facing your children is the hardest thing in the world. My sons would tell me how ridiculous I would act the prior evening and how I would argue and repeat myself over and over again. I have 6 months under my belt and I hope I never go back to that life. My kids are so proud of me and we love spending time together, sober.

As a former alcoholic for 2 years I can say 99% of addicts lie to cover the shame and in denial ourselves. I feel bad for all parties involved I know the havoc I brought to my family was devasting. My parents up all night never knowing if I’d get home alive. Glad to say I’m 3 years clean now

The way she looked down and said no to when he asked if she drank there, she did. That's a mix of shame and hope that they wont look at you in the eyes. I did it when I was trying to hide drinking. My body let everyone know eventually though.

I would like to know why her family took her to margaritaville while on a trip to be on Dr. Phil to address her drinking problem… am I the only one???

I remember saying this to my mother on her deathbed, even after she'd been told her organs were failing as a result of her alcoholism, and that she was going to die probably at some point during the night (the doctor said to me "if she sees the sunrise I'll be very surprised") she still denied it. She did see the sunrise, she died just as it came up.

I am sorry to hear that my mom is on the same path and as of right now She is falling multiple times and has fractured her arm and hips and can't even use the Bathroom

@@TheSlashSlingingSlasher The reality is that can't make her do anything. She has to want to do it for herself. If you try and force her she'll behave like a petulant child (she probably already has with lies and denials). To have any chance at recovery she's going to have to face, accept, and deal with the reason(s) why she's drinking. Have you tried an intervention?

That feels close home lmao... The many times I tried to act completely sober while buzzed in front of my parents (but I never drank THAT much tho) never had withdrawals or whatever the heck, and didn't even drink everyday just every Saturday, but I would chug a bottle of wine like it's water but leave it half full for the next Saturday... Then it progressed to literally putting myself below the wine box in the kitchen while no one was looking to drink some gulps, not caring if it's sour or not, additionally the taste stopped being that important to me, tho it still mattered ( I never turned to hard spirits tho) then there was one day when my mom had a fever cuz of a cold and was laying in the living room and I was literally standing next to her with my big glass full of a yellow think which she mistaken for orange juice... I'm still not proud at all of the many times I drank without my parents knowing, just to get tipsy cuz it made me feel good. But one morning I woke up and got scared. The first thing I thought about was booze, not breakfast, not tea as well (me being a big tea addict for years) it was booze. This was what rang a bell and made me stop. Although my parents are normal, I have a lit of alcoholics in my family, among cousins, my aunt and uncles... I guess this could explain it, I understood that I needed to be more careful, stay away from it cuz I can get hooked very easily. Now I haven't drank in 10 months, the last time I drank was on 2023 New Year eve and Christmas! Tomorrow I will have a drink with my family cuz it's Easter dinner but that's it. I stick back to tea, and drink only on occasions now. Way more secure 😁
