Thank youuuuu, I so needed this video, gave me confidence to set my house rules and get back into soloing Everdell, because I love this game to bits (PRETTY!!!) but mostly got no one to play with (except, well, my toy raven and my toy unicorn and my toy dragon, who are my often playmates).

That intro sequence is great

This is a great series, sorry to see that you haven't done any new videos for it in a few months. I haven't had a chance to play Everdell yet, but I bought it in no small part because of it's looks so I'm totally with Nick on that one. My wife is going to go bonkers the first time she sees it on the table and I'm looking forward to it myself!

Have I said I love that intro? because I still do. A lot. Maybe too mutch, is this a thing? Also the video is amazing, getting funnier then ever. I'm not even interested in this game, but still watched it in it's entirety!

Maybe house rule it and only let him keep those cards IF he qualify for them in the first place.

That's a great idea.

Have played year 3 at least 10 times and always get crushed by those 18 to 24 extra points the Rat King gets at the end of the game. Still love the game no matter how bad I get trounced.

I saw a thread on BGG that suggested a house rule for the special event cards. The suggestion was at the end of the game you go through the discard pile and see if the cards that are required for the special events are there - which would mean they appeared in your hand or meadow at some point in the game and you had the chance to use them. The AI only gets rewarded for the special events which meet this criteria. This seemed like a fair house rule I’ll probably try next time I solo this game because I agree with you, I lost a lot of interest in the solo game when I saw in the rule book that the AI gets 6 points for each special event in the more challenging years/games.

I don't play it solo anymore simply because of the reason of what you said. It's further exacerbated by the fact that his workers can literally lock you out of every copy of a card. So you need a University for that one special event? Too bad, cause Rugwort has both of them. It also bothers me that the game punishes you for playing it, having Rugwort build every time you build. On the surface this seems fine, but I feel that the game in general tends to reward and push combo play, but the solo variant absolutely punishes it. Unless you're on point comboing out, chances are it's going to hurt you significantly at the end of the day. Problem is, I just don't know how else they could've made a solo variant.

Could you play that Rugwort only gets the Event Cards if he has the characters either in his tableau or in the meadow?

My copy will be arriving any day now. Interested to see if anyone has tried house ruling the issue you had while playing solo, as I'll be diving in as soon as it hits my door.

Maybe remove those event cards completely? Looking or a house rule myself that gives a solo person a fighting chance.

I agree that I don't like the special event cards. Even in the regular version. But other than that great game.

You can play cards from the meadow at any time.

Umm..no miss, page 10, top right corner, under the section "DRAWING CARDS" it says , "always draw cards from the deck, unless specifically told to draw them from the meadow cards" sorry.your everdell just got a little harder.but its still adorable af tho!

@@nicka.9057 so we've been playing a fair amount of everdell since this post, the first couple games we didnt get to interact with the meadow much, but now we always put the forest location that allows it, so we don't have to wait till end of season...and even in 2p we use like 4 spots, gives us plenty of choices.sometime She will even deckbuild the deck a little so the combos are closer together in one of two piles.lots of little house rules and tweaks.such a fun game!

@@ericdollarhyde3296 anyone can play any card from the meadow as if it's in their hand... not complicated. Drawing from the meadow takes the cards and adds to your hand giving you exclusive access.

I'm curious, based on your dislike of Rugwort getting so many points from those goal cards, how do you feel about the solo in Viticulture with Tuscany? I personally feel similar on Viticulture with the influence stars and how powerful the Automa is on the board. Even if you got all of your stars out, you can't even break even over there. I'd love to hear your opinion on that as well.

Next video be more quantitative. How long in minutes does it take? How long is setup/reset/teardown..

Uploaded a min ago.4am how dedicated am I? Great video as alway. I don't solo much. I found learning to play it solo was easy. But I found it to hard and I did not enjoy it.

I'll stick with v:ee, I don't need another game like it. For me, V:EE automa is enough challenge. Everdell ai is like TEE.
