Hi I have lived on the Island of Mallorca for 36 years, my husband is from here. The traffic in the South west is crazy. Everything Alex is saying is true. Keep up the good work, people shouldn't be so rude when you're only trying to advise them They're probably the same people that come over and complain about everything

As outsiders living in the Tramuntana area for 18 yrs, I gotta say you hit the nail on the head. Also I don't want to lose our beautiful island to over-tourism. speculators, the spoiled and greedy like Ibiza has been. We need to strike a balance now or we're toast.

Not coming over until early October but thank you for your great work, it is very much appreciated.

Justback from another holiday, our 15th visit to the beautiful island, however our experience this year entering was chaos. Informed luggage would be arriving on carousel 7, actually arrived some 45 minutes later on 11 without notice. 2 hours to complete the hire car without explanation and this was late evening. No problems on departure. We noted there was much more traffic on the roads - we were staying near Soller. A visit to Palma by train but the city was heaving. I can fully understand the sentiments of residents, even the mountain roads were busy from polllenca. Never the less, back next year! Keep up the good work

Hey Alex from two immigrants in Mallorca, for nearly 20 years. We understand and appreciate the work that you do. Although we have some differences in perspective we agree on trying to strike the right balance between the residents of this island and the visitors. You have explained these things extremely well without meanness but some people don't want to understand and never will. To the people who say " Don't tell me what to do or I'm not coming" I say fine, stay home. Is it too much to ask for little courtesy, understanding and fair play? Keep up the good work and stay healthy.

Ive rented vehicles in Mallorca and used the bus system. Honestly, driving is convenient but you have the headache of parking at the hotel and at uour destination. The buses are great - they're regular, air conditioned, and the tap-on-tap-off system is so easy to use!! They might not drop you at the pinpoint of where you want to go, but a short walk never hurt anyone, and you be amazed sometimes, what undiscovered delights are between that bus stop and where you want to go!!

just got back from a week over there with a hire car, stayed in Port de Alcudia, drove to Cala Sant Vincenc, Pollenca / Port de Pollenca, and to the east around Porto Cristo to see the caves. the only place I saw traffic was around Manacor other than that there was nothing. now I feel that I was lucky up in the north of the Island and it's probably getting busier as we progress into the summer, I'm sure the south west is bad as it's so popular. But my experience was a breeze compared to my M3/M25 commutes. We seen some very big queues for buses, especially in Alcudia old town during the market. Love your videos, I think your views and advice is valuable to both tourists and locals.

Hi Alex. I came to cala millor last 20th of June for 2 weeks and I hired a Car just for two days ( Wednesday and Thursday with trip cars)specially for Catch the nice sunset. My experience was good because we didn't go to busy areas as you've explained in your last videos. We went to soller port ( Mirador Santa Catalina)to see the sunset and it was a nice experience. ( Unfortunately it was a cloudy day😢)We also went to alcudia and also alcudia beach side it was a quite busy area . Hiring a car during the vacation is not something we do regularly, here we wanted to get that experience also and we are happy about that. That's my experience here in Cala millor. We hired a car for 6/27 to 7/7, however, we were staying in Sineu and focused many of our touring activities to hidden places. We did do a Segway tour around Palma and we took the train from Sineu to the Intermodal, while longer than driving, it was actually quite nice to sit back and let someone else do the driving. We also took a catamaran tour from Palma and on our way to the departure point really hit a lot of traffic on the road by the marina. If there was a way to tak the train there and back, we would have done so. I think our car hire situation was good, because we were not staying in any of the usual resort areas.

The transport network definitely need to put on extra busses in the season. Perhaps even direct sightseeing busses that go directly to the key places. This would free up the regular busses for the locals. We went to palma nova last year and the busses going to palma / sollet were a nightmare. I totally understand why the residents would be angry.

First I want to say Alex you’re doing a great job and I really appreciate your updates on Mallorca. I’ve just returned from a two week break in Port Pollensa which I’ve been going to since 2007 and have always loved our stay and we have made local friends that we always catch up with when we’re there. However, this year was sadly different. I could not believe the failure to provide tourists with basic beach facilities. I know and as you mentioned before we went that there were contractual issues regarding sun beds. But you would think as tourism is the major income in Port Pollensa that they would at least provide us with opening the toilets on the beach. This also upset the locals as they did not want us to think that we were not welcome. I don’t want to sound snobby, but Port Pollensa is one of the most expensive parts on Mallorca and is mostly visited by the let’s say more experienced people in life. Port Pollensa has unfortunately really let it self down. Was not a good look. Really sad for the locals.

There was a line of at least 50 people trying to catch a taxi in Palma today 😂 it’s mental. I’ve never seen it this busy and I’m planning my escape this summer. No one wants to deal with this madness.

