being a sociopath? Buddhist Monkey having great combat skills and being the only character that hasn't died once? Splendid and Splendont being super-squirrels? Yeah, pretty sure Flippy is not the only character with depth, and pretty sure the other characters aren't dolls to kill at all

I can still remember when I was like 7 and I watched this for the first time, I saw someone getting decapitated and I just thought "this in an odd cartoon..." I WAS kinda scared but I just thought this cartoon was a little different than others?? 💀💀

This show traumatized me as a kid but I find it charming nowadays

Flippy (green bear) is a retired(?) veteran soldier. He has sever PTSD due to his time in a war. These episodes are caused by a sound that'll remind him of the war (like balloon popping, loud booms, etc.) and turn into this aggressive and violent animal known as Fliqpy. I guess like an alter ego. Basically Flippy is changing from a sweet and friendly bear to a menace to society bear. Other than his “flipped-out” States, he's a very kind and sociable bear. I don't know if this makes sense but just something to know about one of the animals and to know later if you ever do more HTF reactions :)

In case they didn’t introduce him with a name in the videos you watched here, the war veteran character is named Flippy. You can, of course, see why in any episodes he’s in, that he is called that.

I watched this show when I was 12 or 13 at the time, I loved HTF and still do, their was even a whole debate if Flaky was a boy or girl, (the voice actress for Flaky said yes she is female in an interview from what I remember) I loved Flippy/Fliqpy and his connection with certain characters. ( I come from a military family, thought they don't go off killing people I've seen what PTSD can do to a person. )

Double Whammy is such a great two parter. I did not expected it to be that good when I first watched it.

Watched this show when I was like 5 or 6 back on Netflix. My older brother showed me as a joke and I was definitely traumatized but immediately hooked/fascinated-especially with Flippy. Now it’s a fond memory and I enjoy seeing reactions like yours lol.

@@blitzlives1023 Children's reactions to things adults think they shouldn't see is often just "well, that happened. Moving on." They just don't care. I guess the point of not showing it to them is to encourage them to see it as bad. It's not that it will traumatise them, it's that it will desensitise them to it.

I've watched Smile HD and I wasn't scared or grossed out by the violence in the animation so because of the Smile HD video, I do not get scared/grossed out by cartoon gore, but since it's cartoon gore, I CANNOT stand real gore, if I just hear someone being stabbed or BrUtAlLy murdered in a live action horror movie or something, idk just cry and feel disgusted by it.

General Guy's name is Flippy, but when he... Well... "flips out," so to speak, he turns into Fliqpy. He was also in the Vietnam War, where is where he got his PTSD.

Fun fact: a while ago when I was younger this was on Netflix in the kids section. I watched it for the first time on there and was traumatized but I was intrigued

Now you have to watch "Operation Tiger Bomb" >:) It shows how Flippy got his PTSD (and/or DID) and how he got his murderous alter ego. Its part of the Ka-pow series, which features certain Happy Tree Friends characters.

I've had nightmares about these guys, they give me the chills

I watched it when I was 10yo because it looked friendly, now i'm 16 and I still love it

This is the kind of show that your babysitter puts on before going to the bathroom with a needle filled with "maple syrup".

Sometimes I feel like you’re that friend that has to endure watching our favorite shows but… we’ll, may I suggest “Helluva Boss”? I think the show has a great balance of violence, comedy and wholesome moments. Specially after the second episode. Or at least the songs, Stolas “you’ll be ok” and his episode 1 season 2 song too, both are beautiful, but episode 6 songs are great and also episode 7 Asmodeus’ song, and we can throw in there “addict” from “Hazbin Hotel” just because.

He's reacted to Hazbin Hotel (As well as Addict and Insane) and the 1st episode of Helluva, not the pilot though, as well as some of the songs

So, to sum it up, Flippy was part of the military, and went through some serious and extreme battles that caused him traumatic and scarring thoughts, thus resulting in PTSD. Whenever Flippy hears something that sounds like gunshots, sirens, or sees something sharp, or experiences something related to his times in the military, he goes absolutely berserk. And about the purple-ish mole in the sunglasses and cane, he is blind, and he is referred to as just "The Mole".

Oh wow, I remember seeing an episode of this when I was like six or seven years old. I was using my older brother’s computer to watch smurfs or something like that when this was recommended. Of course, being the naive child I was, I thought the thumbnail was cute… Long story short it gave me an irrational fear of planks covered in nails attacking me out of nowhere for almost two years straight.

Why did you keep questioning why Lumpy is so dumb and oblivious when they literally show you that he has a tiny brain? lmao Also, yeah, people's favorite is usually Flippy because the PTSD and the badass evil side gives him a lot more depth than any other character have. But my other favorite is Splendid because he is supposed to be a superhero but he is always aciddently causing people's death and failling his job, that gives room for a lot of angst, hehe. And I like the twins racoon thiefs, because they are kind of cute and I pity them. Well, I like most of the characters, probably because they are always dying and suffering, which are things that makes me get very attached to a character. I really love this cartoon, mostly because it's a good base to get creative and come up with more personality for the characters and worldbuilding to write in fics, and the fanbase is pretty fun, you wouldn't believe how much fanart there is of this show.

There's, and I kid you not here, an episode where he guts someone with a *cookie*. And then takes a bite of it, because why not.

My friends showed me this video when I was in 3rd grade and it made me cry so I get flashbacks from the intro it still haunts me.

Ahhh, Happy Tree Friends, what a classic. I first watched them before I even had access to internet, just a PC that still had pentium 4 (which was new back then, btw). Me and my friends just downloaded it from a CD we passed down to each other.

I never watched Happy Tree Friends as a YOUNGER child since I was born in 2012 so I would've been very little to have the internet access and I had watched Smile HD when I was about 6 or 7 and I wasn't disgusted by the gore sooo...

Best person to react I've watched so far; actually has a brain and understands what's going on rather than being like "WAIT WHATTTTTTTTT?!?!! HAAAUHHHH?!?!" all the time.

My younger brother loved this show, and would often refuse to leave me alone until I watched it with him. He’s always been much more nonchalant about gore than me. Suffice to say the thumbnail alone was giving me flashbacks and I watched this like a podcast.
