You still need a creative vision and a general understanding for what you're doing if you want to create art with it. At the end of the day, it's nothing but a tool that allows you to create art even if you don't have to skill to fully create it yourself. Now, all you need is the vision for it, so only the bad and mediocre artists have to fear for their jobs. But the good ones? They'll be able to continue as usual, just as the good carpenters can in an age where Ikea and mass production of furniture exist. Also, even if this would put an end for artist being a viable carreer - so what? Tons of jobs throughout history have ceased being viable as demand changes and technology advances. Why should artists be exempt from that? If they are obsolet, they'll have to find a new occupation. Demanding for technological advancement to stop just so you can keep your job is both pathetic and selfish. And either way, it's not like anyone is taking art aways from them. They can still follow their passion as a hobby.

I think it could be great for artists. Like take me for example. I’m writing a book. If everything in the future is AI generated, people will pay more for an “authentic” book. Like how people pay more for Amish stuff.
My dad was telling me about this earlier. He was talking about how AI could do so many incredible things and I quote, “By the time you die, an AI will likely be able to do anything you can to better.” It’s why he wants me to get into programming, the world is progressing faster than it’s willing to change. By the time it’s time for me to join the workforce there’d be far less demand for art from creative people due to AI being able to do it for free or far cheaper. He, [my dad] was talking about how eventually we’d have to rebuild the economy from the ground up due to the fact AI can do everything and there’d be no reason to hire people. So we’d either have to figure out a new system of life, or it will be like the library of Alexandria, We’ll burn it all to the ground. I feel like the only reason your not pissed right now is because currently, this doesn’t affect you. Art isn’t a god given gift, nor is video production. It’s a learned skill you hone. I bet you wouldn’t be fond of some rando shoved your videos into an AI and posted them publicly, gaining fame and constantly having a chance of overshadowing you. You can suffer from burnout, an AI can’t. So yeah, just because you can’t stop innovation; it doesn’t mean I have to like it.

I hate this so much. Some of the beauty of art is that it was created by a human, but now, no one even has to TRY! The magic of creativity will mean nothing as soon as this gets more popular, the skills of writers and painters and musicians will be lost! No one will care anymore and creators will be stuck comparing themselves to stuff made by a computer! It's fun to mess with, yes, but soon enough in one will care about the artists of the world because people cam just type a few words and BAM! They have something that may have taken someone real weeks to do. What will be the point of learning to draw when you can just tell an AI to do it for you? Some of the beauty of art is the humanity. The relatable characters, the hidden meanings that an AI can't produce because an AI is not a person. A writer's power is their empathy. Computers have no empathy, they're just machines programmed to complete a task. A computer cannot *fake* empathy either. Something written by an AI won't stick, it'll just be forgettable. And, in my opinion, those are the worst stories. Music is similar. At lot of music relates to people on a personal level, and AI cannot mimic experiences. Sometimes the music will just click with a person, and maybe one day they'll be able to meet the artist in person at a concert or some other event. AI cannot inspire. You can't meet an AI. You can say, "Woah! This person's really talented!" only to learn that it was made by a faux consciousness. That's no one to look up to. Artists had to work for their skills. AI doesn't. The one thing that AI cannot mimic is humanity. Let's keep it that way.

"Someone could have an idea for a creative novel but they don't have the skills to write it, now they don't need to" You don't just get the skill to write in your DNA, you have to practice and perfect it. I remember when I had this great idea to write a novel. I knew my writing was crappy but I still wrote. Now I am much better writer than I was when I started. I still cringe at my earlier pieces but I was only able to *gain* this skill by doing it myself, not sitting around lazily and wait for some programme to do it for me. Writers are given such little credit these days, but it's only when others sit down to create literal worlds out of just their imagination do they realise how hard it really is.

Writing is so immensely complex there is no possible way in our lifetime an AI could create anything even considered well written. Everything from plot holes to dialogue to writing good characters and worlds along with word choice and the authors unique point of view on the world, can not (at least within our lifetime) be written by AI. All of this comes from time and skill. There is no amount of books or novels you can force read to an AI to make it understand and generate those things that make a story truly good.
When digital art was becoming mainstream, as a traditional artist I was extremely annoyed because "It does all the work for you!" But I didn't realize that it still takes a lot of skill to do digital art and the effect is usually cleaner. Now I primarily do digital art and I like it a lot. It'll take time to adapt to new technologies, but people will always appreciate true human skill too.
The problem with artistic ai is that the source it uses to generate that art is stolen from actual artists.
We basically can't stop the flow of time in any way possible... still can't fathom that
It's true digital art is art, but it still unfair to compete AI art with handmade art
being an artist is not a gift it's a skill you learn it needs time and practice to be good at it the only gift is how fast you learn it
As an artist myself, the thing with art is the fact that u have to go through years of hard work/practice, I don't consider this art, the guy just took the easy route without any hard work and practice, and believe me there is no such thing as "gifted artist" even the most natural artist went through years of practice, if you compare my first art pieces from my first sketch and my current art pieces u would not think that it was made by the same person. art isn't just about creativity, it's also about the skill/hard work.
"Blessed?" Nah that shot takes practice
Art is a skill you learn by doing, not something you're born with. You don't get blessed with it, you practice it till you get good.
For most of these AIs that make art, they literally steal works from current artists to fuel their data. Without. Permission. You can literally input an artists name and half of the AI’s would take that artists work, analyze it, and copy it. These AI’s would be nothing without current artists. Not only that, but art is about expression, and finding ways to express your experiences / moods / thoughts. That’s what makes art uniquely a human thing. In writing this is particularly evident in the specifics, like word choice. By using an AI you make art a hollow thing. Art is not just making pretty images, and I suspect the rest of the world will come to understand that very, very soon.
If you want to write a book, then have an AI write it for you, it's not your book.

