    Hey Gacha Smack, love the content and the work you put into your craft. I greatly respect the fact that you did not try to downplay the seriousness of someone accusing another person of plagiarism (32:02) because yeah, it's not an overreaction when your career is on the line. And apologies about the image, I swear it was the first frame it landed on 😅

    Hey brother, first and foremost - Awesome content you presented! Truly easy to follow, nice trail of breadcrumbs, & a genuine vibe. The reason I weighed in on it, is because i saw that other people were not taking it as serious as it should be taken. I also understand how frustrating it can be to feel like you got done dirty and no justice is ever going to be given. It is important for other creators to share their nuanced and experienced perspective on these kind of situations to ensure the people involved are getting a fair shake. Happy you got a W out of this. God Speed brother.

    completely agree, he tried to be pacifist but the internet didn't like that option so the only one left is going postal. Why I'm willing to let a lot of the more outlandish reaches slide, he has a right to go there since they had less evidence and went after him. At worst it's fair game and at best it's karma. zmm is completely in the right here even if some of the "conspiracy theories" don't actually hold water, Guoba quite literally asked for it. And this is coming from someone who sided with Guoba when he and Gacha Smack got into it last time, a stance I still don't regret considering I've seen several noobs get baited by his hype in particular and pull Ruan Mei thinking she's so much stronger than Bronya and Tingyun for hypercarry comps. Gacha Smack has done serious account damage to a lot of people who went all in on supports and don't really need more, and as a theorycrafter, it's been my job to help these people cook up something to get the job done and hopefully win some 50-50s to get the units they actually wanted. I've been working overtime fixing his fuckups on Reddit this past month, so I don't really blame Guoba for his comments back then because I'm basically in the same boat. If a no-life theorycrafter like me can see that Guoba is in the wrong this time around, I think it's gonna be hard for most to turn a blind eye here.

    Pokke thinks that way because he yoinks from CN all the time to build his brand/reputation/clout. As Smack describes it, 80% of content creators will post similar things, but it's the 20% that differentiates you from other content creators. He takes that 20% from CN to differentiate himself in the western space. He does credit them, but did he get permission to? Thing is, those bilibili creators probably don't know he even exists because they're on a different platform. He just leaves their links in the description and keeps farming their content on youtube. For those who say "Smack why are you watching and reacting to this drama?", I'd like to say that I for one appreciate that you are watching and reacting. Why? Because it's important for content creators in the community to weigh in on this topic of plagiarism (or in this case, content theft). As you said plainly in your reaction - this is a person's livelihood at stake. It is not acceptable for content creators to be slandered for content theft. And it's absolutely NOT acceptable to steal content. Thanks again for viewing this and reacting to it. I agree with everything you've said, except maybe being a little too harsh on Guoba but I know why you would be wary of him. He dialed into Pokke's reaction and seemed to be actually sorry, but the cynical would say he's just doing damage control. I'm on the fence - he's young and apparently not entirely in control of himself imo. Anyways, you always keep it real and I appreciate that from you.

    Having your content stolen while also being accused of stealing content is quite the double whammy. If I were a creator, I would imagine that it would put me in a confused headspace and make me feel helpless; like reality has been turned upside down. I dont blame Zmm for it impacting him for a while, especially smaller creators like him who are experiencing the vitriol that online spaces can deliver. Everyone processes problems in their own way and at their own pace. I dont think it has anything to do with him needing to be more of a man. The idea that men should shun emotion and just "get over it" (meaning: dont actually address the root cause) is deeply rooted in humanity and especially American culture with detrimental outcomes to men. He did exactly that in the beginning, and it resulted in a months-long negative headspace. It took Zmm as long as it took him to process it, which is ok, and at the end of that road he produced a video standing up for himself. He did exactly what he needed to do and having community backing will go a long way in developing a thicker skin and the confidence to take action against BS in the future. Great points and good commentary all around.

The context to me made it seem like he was fishing for something to have on someone or drama rather than outright an accusation. He didnt view his comment as an accusation, after zmm responded he 100% SHOULD HAVE and said sorry immediately. He instead makes a condescending joke(british humor) and alright which is crazy.

No shot you think it's cool in any circumstance to make a claim that serious in a public server, and then your only response is a "joke" about how he had to backread to find that post instead of just apologizing or atleast give some sort of proper reply (unless you think saying "Alright" suffices).

