There's also a slight parallel between John and Isaiah. Isaiah had it much worst and he is truely the one in the right, but they were both ultimately cast aside by the institution that put them in the fire front. Most veterans have nothing to come back to once the conflict is over. John was in the wrong, but not even listening to his side of the story is pure coldness. Both John and Isaiah feel their life of service was not rewarded.

When Sam first met Walker he didn't trust him because the government had lied to him about the shield. All the avengers had to gradually build trust in each other. We can't expect Bucky and Sam to trust Walker right away. Bucky's reasons for not liking Walker were more personal but in the end, Walker killing that man proved what he was saying was right. As sympathetic as I am to Walker's character, he absolutely wouldn't make a good captain america and he is a very flawed person who still continues to think of himself as right rather than working on his flaws.

I genuinely feel for Walker because he's a representation of a real superhero in a real world we're living in. They won't be able to keep their hands clean when on missions. They will have to do the government's dirty work, make compromises and worst of all, actually have a opinions with everything that's going on in the real world which will cause action taken by them and make enemies. Take the conversation he had with Lemar after the fight the Dora milage for example when they talked about their tours.

Lets take a war hero riddled with PTSD, sent over to Afganistan and has admitted to having to commit 'wrongs' in order to earn his medals of honor, wrongs he still feels guilt over. Lets take him, and tell him he's being 'offered' the greatest responsibility known to man: taking up the mantle of the literal face of his own nation, Captain America. A mantle upheld for literally over a hundred years by a man commonly regarded as one of, if not THE BEST of humanity. Lets ask him to do this in a time of total global chaos, where displaced factions are constantly warring over resources, most of our heroes have vanished and there's literally nobody to light the way. Lets do this in frank opposition to the wishes of the previous owner of the title, and lets lie to the man he entrusted that title to by claiming the shield would remain at the Smithsonian. Lets set this time bomb up to explode... and then use him as a scapegoat for any and all crimes being committed by our government during the time of his actions, whilst still deliberately marginalizing and withholding resources from literally BILLIONS of starving refugees and use his disgrace to draw attention away from it. And then, lastly... lets publicly denounce him as a villain, strip all his accomplishments and merits away from him and make sure he gains no benefits as a veteran for the rest of life. Classy move from the US government right there.

The fact is the reason why Steven was right about Civil War. He refused to sign the Accords because Superheroes aren’t servants of the government, they serve the people and cooperate With the government Tony may have known it too, but was so ashamed of the Avengers mistakes leading to Sokovia, that he felt the Avengers needed to be kept in check by being under the watch by the governments of the World to prevent another Sokvia from happening But the fact is. heroes aren’t chosen they’re forged Steve may have been picked as the first Super Solder, but he was picked because he was already forged by incorruptible qualities that would make him the best hero he can be. To be the best symbol of hope for America and the World John Walker was chosen and its why it didn’t work out He tried too hard to be the symbol his country defined him to be, rather then be the best himself he can be, as Steve did He did kill the wrong man, and horrified the world in the manner he did it, still the reason why he’s on trial is bad PR. If it wasn’t for that, as far as his governments Was concerned, he killed a terrorist. But because he killed while he was like a madman with the whole world watching, Walker was a scapegoat to save face Walker wasnt a bad person, he’s not unlike Tai Long in Kung Fu Panda. He tried so hard to be what he was told to be. What he did wrong was how he tried to achieve it, disregarding everything else around him, including the people Steve would have protected if he was there His choices was his own, although he’s not entirely at fault at that, which makes him a tragic character

As far as he's concerned, that makes him the king shit and they should all just follow and work with him. He would not have listened to them. The reality is he never really earned that position. It was just handed to him to because they wanted a new Cap. And, like a good soldier, he obeyed and tried to give them a new cap because they made him believe he was the one who could.......but he didn't really understand anything about what that meant or what kind of man he needed to be. Also, that serum (which he should not have taken) had him even more unhinged and mentally juiced up on his own arrogance.

The difference between Steve and John is that John was a soldier long before he was a hero, fighting in actual wars and engaging/killing dozens upon dozens of enemies in live combat, witnessing bone-chilling death, terror, and suffering under US command. It is likely that he has become seasoned and disillusioned by warfare and killing has become something natural to him. Rogers, however, has been empowered by the serum while still in the training - so it enhanced his idealistic and moralistic outlook long before he's been in combat.

I really hope that in the finally, Sam's gonna have a scene with these politicians, and basically call them out for their bullshit and how they treated the shield/title of Captain America for their own needs. And bring up Issaish and even John as victims of their exploits. Cause even though we can all agree John shouldn't have been Cap, it wasn't really his fault that he was chosen. He's a good person that was forced into a role way out of his depth, and he cracked cause he was, well, like he said, what they made him to be.

Now, that I've seen the latest episode, I feel bad for him, cause the government put all this weight and an iconic figure onto John, and John tried to do his best. He got PTSD,(from what he's witnessed in the Wars he's been on), also has rage issues, but Lemar was the guy who can calm him down. After seeing Lemar die, John got enraged, and killed Nico, even though it was Karli who killed Lemar. After killing Nico, John is now being disqualified from the title of Captain America. Everything comes full circle. John didn't ask for this. The government dubbed him, " The New Captain America". He did everything they wanted him to do.

What he did was wrong and yes stripping him of the Captain America title was I think the best thing for all parties involved Walker included but stripping him of his rank and even his ability to get benefits for his family was wrong. The government chose him knowing full well the pressure that would be put on him and when he understandably can’t live up too al that they cast him aside in the most humiliating and disrespectful way. I hope the one speaking to Walker in particular gets what’s coming too him.

I feel for Walker, truly feel for him. He's probably my favorite character from the show, but his character is too complex to be solely defied as a victim. And I believe Sam and Bucky ain't no villains here. Sam understands the weight of being Captain America and knows that no one should try to be another, not because he respects Steve and wants to preserve his legacy, but because he knows that the shield is too heavy to be lifted, and anyone who tries will suffer when they realize reality. The only reason he picked the shield up again was not because he wants to be Cap, but because he wants to do what is right. More importantly, he never tries to fill Steve's shoes, but his very own. Bucky is clearly being subjective here, but we couldn't deny that he read John right since the very first moment, that John will never truly success this job. We witnessed how terrible he copes against the lost of his best friend and all doubt and disappointment. At that point, even Sam and Bucky were on his side, he still wouldn't change, his believe in his own self and in his best friend's faith were no use. Yet, we can't blame John for being emotional and sensitive, he tried his best to be the Cap, but constantly feeling he's not good enough for it by the others, and by the worst of them all, himself. These alone are enough to break a man, driving them to the wrong path, any man, but not Steve, and probably not Sam, that's why Sam suits to be the next Cap.

John Walker was a more than welcome addition to the MCU; you can just feel his frustration and disbelief in the fact that he bent over backwards for the government and yet they still rejected him, furthering his insecurities over not being the "real" Captain America.
