He became an optics nightmare (associate found dead in a lab within his facility, etc.) so when the opponent's offer was not only generous, but their only stipulation was that the board get rid of Norman, that was a deal too good for them to pass up, especially since they weren't related to him/close to him... the fact that he created the company meant absolutely nothing.

If we go by the canon of the comics, Norman dedicated his life to holding up the company, corrupted his own morals, focused more time on the company more then his family, regretted how much time he neglected them when his wife died and all that effort and sacrifice to have it all be sold out from under him.

I think it was the look on that guy's face near the end when he said "You're out, Norman" that pushed him over the edge and gave him that motivation to kill the board members. Maybe he would have still killed them, but maybe he would have been able to suppress the Goblin if he'd been convinced it was just a business move and they really didn't bear any ill will to him (not that it isn't still fucked). But that guy's demeanor at the end looked almost spiteful, like he enjoyed giving Norman the news that they'd basically destroyed the last however many decades of his life and had no empathy for him at all. When he saw the look on his face, he definitely wanted to kill him specifically

At that level its all ego and petty politics. Needless to say he likely had it coming because he pushed the envelope and the outside powers (Military, Quest Aerospace, and whatever regulating body hampering his human testing) long wanted him gone and not near the pseudo super soldier program. Norman is definitely the type to do whatever he wants regardless of who tells him otherwise including his own son. This may be useful in the early stages of the program because now you have a fall guy incase sh!t goes sideways but its clear Norman was atleast competent enough to not screw up entirely. So they did what dumb complacent rich people do to solve problems, throw money at it and hope it goes away or destroys itself. Without a doubt Norman would have received a very hefty severance pay during the buyout because he had stock in the company aswell. Just not a controlling share. They were banking on his selfishness/greed to outweigh his pride. But the dude was crazy enough to strap himself to the test table and risk his life to get even. Kinda based when you think about it lol.

The fact that the board was still selling out to the rival company even after their main sponsor was killed in an "accident" shows that they're not just primarily motivated by money, but to also twist the knife even further into Norman at any possible opportunity. The fact that one of them gleefully sips some tea while kicking out his boss shows that this is more an act of pettiness than pragmatism.

The point I’m trying to make is to all these people that say “Ohh psychopath because he killed people.” You wouldn’t know what he’s going through because you’ve never lived that life. The older I get, the more I understand and sympathize with what Norman did. When his company was at the height of its career, those who held stock over his company sold his ENTIRE company to a rival company without even consulting with him about it. The least they could’ve done was told him weeks or months before hand instead of a day in advance especially given the fact that it’s his name on the line and not theirs. They’re literally selling his life’s work in front of him and telling him it’s nothing he can do about it. That’s enough to make a man snap

But that's what happens when you take your company public, you lose control, especially if you're not a majority shareholder and so you can be outvoted. While they did sell the company without consulting him, they sold the company at its highest ever valuation. Norman's shares in the company probably went up, so it's not like he walked away with nothing.

This is where all of the Green Goblin’s morals come from. They come from Norman’s own inner feelings of betrayal, anger, disappointment, and greed, in order to create the alternate self that is Green Goblin. Norman did everything to obtain power the right way, so now that that amounted to nothing in the end, what’s stopping Goblin from obtaining it in his own vile way? This is why he tells Spider-Man he shouldn’t bother doing the right thing for others, because he believes it’ll all end up like it did for Norman, with him having nothing but disappointment, loss, and hatred from others. To him, all that really matters in a world of winners and losers… is power.

That doesn't really make since though. Norman mentions Oscorp's stock has never been higher, implying that it is a publicly traded company. Being the founder and CEO, I think it is safe to assume Norman is the majority shareholder of Oscorp. If that is the case, then everyone else can sell their shares to Quest, but that doesn't mean Norman has to. Norman can still be the majority shareholder of Oscorp and have the controlling interest in Oscorp, even if Quest buys everyone else's shares.

Honestly, the older I get, the more I appreciate Norman Osborn's character compared to Otto Octavius. The poor guy has just been screwed in every facet of his life that he develops pessimism that the Goblin takes ahold of. He isn't a clear cut good guy, he is definitely flawed. Norman continually has the door closed on him by his friends, his wife, etc. To the point where he is willing to experiment on himself just to keep any shred of importance he might have. It's truly sad. Otto felt like he was mind controlled but Norman felt like he just needed a hug.

True. Norman is basically pollar opposite of Peter Parker but also shares alot in common with the hero. They are both victims of the harsh and unfair world, with people mistreating them or not recognizing their efforts. The difference is that Peter comes from a working class background and was raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May that thought him to learn and adapt to his disadvantages, while Norman is rich successful businessman who takes pride of his career , refusing to admite failure. He is arrogant while Spider man is humble

That happens a lot. Had that happen to a major family owned company where I lived. In one a guy married the owners daughter. Owner took him into his family, made him president of the company. But the owner was still CEO, so his son in law convinced him to take the company public. He did. Then he sold the company and divorced the exowners daughter and is now one of the richest men in my state. Another company was started by two brothers, one of which wanted the company to himself, he and a cop friend planted drugs in his car and got him arrested. The brother was willing to put the other in jail for life to steal all the wealth for himself but got caught. Him and the officer that helped him both are in jail. There are people out there that are just evil, they don't care who they screw over to better themselves.
