@@rubenp8750 yeah people like to trash talk the 3208 because it’s the perfect definition of a throw away engine but they’re not bad engines really. These old V8 Detroit engines are pretty good engines also, we’ve had one in a F700 for over 25 years that has a steel flatbed and a 5 speed trans. It’s mostly used for pulling the gooseneck trailer and since it’s so small, has air brakes and is a straight five speed it’s likely been borrowed and used for over a hundred CDL drivers tests here in our area haha.

I drove one of those for about 7 years, and never once mashed the heck out of the throttle, as I just never felt the need or desire, simply due to it being a dump truck. The nice guy that I sold it to, knew exactly what it was, and when he was test driving it before buying it, he asked if it was okay if he sets on the throttle to see how it did. HOLY COW, I was blown away, (of course, it was not throwing me in the back seat) but all those years I could have been enjoying it a little bit, or passing folks on the highway, and just never did, as I always assumed it couldn't, heck yeah it could have... I was actually sad to see that unit go. It always ran like a champ, the transmission was solid. The only issues I ever had was the rear axle, but, that is to be expected, due to being a dump truck. I miss that truck, it rode like a log wagon, had no radio, always had a bee or wasp nest being built in or under somewhere..LOL.. but was one reliable unit. At least mine was.

@@paulolson734 haha what do you mean “No”? You do understand what an Opinion is, don’t you? My buddy bought his 79 F250 brand new in ‘78 and only had it for a handful of years before getting rid of the actual boat anchor “351M” and fitting in a brand new N/A 3208 mated with the original 4spd and transfer case. Ever since they put that engine in other than regular Maintenance the only thing he’s ever had to replace was the injector pump, and even with the bad pump it was still running great but had a loud knock that was aggravating going down the road. It’s been the perfect farm truck and is still running 100% perfect to this day. We’ve had two single axle dump trucks and one flatbed truck with 3208’s and they’ve all been pretty good engines, in the past 40 years I’ve had more than enough experience with the 3208 and the 3146 both to know that they can be damn good engines. Now I’m. It saying they’re perfect and I fully understand they’re throw away engines but my experience comes from the perspective of someone who uses them and takes care of them so I know what they can be. After some rocker structure starts to go back into them you have to measure and pull parts into alignment. We get the door gaps dialed in and then a brace from the pillars to the rear frame / seat pan area. Always enjoy the video's looking forward to the next video hoping some day to get to my 67 400 convertible.