    As usual, you got some really good takes on a situation. The problem with plagiarism is something that really needs to be talked about publicly more (with proofs ofc). It's just that small creators probably often doubt that they can successfully defend themselves against bigger ones. But it's still the only right way to deal with it IMO - by calling this out, if it is carefully proven.

    Thank you for reacting to this Smack. People seriously need education on internet etiquette in the content creation space. It's so easy to not see as a viewer how much blood sweat tears and TIME goes into making content ESPECIALLY when you discuss topics that require RESEARCH. So many of us smaller content creators are shot out the sky with things like Zmm's situation going on every day. The public eye is a dangerous place and it's terrifying to see people's livelihoods' weaponized like this willy nilly, ignorantly, and without fear. We all deserve to eat and thrive from making content.

I only watched Artumbo's vid once, which was the QQ's guide, and that was such a great vid that made I play QQ better and she dealt fk tons of Dmg since then. It was disappointing to see not only him plagiarise but also DramaCertified falsely accusing Zmm without evidence. P.s: I am a Genshin veteran and I understand the general frame of building char in two games due to their similarity. When it comes to HSR's content, I 99% only watch your content, Smack because your 20% distinction that separates your guide/take and others, is the most valuable and unique knowledge to me.

  • @ASalad
    @ASalad6 ай бұрын

    Getting caught and facing consequences for one’s own actions can lead to genuine remorse for what they did as well. Many times people aren’t sorry until they get caught because they genuinely don’t understand the effect it had on others until that point. I know I’ve had times I did something that hurt someone, thought “yeah, I mean it was maybe a little wrong but nbd” and after being confronted realized “okay, this wasn’t a nbd thing, this was a big deal thing.” Even when there weren’t a lot of other consequences, I felt (and still feel) pretty bad about how I treated them, and I do try to be better about it. I mean if people couldn’t be genuinely sorry and learn and grow after getting caught, then how would it even be possible to raise and teach children? Of course there are some people that really don’t gaf about other people and only care about the consequences to them, but I think that’s far fewer people that are like that than most realize.

One thing I want to add, he replies on his channel a lot on questions asked for advise. He is relatively big and I've seen smaller channels react less to requests for advise. Dude gave genuine advice on 4 different occasions to me in comments. I'm not defending him, I'm just saying for better or worse he reads a lot about this from people everywhere seemingly. Not just his channel but discord as well. I personally can't say anything bad about him. But we all gotta see if he learns from it and if his apology is worth a damn.

    Accusing a content creator of plagiarism definitely has negative effects, as you said. Artumbo has gone from 37.5k subscribers (as of when zmm recorded his video calling Artumbo out) down to 35.1k subscribers (as of me checking just now). So guoba accusing zmm of plagiarism definitely could've negatively affected him. Edit: To the people in the replies; True comparing one comment to a video with a bunch of evidence isn't all that fair, but as gachasmack said, there are a bunch of people who would just take that info at face value and spread it since putsothersjobsatjeopardycertified is such a high-caliber and trusted member in the starrail community. So the comparison doesn't really matter, as the comment could still have negatively impacted zmm and made him lose a lot of subscribers. Luckily, that isn't what happened.

    Artumbo and Guoba wont suffer for it tbh, because like you said, they make guides. As long as their guides on characters are factual content that don't steer you wrong and they remain high up in the algorithm when some random comes on yt and types in "Best Build X character HSR" and their guide comes up that's their livelihood secured right there. What's sad is people like Artumbo's guides force these smaller guys down the page on yt and I mean realistically how many guides does one person need to watch on a single character, 1 mainly, maybe 2 to see if there's any major contrast in opinions? So unless these smaller creators start going for guides for off-meta builds with titles like "Crit Kafka? Does it smash or pass?!" or " I built my Tank as a DMG dealer! 10,000,000 DMG later!" or something like that to carve niches, then without being credited by the bigger creator they don't get a chance to grow. Because the other thing in that space, is once you find a creator you like. You tend to go back. After you've looked up a few guides for different characters you tend to notice, this persons guide's are always good. I follow them, my character turns out great and that persons presentation/format is laid out in a way I understand and you get familiar with their style and personality so its just easier to watch their guides each time a new character comes out. So the chance that the people who've been watching these "pirate guides" so to speak, switch and watch someone else at this stage, slim.
