    I think you should have left one $5 rack. There is a psychological incentive that you are getting a good deal that encourages folks to buy stuff.

    OR split (upper/lower) a 20 buck slot in half - and sell for 10 bucks. More wood than a bundle but half as much as a 20 stack. Perfect one night 4-6 hour fire.

    With more potential customers driving by $5 bundles might sell along the nieghbor's road with more traffic. I also like the $10 idea. Good for a nice cookout in the backyard over an open fire while socializing with a few friends.

    If the $5 bundle is present, it will help make the $20 stack be perceived as a better value which will drive sales of the $20 stacks. One of the 10 slots should be dedicated to this, even if you never sell any of the bundles. Marketing is tricky! :)

    I agree - anything seen as marketing here would be counter-productive, but giving an option with perceived better value definitely "helps" an unsure buyer make their mind up. Also, just visually helps a buyer quantify what's on offer in the bigger racks.

    Yes, but I wonder how much that works for firewood, which value depends on how much you value the experience you'll get out of it more than on the intrinsic value as a fuel. A big pile of wood equals a campfire that lasts for longer. And anyone with a slightest bit of imagination knows $20 for all that wood that came from a tree that was planted, tended for decades, cut down, and processed is a steal. I'd rather use the $5 bundle space to sell marshmallows and other campfire accessories.

    criminals may be everywhere, but it is these parts of America where good honest people live, to me this isn't much of a social experiment as much as just proving my point, the experiment comes when you put one of these near a city of 25,000 or more. 90% of the time, I will bet you those foreigners are from those cities and that's why they think that way.

  • @jakinchan3432

    @jakinchan3432

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@shawnbybee85 not necessarily because city people on average are less honest. I don’t think there is enough information to tell yet. Could be a variety of factors. For example, the more people there are, the easier to get away with something because you don’t stand out. Also, people in general are more likely to steal from large corporations than family farms/garage sales, and theft of fruits and vegetables in general is less common. On the other hand, cities are usually where the poorest people live, who have the most to gain from stealing. However, this is somewhat a blanket statement, and poor doesn’t mean necessarily mean thief. Also, traffic is also important. The person in this video noted that around 8 cars passes his stand per minute in the new location. If we were to place the stand in a decently large city, depending on the location, a couple dozen cars may pass by per minute. So if someone steals from the stand, is it because people in cities are more likely to be bad, or is it because there’s a higher chance a criminal will pass by since more cars pass by per minute?

    The news is 99% bad stories because if they can make you angry you will keep watching and the longer you watch, the more ad revenues they get. Makes me glad I get no tv out here and the mountain blocks the radio. I went into town wednesday to see some friends and they were all talking about how they're struggling to stay off their phones because the news depresses them. Phone service is intermittent here and completely ends in another mile. Naturally, I don't have a cell phone addiction. I'm not cut off, I talk to people and find out stuff that's going on, and clearly I have internet. But the bad news trifecta of radio, tv, and cell phones is not part of my life, and I'm better off for it. I'd say 90% of what goes on is good or neutral. We’ve been selling wood for a while now during the camping season and we never had trouble with theft. Most people who camp are pretty honest people🙂. Personally I don’t understand how it could cross someone’s mind to steal wood. Most people are just like, “I need wood so here’s the cost.” Not “ooo wood, I’ll just take it”.

    The traffic on the new road is also much faster, looks like. If you can get the up- and down-stream neighbors to agree, you could put up advertising signs to let people know your stand is coming up so they know to start slowing down.

    Good info Adam glad to see that the roadside stand is working out. I may need to upgrade my stand where I can sell the racks since I just sell bundles. Take care brother.

    This is how McDonald’s started. I honestly would pay you to build one more and I’ll come get it. Any interest??

    You don't have people from Houston TX anywhere around you! The wood, the cash box, and the stand itself would be gone!

    I was fascinated by seeing stands like that but with press / tissues etc. in Finland. Some even had card terminals.
