"You Can't Drift a 300zx."
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is 300zx is my drift project... This video is to show you some of the challenges I face drifting my 300zx, and some of the inherent flaws. The 2+0 N/A is front heavy, has a short wheel base, and the rear subframes often need tons of work (wheel hop). This DOESN'T mean you can't drift it, in fact I love the quirky characteristics of the car, and I like the challenge. I'm excited to learn more about the car, how to drift it, and build it into capable drift car. I love hearing all of your guys' comments and experience! Thanks for Watching!

drifting on 17 with stockish suspension will be hard no matter what car you drive, also you will end up breaking weakpoints because of this.

I agree, the 17s don’t make the awkward gear ratio any better either. Stock 300zx wheels would work way better as drift spares.

Get a welded diff so you dont deal with old worn out stock lsd problems opening on you, bucket seat will help you be in better control and not yeet the car into a ditch, and better suspension will get rid of that body roll/make car movements more predictable. A lot of your issue is banana handing the wheel and not enough experience driving (we all start here). Start messing with tires pressures now and make it a habit. Keep at it dude! Cheers! ✌️

@@natezgreat yeah, some chassis stiffening will go a long ways with this car. My brother had a 98 z32 NA and that car was a soft floaty boat. After he stiffened the chassis, upgraded his suspension and welded his diff it became a much more capable vehicle. Still didn't stop me from drifting circles around him in my 1990 S10 square body.
The head phone mount is so funny 😂😂, nice 300zx I always wondered if these were good drift cars
dude what, i watched this video and fully expected this to be a 300k+ channel. keep it up bro
i have a 92' twin turbo, upgraded ecu and rebuilt engine but its on coils, that change made the world of difference for mine. just clutch kick and the whole cars spinning out. great video, got my sub
I slide my 2+0 300zx TT around on occasion at a track. I'm far from being a expert, but some things I have learned is getting a good suspension setup like a powertrix full adjustable setup helps alot. When you get aftermarket tension arms you can adjust the caster to get a little more wheelbase. It helps keep the cars weight settled through the slide. Also, either welding he diff, or replacing the stock viscus diff if its slipping will also settle your car a bit more.

Nice! Having the car be more predictable would be a BIG upgrade. If I’ve learned anything from reading the comments, it’s that I need to overhaul this suspension.

@@natezgreat depends on the 240 we are talking about. the 300zx rear subframe is always going to be wider than any 240 by about 2 inches. The r33 GTR has the same rear subframe as a 300ZX TT. Sick slick top yo. Probably gonna need some coilovers though and I think rear subframe collars/spacers can help with wheel hop somewhat. Still, I think it's the short wheelbase of these cars that make it real snappy and harder to get sideways consistently.

I grew up with one of these living on dirt roads and while it does lack power it slid very well. Right before I sold mine I remember drifting it around a huge overpass at 115 mph in 4th. Please don't take this the wrong way but yours kinda sounds like it's running like doo doo. I'd definitely check those vacuum lines out if that's what you think it is. Pro tip for the clutch replacements since you'll probably burn through them like me...use a swivel joint on the socket and about 36" of extensions to get the top transmission bolts.

Z32 Slicktop’s are super easy to drift. I’m unsure how you’re having issues with it. You need to be more aggressive with the swinging out of the rear and then let the tires do the rest.

I use to slide my na Z no problem. U need stiff coilovers/good suspension and lite wheels.
in case it helps, my old stock '91 2+2 was way better than my full suspension '96 slicktop 2+0. The wheelbase really really helped. the diff is VLSD, and the locking properties change with age and temp. it looks like it wasn't able to lock very well, causing unpredictable initiation.