I completely understand the comments re: mass tourism overtaking the island - we visited at the end of April this year (yes, we hired a car because we love to visit all the beautiful towns and calas and, of course we found no problem with traffic congestion at this time of the year). However, I do feel that a great deal of the problem could easily be addressed by the relevant authorities on the island. We stayed in Palma town for a few days and found it completely overrun with cruise ship visitors (don’t blame them - of course they want to look around this beautiful island!). Every day there were at least 2 ENORMOUS cruise ships docked- spilling literally thousands of tourists into the town. And, I’m convinced that the whole refurbishment of the Paseo Maritimo is all keyed towards the cruise ship visitor experience. I accept that these tpurists are also seen as relatively ‘big spenders’ and so the boost to the local economy is probably quite significant, but if Mallorca prioritises this kind of tourism, as they seem to be, then they definitely will be changing the island’s image - but not necessarily for the better. What will become of the smaller resorts and towns that rely on regular holidaymakers who may feel that their ‘meagre’ input to the economy is no longer welcome?!

Ppl from cruises don't really spend anything. Maybe buy a small souvenir, but that's about it. They're definitely looking into reducing the number of cruises that stop at palma as one of the new measures.

It’s always that “ me, myself and I” attitude of rude tourists …not even extending common courtesy to a local needing to get to work on time v their whole day of leisure, which waiting a bit for the next bus won’t affect it to any degree, which understandably irritates locals anywhere. As for cars, some places like the mountain villages or way out places you really need one, but not for popping into Palma or into the next resort.

With regards to traffic, again, it´s the govt that needs to sort it out! I used to take the 3 bus (from Palma to Sant Agustin) which got changed to the 4 and it was always packed. Not only that, there were often elderly and/or handicapped people that had no seats as the buses have very few seats designated for the elderly or handicapped and many of the seats are on a raised platform (for absolutely no reason). In fact, the EMT buses really don´t have that many seats. Often, people look the other way and don´t even offer their seat to an obviously frail and elderly person and I am talking about locals looking the other way, not tourists! I´ve seen it many times. Pain Points: yes, they exist and affect the lives of locals, BUT these are not the problem of tourists (imho) Tourists are visitors and are essentially guests. Yes, occasionally some misbehave, but most don´t and are usually quite respectful, at least in my experience of having lived on the island for six years. The thing is, if I was invited to someone´s house as a visitor/staying guest and then just before I arrived, they said, it´s fine that you´re coming, but please don´t wear orange while you are here because it gives me a headache (this is actually true because I can´t stand orange and wish I could tell people not to wear it) or go in my private living room as that is off-limits and please only watch TV in the other living room and only between 2-4 or whatever, ie basically various restrictions, I would cancel my visit! In my opinion, these are all critical issues (or as you call them, pain points) that have to be dealt with my the govt in addition to providing better and more roads/routes for people to get to and from the main spots on the island and are not something for tourists to be doing something about. Yes, ofcourse we should all be mindful and help where we can, where local or tourist, but these problems have to be addressed by the govt of Mallorca. OMG yes, the toilets in the airport were dire (not clean at all) when I arrived in Mallorca in early June. Airport was absolutely packed and felt more like it was mid-July.

The thing about respectful tourists depends a good bit on the area and time of year. "Normal" ppl know not to do certain things, but some lose all common sense once they're on holiday or have had a bevvie or two...

Hi Alex agree re beaches even beginning of may these instagram beaches are busy. If I were comming in the summer it would have to be the larger beaches to get some space. Palma airport has a water problem had no water for 3 hours whilst on the way back. Very nice flight attendant got me some as soon as I was in the plane. We hired a car this time as out of season went to playa de palma for meal before catching a flight back took an hr to find 1 space in May.

Your videos are ALWAYS good and informative. Keep doing them exactly as you have been doing. There will always be those who misunderstand what you say. Now, however, I have a question regarding the amount of tourists on the island. Do you think there will be as many people on the island in the middle and end of September as it is in the summer? Do you think it will be easier to take a bus if you have to go somewhere? My son and I are going on September 18th and he has never been there, while I have been there a lot. I want to try to show him a bit of this wonderful island. We won't have time to see the whole island unfortunately, but I will do my best to make him love the island as much as I do.

It needs to be warm and dry in England as the weather has a lot to make up for with hardly one rain free day since July 2023 began.... basically 11 and a half months without a dry day .I have never known anything like it as usually you get settled periods between wet periods.

The people making these comments need to have a word with themselves. Do they not know what recommendation or advice looks/sounds like? I know people who live in Mallorca who have said the roads have been terrible this year. No one is telling you not to do anything. It's just some advice from a local. If a country wants to preserve its beauty then it can. Sometimes the minority spoil it for the majority and we all suffer. We've seen this in places like Italy when tourist don't respect historical buildings, fountains etc and they've caused damage that can never be fixed. These beaches are no different. They're hidden gems and want them to remain 'hidden' for as long as possible.

One significant fact that I think is worth mentioning is the EXTREMELY long walk to get to Terminal A and the gates where majority of flights to GB are leaving from. For elderly passengers who don't fall into the Disabled Assistance category, it is a real marathon. Also please mention that time has to taken into consideration for this.

The airport is being remodelled (some areas anyway) I found the walk a LOT shorter last time I was in it. But a lot of it has to do with the company you're flying with.

Always love your videos. I would much rather have truthful advice. Being aware of the effects tourism is having on local people and acting respectfully can only be a good thing. The comment you read stating 'the world is for everyone and belongs to no one.' I wonder how you'd feel dealing with these issues day in, day out when work, school pick ups etc. are thrown in the mix.
