    Chad, in the Philippines, off-roading is popular here because we have an abundance of remote off-roading locations throughout the country. Overlanding has also been making a scene here because we also have a lot of overlanding trails that lead to perfect campsites. But before reaching there, you will go through muddy terrain, cross rivers, etc. We Filipinos love the thrill and fun of going on adventures and going to places we haven't been to. That is why overlanding is popular here, not because we don't have decent hotels in the provinces. We usually go in with big groups so that if someone gets stuck, the other one can easily pull him out.

    When did "Overlanding" get traction over there? back in 2010's the "offroad look" was pretty popular, jacking up the trucks and putting huge rims.. 5yrs later.. you can see more real offroad worthy vehicles, by that I meant, people can actually offroad in them, not curb appeal.. last time I was there in 2018. . "Overlanding" wasnt even a thing... hell that term was just gaining traction in the US.. it was just called Offroading/wheeling and camping, nothing more. Also alot of the "overlanding" trails in Philippines are just very primitive unpaved roads that leads to the remote barrios or sitios where only karitons and motorcycles can pass through. Now the Overlanders go thru there and start tearing up the path and adding deeper ruts along the way. I'd hate to live on those areas.

    Hi Chad! Off-road vehicles are popular here because there are plenty of popular places in the Philippines that can only be reached by these vehicles. It's either you go through a poorly maintained road or a literal dirt road (sometimes mud, too!) I live further up north in Zambales and there are a lot of off-road trails and mountain paths here. There's even lahar here that's been left by the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in the 90's which is now a popular destination to test out your off-roading skills. Another reason why people love these vehicles is that generally, roads in the Philippines are shitty. Imagine driving your sedan at speed in the middle of the night then a pothole comes out of nowhere. Now, imagine that 100x over. Those kinds of problems are virtually non-existent with these vehicles. Also, it rains a lot in the Philippines and there are a lot of places here that have very poor water/flood management so we experience flooded streets and highways every year. These vehicles don't have much problem handling floods unlike a sedan or an MPV.

    About the accomodations yes but if you're not picky in rooms many offers good enough, but in overlanding they literally used that cars in mountains for camping etc. peace

    With motorcycles, adv bikes are also very popular here, and just like with ranger raptors, and other 4x4s. These offroad machines are mainly used to go to starbucks or malls. I guess roads here are so UTTERLY SHIT that long travel, comfy trucks and bikes are preferred over sedans.

    Vehicle modification in Singapore is illegal. So you’ll see a lot more super cars than JDMs; despite them being very expensive. Probably as expensive as Thailand, if not more. You’ll need to obtain. Certificate of Entitlement (COE) before you can purchase a car. The CEO alone costs an average SGD100k.

  • @Alsinsin

    @Alsinsin

    Many modifications are illegal if they have not gotten through approval by the Land Transport Authority. However many cars in Singapore have illegal modifications, especially loud exhaust. The presence of expensive cars in not due to modification ban but because there is a lot of super rich people. The COE reached SGD150,000 last month. Crazy😢
