You HAVE to see this ZONED Daikin 5 TON "Fit" A/C and Modulating Furnace, it is so EPIC!!!

I am going to take you on a magic walk-thru of a system we just did that has all the fixings.
Daikin 5 TON "FIT" Modulating Air Conditioner, Daikin Modulation HE Gas Furnace, Honeywell EAC, Rheme Halo LED, Honeywell and EWC Zoning. PLUS, a lonely water heater, lol.
Before I forget, here is a video of the crawlspace: • CRAWL SPACE (I describe the "whys" of what is going on down there)

    I love that you said 3 ton is the most common size and you don’t often come across 5 ton houses. However 80% of Hvac contractors would absolutely disagree and out in a 5 ton where that 3 ton should have gone! Then they blame the manufacturer and say the equipment is crap. Keep up the good work sir!

    Modern systems have variable refrigerant flow, variable blowers, and variable gas flow. Oversizing isn't as much of an issue as it used to be.

    @Egleu1, it absolutely still is an issue on ducted systems. Especially with these modern communicating systems. The manufacturers are sick and tired of warranting expensive variable speed blowers due to oversizing furnaces and air handlers that they now program their units to start faulting out when the static pressure is too high. I see it all the time. Older systems work better when oversized because they didn’t have the safeties that these newer units have

    I replaced my system in my house around 2 months ago. I’ve had two new systems in the past 6-7 years. One w as a comfort maker and the other was rudd. The comfortmaker compressor failed within 4 years. Some people may like rudd because of the price but I was never happy with it. It struggled to keep my house cool and it went bad quicker than the comfortmaker. I will say the guy I was using wasn’t worth a damn and that could of been the problem. I went with a new company and they carry carrier and daikin. I was originally going to go with the carrier but the company informed me that Daikin had a better warranty and it would save me a few dollars. They recommended a 3 ton unit but I was boarder line between the 3 and the 3.5 ton in my area. I decided to go with the 3.5 ton because I like my house at 69 degrees. It was right at $14,000 for the system, but I did add a humidifier for the winter which was like a $850-$900 option. I can already tell a difference in my house and my bill has been quite a bit cheaper. So far it was a great investment and was worth the money.

    Does the Fit's compressor still modulate its speed without the communicating thermostat? I see they do communicate with the coil and furnace, but not sure if that does anything in cooling mode. These look really nice and quiet!

    Question......on these systems once installed. Can the capacity be limited to where it will not run below say 18,000 btu on a 2.5 ton system. I ask this because I see they modulate down to 20-25%. Our ducts are in the attic in summer it seems the lower than the I mentioned it would just be blowing warmer air or ambient.

  • @TheDiskinsDoEverything

    @TheDiskinsDoEverything

    Dirt, modulating is not for every house, but you can lock the cooling in on high over a certain outdoor temp, so, say that line is at 85 outside, then you can have what is High Cool Lock at 85.

    Which Daikin coil and furnace did you pair the Fit with? I was told by my HVAC contractor that Daikin Fits can’t be combined with a furnace when the Fit is over 3 tons since there is no AHRI matchup available above 3 tons yet. Is this correct?

    To confirm, is it still possible to use a Daikin Fit A/C without having to use the Daikin ONE+ thermostat? I love these Daikin air conditioners but I really don't want to give up my Ecobee thermostat and the 4 x Ecobee wireless temperature sensors I have scattered throughout the home. They've made a huge difference when it comes to evening out the temperature at home.

    Since this is a modulating system, curious why it still need a bypass damper? Shouldn't it modulate down if only the small zone is calling?

  • @TheDiskinsDoEverything

    @TheDiskinsDoEverything

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes and No. systems do modulate down, but they often start to high or end the call suddenly, so the bypass takes the extra and keeps the zone from either coming on too strong at the start or if both are on and one closes, then the bypass takes the extra flow while the system calms down otherwise the zone that is left on has a few moments of turbo airflow. Even communicating zoning systems, that say they don’t need them, need them. This can also be done with a “dump zone”.
