That definitely is a good looking tank!!! I bet it was expensive..... “you get what you pay for” is correct. Another saying comes to mind that is also true.... “You wanna play, you gotta pay!” 💸💸💸💸💸🤣

True , and at least when I get a wifg of gas. I won't be worried its leaking in the hull. I really believe had I taken it out one more time the center would have totally split up open . thanks Chris and happy Friday!!!

Nice tig welding. A protective coating on that tank will help. A good two part epoxy or even a pitch based coating. Read up on marine aluminum resistance to corrosion. I know this is an old thread but it could help someone else.

Thanks, Jay. I appreciate the input unfortunately I already installed it... And it was a pain in the butt. I guess as a consolation. This one is at least twice as thick of material is the original one

I'm gonna call the manufacturer that I had make this for me. There was actually like a film on the tank everywhere. I thought it was just maybe what they wiped it down with. I wonder if maybe they put some sort of coating on the tank.

I wish I could send you pictures of the setup now. The dual fuel ports on the tank really are nice. I have a new kicker motor now tied into it

Thanks Hollis , had to bite the bullet. I would have never stopped worrying about the repaired one. I feel bad about the guy. he worked really hard. Happy Friday !!!

New tank looks great! I hope you're able to get it installed and get some boat in yet this Fall. I'm getting ready to put mine away for the year. Only got mine on the water twice this year. I'm gonna try real hard to get more use out of it next year.

In all fairness it's tough working with old metal.. especially aluminum. New one looks great. I put a bunch of money in my bass boat last year and never even got it on the water this year.. Too much going on.

Thanks for sharing, Steve. There's clearly a need to check that out when I buy my future boat. I'm wondering if other manufacturers have the same potential issue? It would be good to inspect that possibility with every boat I consider purchasing, unless I buy new.

Absolutely! Have an expert inspect the Boat , even if its 500 bucks , my situation is a bit different as I was fir the most part gifted the boat .The fuel tank is very important and probably overlooked as it woukd ve near impossible to look at the underside

My takeway , if the boat smells strongly of fuel , there is reason and should be immediately address. I had ignored the signs and could have been catastrophic......

Also when the fuel cell was totally built new I have them put baffels and 2 bungs in so my kicker motor taps right in now

Lastly, confidence and trust now in the fuel system not only addressed safety but now we enjoy the boat far more.

As a new boat owner (me) got me up any time I have several lessons learned I can share .

No way I would trust that. It's a fuel tank.... pretty simple. You buy a brand new one!!!!!!!!! New one looks amazing:-)