It will eventually learn your style and will master it,but you can still enjoy the time in which your style is yours and yours only to the fullest extent. Make the most of it before it is taken from you.

Leading to your attitude and these AI artists. Because y’all already gave up before dedicating more time to it.
Some people may want to be an artist, but never actually spent time practicing, now they dont ever have to, and still get paid like an artist who has decipline and dedication 💀
Man, I'm HERE for all the frequent content!
Have you done a video on the Tuvalu situation? If not- you should.
There’s already a fairly decent ai software that creates images through discord if you want where you give a print and get 4 low quality photos and choose one to improve quality and even slightly alter it with other prompts, but its main weakness is it can’t handle multiple subjects and merges them into one
Actually, whats going to matter is discerning human vs AI. Even harder... human vs AI assisted!
An artist isn't just "blessed with that gift" you work hard for it, i've been drawing since i could pick up a pencil just to get to where i am now. I HATE it so damn much when people say that it's a gift "given to you by god" or some sht, like, god didnt give my crap i worked my ass off for this. God didnt sit down and program my hands to be able to draw. NO i taught my own hands how to do what i want them to.
“Blessed with that gift” Sigh *opens comments*
i always thought of myself as non artistic and not creative, but i started taking art classes and started to get really good! i’m still more type A and feel like i’m not the most creative person, but it’s getting easier, and while some people are naturally drawn to art and it comes easier to them, no one is born a perfect artist. it takes time, practice and commitment
Creativity is part of how we as individuals challenge what it means to be a part of reality. Art will always be a necessity to our culture, man-made art.
I personally am torn on AI art. While I’m glad that so many people can create now, I am worried that my worth as an artist will begin to fade since work like mine can be so easily created in just a few minutes.

You have to remember that AI doesn’t just look at your prompt and know immediately what to generate, it takes already existing things and shoves it into a meat grinder, including art. These AIs steal existing artists work that are relevant to the prompt in order to generate the image. The AI doesn’t magically have decades worth of talent, it steals talented artists work, mashes them together and goes “Technically *I* made this”

@@snek723 I'm just jealous that it's better at art than I am lol
Ngl if I can get ai to write stories catered to my tastes I'd be into it like finding a book I want to read is a challenge
It's like internet killing letters and telegrams. They are not dead, but people would much rather use the internet to communicate than a letter or a telegram
I don't see the problem, it's not stopping human content creation, just giving everyone the ability to tailor the content they get to their exact preferences. As for human artists income ok, that's what UBI will inevitably be for, otherwise they can get a job and create art on the side or cater to the niche market that wants human made content
Yo the poor dog got possessed
Ayo can I get a link to one of those essay writers? For research purposes of course…
If only that German guy back in the day had access to ai art generators
AI art is cool and all, but true art has a meaning behind every piece, it shows your journey of becoming an artist. That’s why I think replacing traditional art with AI is a very bad idea. Also, AI art doesn’t take much effort at all, traditional art takes years to perfect and to find your art style! And I’m not saying that you can’t use AI to create art, but to replace traditional art with it is a big no. this is just my point of view, I will not be arguing about this

AI generated music is also a thing it can even replicate specific styles or artists "too for artists" my ass its a straight up replacement
Imagine spending *years* if not *decades* working on your skills, building them up from zero, either just barely receiving minimum wage (or less than minimum wage even) or spending an unholy amount of hours each week *beyond* your assigned workhours, just for an AI to take over your workmarket by *stealing and repurposing your already existing art* and probably also infringing *copyright.* Nobody's born an artist and *being* an artist is already bad enough as it is. People taking the shortcut by profiting off of our work is downright insulting.
In my opinion, as an artist, I just don't like it when people dismiss art skills as "a gift". Sure, some people improve vastly faster or slower than others, but no matter how fast you improve, it still takes TIME and DEDICATION. Dismissing art skills like a blessing from Apollo can dismiss an artist's years or decades of practice.
Seeing people get angry at ai art, I just think people are just jealous that a computer program could do better than them. if these people don't want that, people must become better at what they do. becoming irreplaceable
The problem is that it's not a tool like chatgpt. It's an end-to-end solution, which freaks artists out (don't blame em)
Ceramics are gonna explode in popularity
Art isn’t a gift your born with. It’s a skill that takes a lot of practice. I hate to correct you I just really hate when people say that
heres the thing, im an artist and the idea of ai creating the majority of all creative media is terrifying. i want to make a living out of my art and if someone who doesnt have any skill or someone who isn’t actually even a person can make art at my skill level or higher in seconds when it takes me hours or days to turn out one piece, there wont be room for real artists. it just isnt fair. i could care less if someone who „wasnt born with the gift“ is sad about it, its called practice, ive put thirteen years into MY gift and i like ai art, its cool, but i dont want the „gift“ that i actually put time and effort into to be stripped away by ones and zeroes man. i just dont
There have been some possible exceptions, most notably Da Vinci and Picasso. Both were doing remarkable work during their childhood's. Picasso's father actually did teach him everything he could, but when Pablo was about 11yo his father left his artistry profession, having yielded to a true master. Da Vinci was a true genius and mastered several fields. Their abilities of 'perception' were both unique and adaptive. I believe we'll now see more of that happening due to advancements in learning.
If you wish to paint paint there is one thing AI can not replicate in its perfection, it can not recreate human error. The one thing that makes all are worth while.
Technology will change art for sure.
no artist was born with the gift to be able to make art, we do it from years and years of practice. Some of us might be able to observe or imagine better but it still takes skill, effort, passion and hard work to actually be able to make good art. Many artists might not even start from young and maybe somewhere later on in their life and still make wonderful art because of hard work. Art welcomes anyone to create at any point of your life, it’s never too late. The entry point is literally for anyone.
"Whether you love it or hate it you can't stop it" Yep basically all of A.I
"Whether you love it or hate it, you cannot stop it." I loved this line because it stays tru in many aspects of life.

gross mindset to have in the midst of stealing and plagiarizing. ai "art" is just stolen art from artists all mushed together without any regard to the hard work and integrity of the artists. who have worked years to become skilled at their work, because art or literally anything is never A TALENT. you aren't automatically good at ANYTHING until you learn, and only the people that work hard enough get good. and "ai artists" are just talentless scum who steal real art and use an ai, somehow calling that their own hardwork. yeah sure things happen but it won't stop people from backlash it's if something morally wrong and disgusting. nice how life works that way lmao.
As an artist I'd like to say that AI art is not real art, it uses others art in order to mish mash it into a different thing.
I think it's gonna be like when the camera was invented
Here’s a thought pissy commenters. If an artist can’t contest with this new wave of creative innovations, why would we call them artists? Art is a gift, a talent, it clicks with some and doesn’t for others. If you can’t keep up then get left in the dust.
Art is a skill not a gift. Artists spend a lot of time to learn the skills they have.
It takes years, and sometimes even decades to learn to draw well. I guess I was just “gifted” with putting in effort to improve my art. I suppose I was “blessed” with desperately wanting some sort of financial security, and actually attempting to develop a skill instead of using all of the effort it would take to make a computer to do a commission for somebody like you to give me the same appreciation. I’m not afraid that this technology will take my job. It would need to be sentient to be a threat. Literally every artist on earth that has their content on the internet has had their content sampled(and almost all of them them without consent), so yeah it’s totally “Not good, or bad.”.
I actually think its a really cool, but in competitions it should be its own catagorie yk. It still takes a human to pick out the art and actually submit it
This has happened before. Photographs made representative art by humans too easy, so abstract and non-representative (unskilled) art popular. I also remember a 1960s SF story where the main character prayed “LORD, give me the strength to let my children starve”, because the Writing Machine Company were paying writers to lend their names to the Company, provided that those authors never write again.
Welp, there goes my dreams of being an artist
AI art isn't inherently bad for artists, however, the way it's being marketed and used IS. At the moment people are often marketing it as a way to replace us, and remove another human (who needs to be compensated) from the creation process.
Art is not a gift, it is a skill. One that you can learn. I'm not even an artist, and i know this. Besides, we all know that companies are going to use generative AI to replace traditional artists, which is bad.
If this was arounf during the 30s and 40s then a lot of lives would have been saved
Art is a gift just like intelligence.
Imagine copy pasting an entire novel into an ai and just like that, you now have a full 100% book to movie adaptation
Thanks, I've lost a bit of my drive to practice and refine my art because apparently I just don't have that gift.
AI generated "art" did one thing good for the art community. Traditional artists used to bash on digital art saying it wasn't art, now that AI "art" exists they both came to the agreement that AI "art" isn't Art because it took zero creative ability to make it. Other than that AI generated art is a spit to the face to anyone who took years to master their craft.
It’s bit scary but the beauty in seeing how much art is evolving and seeing how ppl make New ideas, techniques, and strategies… Aw shit art class bout to real different in 15 years😂😂😂
I really don't want that to happen
I started teaching myself to draw this year. It's hard. I'm not good at it. But I'm still trying. These "artists" have no drive to actually learn a practical skill and I have no respect for them
